So, it wasn't the worst experience I've ever had but it was a little on the rough side. So my family and my sister met halfway there, they live in Michigan, we live in Ky, they rented a cabin, we rented a rv site. So we notice trash in the fire pit immediately, also noticed the picnic table top was in real rough shape from rotting and then the cabin had a small AC cut into the wall that had a real good amount of dust on it, to the point we had to clean it off because we didn't think we would get proper ventilation if we didn't. I called the office and told the lady all of the issues and she said she would come out and get the trash and make a note for someone to come swap table out and clean the AC the next day, nobody else came out but her to get the trash, we stayed 2 nights. While my son was helping clean off the table, he was casually leaning on the corner of the table so he could clear it off on the last day, well the corner broke from being rotted, and it was a big chunk. My 14 year old son fell onto the ground and almost smacked his head on the table. He was still scratched up from the table and ground. Also, we went swimming and used the paddle boards while there which is a great thing to have for sure but it sucks to see the condition things were in. I've added pics and video to back what I am saying up. The kayaks are in rough shape, most of them didnt have back rests and alot of them didnt have pulls or they were just a little rope. Why can't that get a thick dowl, cut a hole through the middle, run a rope through it and tie it to the kayaks? Just sucked being one person, having to wrestle a kayak with just a rope to the water because it isn't the best feeling in your hand. Also, they have 'boat launch', the boat launch itself isn't so bad, it could improve but the walk down and the path to get to the boat launch isn't very easy. Very easy way to get someone hurt and it sucks because it's as easy fix to pick this big rocks up and put a nice solid path in, just upsetting they didn't think of that. I've included pics of this also. The path is sandy and its pretty steep and then big rocks that aren't laid out for walking stones, they're just thrown in there on top of each other and whatnot. I took my 2 year old with me and I was so nervous because the rocks are super unstable. I can't imagine if an older person or someone with bad balance goes down there just to enjoy some time on the water and end up in the pond from falling in because I can see it easily happening. I had once put my paddle board in from the beach because nobody told me about the boat launch and didn't tell me I couldn't use the beach or hangout in the beach with it. A guy stopped on a cart after we have been on the beach and in the water at the beach alot by then. He told me to keep the board on the other side of the buoys, so I took it on the other side and he just sit and watched me as I sit just on the other side, the only other people in the water was the people that were with me but he spent 15 minutes babysitting me and probably thought I was being a jerk by hanging out by the buoys. After that is when we experienced the boat launch. Well it came to us checking out, we went to the front around 1145, I went in and thought 11 was checkout so I wanted to explain why we were late, was because my son fell because of their rotted picnic table that they said they would take care of. Well I spoke to Lisa in the office and told her the situation, can you believe I didn't even get any kind of an apology? She told me she was aware of it, that she knows the lady came for the trash 2 nights ago and took a pic of the table and they were just waiting til we left to replace it or replace the wood. That conversation really sucked because I am honest and if I get good customer service, I'll be fast to let the workers know, I just know I didn't get good customer service. My kid fell and hurt himself on their property because they have a faulty picnic table that they knew about and I don't even get an...
Read morewhen the temp warmed up the cabin never went below 85 degrees even with the air being set to the lowest setting I chose to go with a cabin just because it was temp controlled! With a child that is disabled and sensitive to temps we couldn’t even stay at the camp ground and had to resort to walking around the local dollar general and then going to a friends house. The showers were freezing from the air conditioner that couldn’t be controlled in the bathrooms! The WiFi was not usable even tho it was advertised as being usable also another reason we selected this campground.. the beach was disgusting and over grown with seaweed and dead seaweed that washed up on the beach that no one bothered to clean up the whole time we were there! The beach also had beer cans and water bottles that had been left behind also there the entire stay! We ended up leaving the campground to go swim at another beach! 15$ to rent a kayak for an hr is outrageous I have stayed places where it’s 25$ for the whole day.. 5$ For a bag of ice 10$ for firewood and 2$ for a small can of soda is way overpriced!! Over all the experience was disappointing hot and dirty! Not one staff member was available on the 4th to ask questions and no one was available when I checked out the following morning. There was a band the first night we were there and I thought hey this might not be to bad but then every night after that was just quiet and uneventful.. for the same price as a hotel they didn’t offer any amenities or even a friendly welcome! The kids fished everyday and didn’t catch one fish in your “stocked” lake which is the very least of the issues but just to add we didn’t see one person catch a fish the...
Read moreOk, been on the road all day, found Mystic Waters RV park on search engine; had some good reviews. Pulled into the lot in front of the office, neon sign says”OPEN” I thought great but the door was locked. The open hrs was posted, Sunday, closes at 6:00, understandable, didn’t see any procedures to get a site if you didn’t have reservations, so I thought I would drive thru and find a empty spot. I would park and pay in the morning. As I started pulling thru, a long haired. Young hippie looking fellow comes at me at a high rate of speed on a golf cart , pulled up to my window, yelling, “You don’t see our signs?”, it was dark and I didn’t know what he was talking about, he said there’s 2 signs that say , “do not enter.” told him I was sorry and I had not seen them, told him I was looking for a site to park for the night, YOU DIDN’T read the signs at the office. Well I did but I didn’t notice anything for late campers that do not have reservations. So I drove back to the office, he jumps off the cart, start pointing and yelling, so I said , look you have been an ass to me since I got here, I wouldn’t stay here if it was FREE. He tried to somewhat apologize, said the reason he was yelling was because the wind was blowing. Ha I’m a 72 yr old, 20 yr Army military man. I am a decorated disabled Iraq War Veteran and shouldn’t be treated like third class citizen in this the United States by some young ass long haired pug. So needless to say, I didn’t stay at this place and I will not Ever stop by this park again, so if you’re an old disabled Veteran, I...
