Everything You Need, Great Location, Allows Dogs! I've stayed at this La Quinta at least 5 times now, either in a standard room with King bed, and a suite. You can't go wrong with either choice. As a couple, we don't use the suite as much just because we only stay a couple of nights. But it does feel like a second home with a full kitchen, living room space, and separate bedroom. The hotel is in a great location close to the freeway, and several wineries are within a few miles. One winery is right across the street. If you're in the area for wine tasting, the hotel even has a winery guide in your room for your reference. Another reason we keep coming back is because the hotel allows dogs, and our pooch really appreciates being able to be with us on our trips. You can check the La Quinta website to see which locations allow dogs, indicated by a paw print symbol. Despite the allowance of dogs, this hotel is immaculate and well-attended inside and out, and doesn't smell any different than other hotels that don't allow dogs. The "elimination areas" are stocked with receptacles for dog waste and again, are well-attended to so you don't feel like you're walking through land mines. It seems like the pet owners are responsible about the messes, too. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, which has plenty of seating and towels stocked outside to use. There is also a small gym to use indoors if you need. Each morning, breakfast is offered to guests, and it is plentiful. No chintzy continental breakfast. You get eggs, sausage, homestyle potatoes, biscuits & gravy, waffles, cereal, muffins, bread and fruit, plus a variety of juice and coffee. It really is a nice way to start off your morning. The breakfast area is cute and small, but the hotel plans for more dining in their meeting room during breakfast time to accommodate the breakfast crowd. In addition to the typical vending machines, the hotel also has a store at the front with wine, beverages and snacks. The staff has always been friendly, professional, and efficient.
Update 11/2021 I have to assume there have been some changes due to COVID-19 protocol, but there were a couple of minor issues when we stayed this year that I don't think are related to COVID protocols. ROOM: We usually stay in a suite with the fireplace, but this time the only room available to suite our 4-person family was a King bed suite that had a sofa bed and enough room for another rollaway bed. The sofa bed was extremely thin (which I guess is normal since they have to fold into a sofa) but you could feel every spring/coil in the mattress. The rollaway bed was a step up from the sofa bed, but not by much. This room had a "Jack & Jill" style bathroom where you could access it from the bedroom and the entry hallway. Pros - you can access it easily from wherever you were in the room; Cons - you have to lock/unlock 2 doors each time. For these larger rooms I wish the design included a separate water closet (toilet) area from the sink and tub/shower, just because if you have a family staying like we did, it's a one-person-at-a-time use, no matter what you need to use the bathroom for. Since we had 2 teenagers with us, we called the front desk to ask for extra pillows, to which they replied they were stored in the furniture drawers. They were clean and that was convenient; I just would never have thought to look there. The room had a small counter with a sink, a coffee pot, microwave above that, and a mini fridge. The coffee supplies were all there, but the ice bucket and water cups were stored in the bathroom vanity area. It would have made more sense to me to have them both stored in the "kitchenette" area. Also despite the very spacious suite, there was ONE tiny waste can in the bathroom and nowhere else, not even by the desk/table, which I thought was an industry standard. All-in-all these are relatively minor issues... it won't stop us from coming back, but worth noting. HOTEL IN GENERAL: The hotel updated its lobby and breakfast area and...
Read moreMy two night stay at this hotel in Paso Robles, California was more than expected. First, since my last stay two years prior, this hotel has been refreshed and modernized. One of the cleanest hotels I've booked in awhile. Usually, I can find an issue with cleanliness, but not here, not one dust bunny in sight. Kudos to the housekeeping staff. The courteous and friendly staff made me feel welcomed. Check in was quick and easy. The daily breakfast included with room was satisfying. Although the breakfast sausages were quite salty, the remainder of the American food selections were very good, with a large variety of hot and cold options. My room was large. The king sized bed was firm, cozy, and comfortable. The pillows were better than some five star hotels. I could prop up three and be comfortable sitting up in the bed to read or watch TV. The white bedding was so clean. The room smelled fresh and all surfaces were exceptionally clean. The clean bathroom had a long counter with two sinks, a tub shower combination, strong water pressure, and a separate toilet area. Instead of carpet, the wooden floors made the room feel more sanitized. I didn't have to wonder about the stains normally found on hotel room carpets. So smart. The lighting system was easy to use. There were enough switches, outlets and USB ports very conveniently placed throughout the room. WIFI was pretty good, at first a little slow, but I was able to access emails and the internet easily. Plus, there were no complicated codes to enter this public WIFI network. If you have VPN on your mobile devices then privacy will not be an issue. There is enough parking to accommodate guests at full capacity. I choice this hotel due to its central location to downtown Paso and the surrounding wineries. Close to highways for quick drives into town and nearby cities and attractions. San Antonio Winery is across the street. They have a wine shop and restaurant but their business hours vary, so you would have to check their website. Check out was as quick as turning in my keycard and getting my folio printout. One last thing, this is a dog friendly hotel with areas for dog walking. You'll have to sign the hotel dog policy form. My small service dog enjoyed his stay like me. We saw big dogs too. SLO is a dog friendly county, so Colonel was welcomed in every establishment we visited. Note, he's usually in his soft sided carrier when not walking. I would highly recommend this affordable, clean, and modern hotel and suites. A...
Read moreUpon arrival on a Friday afternoon (03/14/2025), there was plenty of parking available. The lobby is spacious and clean. There was no wait to speak to the desk clerk. He was very polite and friendly. He selected a newly renovated room for us in the main building, #220. The room was large and immaculate and clearly newly renovated. We liked the wall decor, and the general layout. The only two things missing from the room was a toilet paper roll hanger (but it was on a convenient shelf, so no problem) and a safe (not sure if other rooms provide them). It was very quiet upon check-in. After a big night out, we returned to the room about midnight, with the plan to sleep in the next morning. NOPE! Room #220 is at the end of the hallway, next to a supply room. The employees starting going in and out of that room VERY early and they were VERY loud each time. Loud talking, and sometimes yelling. Additionally, the continued renovation construction of rooms sharing a common wall/ceiling started very early in the morning. That involved the use of tools. The last part that was irritating is no fault of the hotel, but the room is close to the elevator, and this was also very loud. For some reason, every group waiting for the elevator at 7:30am felt the need to yell at the rest of their group who was apparently down the hall. Oh, also, why does breakfast end at 9:00am? Seems like 10:00am makes more sense. Honestly, I’m torn about my experience. It is a fairly expensive hotel, but the experience was a bit frustrating and I got very...
