This Wyndham Baymont is just a former Travelodge motel, so remember this when you book. For $170/night this is a rip-off. This review and rating is based on whether that price fits the value. Pros: -rooms are clean -bed is clean and comfortable Cons: -As you walk in you immediately feel a whiff of musty (moldy), old-hotel smell. It's not overwhelming, but it's there. -The AC unit is the number 1 problem. It's noisy and won't let you sleep, or will keep waking you up. You can also see it's dirty inside and it smells musty. I would say that's a big contributor to the musty smells in the motel. -Coliform bacteria in the water. That's more of the city's problem, but the motel did nothing to warn about it before booking. I would not have booked knowing that I can't even brush my teeth with that water. This "deal with it" attitude says a lot. When we arrived they had printouts posted "Boil your water", and there is no stove in the room. -Creepy, probably homeless drunks lounging out by the grill area, drinking beer all day and sleeping on the table. The whole 3 days we were there. -The motel puts a $150 hold on your card because they claim having had "theft of items from rooms". Makes you wonder if your own items are safe. -Abysmally poor value for the money
I don't know who gave this place a "very good" rating on Booking. I'd give it 3/10. For the price we paid it's a rip-off. Giving 1 star because everything on this evaluation scale is basically "positive". 2-star says "OK" and then it's "good", "very good", and "great". But no degrees of negative. In a normal 5-star system where "neutral" is 3 stars, this would get a 2 star rating IF the...
Read more**It was OK for a two night stay. No serious issues. *Got checked in. Hotel is a little outdated. Kinda musty. We got to our room, heat was kinda too much for my taste. For it being almost 100° outside, I would prefer not to have the temperature to be 70 plus inside. Went to turn it down almost all the way. Left for a couple hours to eat/shop. Came back and temperature never changed. Told front desk guy(who we assumed was the owner, in pic) He kindly came up and fixed it himself. (Offered us another room afterwards, we declined-tired). The tool man did the trick. It was a freezer just the way I like it! *Wish there was a chair that was more of a lounge chair in the room, just had a couple hard-seated desk chairs & a bed to sit on. I guess if we paid more money, idk. Also, the coffee pot was in the bathroom? So..make a pot while on the pot? Beds were comfortable enough, although the one squeaked while one didn't. Really annoying when you have kids who don't lie still at bedtime. (WD-40 that bi+ch) *Breakfast was eh, ok. Small amount of items to choose from and limited seating. We ate from McDonald's on day 2. Which BTW, in the way of restaurants there are plenty to choose from as long as you get there on time. It seemed like everyone closed early due to lack of staffing. (Nobody wants a job in this area?)
So, overall, basically clean room, friendly employees, so-so breakfast, outdated...
Read moreI registered myself, my daughter and one granddaughter from Indiana to stay at this Michigan hotel so that we could get to spend time with and see 2 of my other grandkids who live in Michigan. The staff watched us in the cameras and locked the pool so that we couldn't get in. Upon going to the desk to find out why it was locked. The pool was our MAIN reason for choosing this hotel for the kids to swim etc. They said we could only have 4 people in a room and the other 2 grandkids were not registered, so we would have to get an additional room in order for them to stay and to swim. I spoke to the manager and said we would cancel our reservation which was for 2 nights and go elsewhere. Then they let us stay, but we knew they were watching everything we did. Ridiculous! ...
