This Westley Holiday Inn is one of the older ones, or at least it's showing it's age. The rooms are a bit smaller than some of the other Holiday Inn Expresses I've stayed in. Being a Platinum Elite Member, I've seen a lot of Holiday Inn Expresses for my business travels. I arrived mid week just after official check in time of 4pm. Not too many people around, but the dust from the road construction just out side the hotel was. There is a big truck stop just up the road, so you have a lot of truck traffic around here.
But once inside my room, I didn't hear any noise. Like I said, the rooms are a bit smaller with the bathroom sink vanity out in the same room as the bedroom. The desk was a bit smaller than what I am used to. The air conditioning worked well, although a bit noisy as with most wall mounted units so common at these Holiday Inn Expresses. The price was sure right. The TV worked well and I was able to hook the TV to my laptop and play Netflix on the TV! The wireless internet works pretty well, until later in the evening when everybody else gets on the internet and the speed slows way down. I forgot my wired connection, which may have sped things up. So, tip: bring an ethernet cable for your computer and you might see full speed better.
The staff here was quite helpful in keeping up with my requests of having a room on the ground floor and near the front. If you get a room like this, there is sure a lot less walking to do when you come and go from your room and to get to the free breakfast buffet in the morning, especially if you want to serve breakfast in bed! The general manager was so helpful in granting my request for an early buffet start time! Now that's service! The buffet was pretty standard for all the Holiday Inns, it's feeds you but don't expect anything to write home about. Although, the food at this location seemed a bit better than most other Holiday Inn Expresses. Gotta love those Cinnamon rolls! The pancake machine is quite amusing to watch as the pancake emerges out from the rollers and plops onto your plate. Every room has a fridge and microwave, so that help with food storage if you have any. There are not too many dining opportunities surrounding this hotel, but there is a great Mexican restaurant just up the street, otherwise it's Denny's or fast food. Good place to spend a night if you are on your way along I-5, but probably not really a reason to spend more nights here. I'll still use the place again, if I'm...

Read moreI insisted to a coworker, whom also joined the Rewards at my behest, we stay with a holiday inn property on our way through California.
Our check-in was unremarkable except the front desk person was very quiet, and if she greeted us, it was barely audible. My room was ok, excluding stained comforter, chair ,and carpet, and the automatic window shades were broken and unable to roll up. The "fitness center" is a large closet with a treadmill and elliptical,, but it was better than none. However, the hall to the fitness center entrance was DARK, barely illuminated by flood/emergency lights on the walls. It was uncomfortable and disconcerting. The next morning going to breakfast was a poor experience. The normal area was blocked and serviced by one lone woman who seemed to have no sense of urgency. It was a full half hour before the end of breakfast, but she was nearly out of eggs and sausage patties. The eggs were sufficient for my serving, but when i asked her for 2 more than the two tepid ones she served me, she stopped and simply stared at me. She told me she'd have to make more, but made no move to do so. I asked her when they would be ready, and she ruffled, said something under her breath, then walked into the kitchen area. She then muttered "ten minnies..." I came back and got them and she never spoke a word. Checkout was similar. When I checked out, I was neither thanked, acknowledged, or wished goodbye/go-to-hxll/fair well... I said i was checking out, deposited my card in the card receptacle, and asked for a receipt. The person behind the desk, again looked at me with disdain and said nothing. I asked them again for a receipt, and they finally asked me, "Email?" I assumed they were asking me for my email address to send my receipt. I gave it to her, and again, she just looked at me...
Catching up with my coworker, he too was greeted, if you'd call it that, with flat affect and one or two word replies and requests. I will not be returning to this property and will advise all coworkers, friends, family, and strangers to avoid this particular property. That goes for whomever reads this review. Go a little further along the...
