Mount Whittier Motel — Hotel in Ossipee

This place is junk. I’ve stayed in very sketchy places and this place is one of them. It is NOT 3.9 stars. It’s tired, rundown, old, broken, and just a place you don’t want to stay at. It seems sort of clean but it’s lipstick on a pig. Think about buying a run down motel and just trying to clean. It. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was partially a homeless shelter. If you are very desperate and need a place to stay, sleep in your car before this place. Otherwise, drink until you pass out and maybe this place will work. The bedding is certainly 50 yrs old. I’m not even sure how this place gets a license to operate. The owners seemed nice enough and listened to my blistering critique but they clearly have put zero investment into making this place updated. Maybe renovate one room at a time? The review must be totally fake or the people leaving them have never stayed in a motel before. Blinds were broken. Faucet handle came off. Bedding seemed from a different century. I hope I don’t get bed bugs. I likely should have slept in my car. The location to the lake is great but I should have saved the $180 and slept in my car. Great little motel. I stay at hundreds of hotels and motels and I have never had a good experience with motels, so I tend to avoid them. This motel is the exception. The rooms are clean and the grounds are well cared for. The woman at the front desk was friendly and helpful to find food in the area. The bed in my room (10) was the most comfortable bed I have ever had in a hotel! So soft! If you don't like a nice comfy soft bed, dont get room 10...lol things I like: comfy bed, clean room ample parking. Things not to like: room was dark and needs more lighting, no breakfast option, pool closed indefinitely (not a deal breaker) A/C unit is right above the bed and can be loud and vibrates the whole room, the cleaning staff needs to change the mop water more frequently as the bathroom smelled fine until they cleaned it and it had a severe musty smell afterwards which may be due to a dirty mop. I needed to stay in a motel. When I pulled back the covers, I found the unpleasant surprise. There were a couple of dead bugs and debris on the sheet. I called the office and told them I found dead bugs in the bed. The managers/owners looked like they were from the Middle East and it was hard to understand their accent. They were rather dismissive of the whole thing. In trying to interpret what they were saying, I think they thought I said "bedbugs" instead of "dead bugs," They kept talking about ticks and trees and whatever. It seemed like they thought the bugs were on me and fell off me onto the bed. They did come to my room and continued to talk about ticks and trees--well, as much as I could try to figure out what they were saying. They brushed the debris on the floor, said "I'm sorry" and left the room. I paid $125.00 a night for the room. There were no comfortable chairs in the room and only a tiny shelf in the bathroom to put...
