Don't eat at their restaurant. They scored a 93 on their last inspection when I was there. The food was bland and mostly made up of prefabricated foods. No chief style meals, just a combination of most likely microwaved frozen ontray's. The room was huge (433). The view was great until you look down at the really bad landscaping dead spotted grass and no management of the grounds that touch the lake itself. It really looks bad in fact. The bed in my room was harder than a piece of plyboard. The bedding consisted of a mattress pad, two top sheets all tucked tightly under the bed and a flemsey blanket. When you pull the covers back you most likely will see the mattress padding because you thought there was a bottom fitted sheet but there wasn't so you ended up pulling everything up. Way way way too many pillows and they didn't even match each other. Then each pillow had a protective casing that had some kind of hard as hell piece of plastic supposedly protecting you from the zipper (doesn't work, all you feel is that hard ass plastic and you wake up with an indentation in your face). The bathroom consisted of a shower with toilet, blow dryer, steamer iron. When you flip all the wall switches you'll notice there's no vent fan (is that code???). Needless to say everything steams up and you have to wipe down the mirror to use it not to mention be careful walking on the tile (don't slip and fall). The continental breakfast was cheep. No meat at all. When I asked if there would be meat coming out soon I was told by a hispanic worker that "Its a continental breakfast" as if what should I have expected for a $146 dollar a night hotel. I'll be honest, I've stayed at many hotels where they served sausage links or bacon and they were around $75 dollar a night hotels. I expected more for the higher price. They offered a senior discount but it was the same as a Tennessee resident discount so don't be old living in Tennessee expecting anything special from them. I know I have a lot of complaints about this hotel but I want everyone to know what to expect. I will, however, leave you with this: The check in desk clerks were excellent. They were very gracious, kind, and informative. I give them 5 stars and everything else less than one...
Read moreWas so excited to stay in this newly renovated facility that I grew up loving and all I can say is - Yowza, was this a big waste of almost $200. ||The biggest disappointment overall was the front desk staff/management. No one seemed to really know or have confidence in what they were doing and they all badly need some sort of training on how the hospitality industry is supposed to work. | The exterior of the lodge looks so modern and polished - the front desk staff at the very least should reflect that as well. Any questions seemed to really throw them. When someone else had to be called from the back for help (I assume management), there were no welcoming smiles or "how can we help you" - it was just clear they did not want to be bothered. | The electronic lock on our door to our room was not functioning properly, was almost impossible to unlock and then when it finally did let us in, the door would not lock back. ( front desk is annoyed, will send mtce up while we are at dinner, not apologetic). Bright Spot: We had dinner there - dinner was good and our server was excellent.|The beds in our room did not have duvets or comforters and there were no extra blankets to be found in the room. We were told that's just how they make the beds there. Maybe this is a thing I've never seen before but I prefer a big fluffy comforter to feeling like I am sleeping in a queen sized hospital bed.||Check out time was interesting. I expected to be paying around $142 because that was the rate listed on their website when I booked the room. However, at check out time, I asked for a receipt since they didn't slide one under the door. |I either paid $185 or $177 and I'm not sure which, and I'm not sure why. Taxes, fees and, according to front desk, it was probably because rates can fluctuate by the minute depending on occupancy, and the rate must have changed between the time I saw the rate on their website and clicked the button to make the reservation.||Basically I am giving one star because I expected at least maybe a Trader Joe's experience but got Dollar General...
Read moreWe just spent a few days at the Lodge and can’t wait to return. The lodge itself is beautifully designed. The standard king room was bright, modern and well-appointed with a mini fridge (note that it is very small but enough to hold a few cold drinks), small table and two chairs to eat in the room if desired, sofa and plenty of storage space. I was not optimistic about the bed because of a few reviews that said it was hard and uncomfortable. While it was firm to sit on, it was quite comfortable to sleep on. Housekeeping was impeccable. Plenty of towels and an outstanding shower.
We had several meals, including their Thanksgiving meal. Everything was delicious, hot and plentiful. Beer was ice cold. The complementary breakfast offered omelets, waffles, pastries, hot and cold cereals, as well as fruit, yogurt, etc. The ladies in charge of that made sure it was replenished as necessary and the area was clean and inviting.
The common areas can be a bit loud if crowded because of how large and open they are. But the beauty and views make it worth it. And the room itself was surprisingly quiet. No slamming doors or noise from other rooms could be heard.
What really draws us back, though, is the staff. Every single employee we encountered was friendly and made you think they were genuinely happy to have you stay there. That’s not always the case these days. I must give a special shout out to the following - Dakota, Sara and Amara at the front desk, Katie at the bar, and the housekeeper working Thanksgiving (I didn’t get her name but saw her working so hard and she was so pleasant). But, really, everyone was wonderful and I failed to get each name.
Whoever is in charge of each department in the Lodge is doing...
