Convenience does not out way the disappointment! The rooms were clean and comfortable but that is it. You would think that a hotel at a university as nice as Miami University would be alittle more honest. We stayed here while our son was at Buckeye Boys State. Don't believe their "continental breakfast". It is bagels, cereal, yogurt and bananas. Coffee only available during breakfast hours and trash cans were overflowing. Okay so we looked past that and enjoyed the University very much. Then we got home and two days later saw that they withdrew an additional $160 from our account for "incidentals". We called them and were told that that is common practice and we would be refunded the amount in 70 to 120 DAYS!!!! How long does it take to check and see if we broke anything? The person we spoke to on the phone was very rude and basically told us too bad there is nothing they can do about it. I would have been fine if they would have said 7 to 10 days but 2 to 4 MONTHS!!!!! I guess they can do what they want due to having a captive audience, but you can guarantee that if my youngest son attends Buckeye Boys State WE WILL NOT BE STAYING AT THE MARCUM HOTEL! Marcum you should take more pride in your hotel and guest and provide the type of experience that we had with the rest of the Miami...
Read moreI chose this hotel because I was visiting my son at Miami U. I read many positive reviews and I agree with them. This is a beautiful hotel on the edge of the Miami campus in a very scenic wooded area. There is no bar or restaurant but like many hotels it has a small store near the desk that sells snacks and drinks. The room was great, immaculately clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows. The room also had a large flat screen and coffee maker. This particular room also had a large tub sized shower instead of a bathtub. It was a warm evening and the AC was quiet and worked very well. Breakfast is pretty basic, bagels, muffins, donuts and cereal. As others have mentioned, the signage outside could be better, the parking lot and entrance are around the back of the building. This was my first time at this hotel and it will be my first choice for return...
Read moreDefinitely the nicest, cleanest, most “comfortable” modern hotel I have stayed at while visiting my Redhawk in Oxford over the past four years. No contest. Comfy beds and pillows. Scenic views of the leafy campus. Stayed with family over grad weekend. A very fair room rate vs what the in-town hotels charge even for non grad weekends and “frightening” rooms. Fresh blueberries and raspberries with the continental breakfast. Snacks in the afternoon. Only issue was the computer (desk top) and printer for guests needs replacement. The printer was not working. IT needs to upgrade (this is a conf ctr hotel). The Rec center is far so while nice to offer a free pass, it’s the student rec ctr and will be crowded during peak times and when classes are in progress. Better to stroll the...
