This is going to be a long one and I’ll probably run out of room typing because lord let me tell you the story here. We had stayed here one other time last year in the spring and it was fine, but I think because it was such a short stay. We didn’t catch onto things right away, With that said we had an emergency situation where we had to stay at a hotel for at least three weeks or so until we can get into our new place we were essentially a displaced family so that right there was already a very stressful dynamic, The first week or was fine. We understand that it’s a three star hotel so I know it’s not the Ritz Carlton, The one gentleman that works the night shift with glasses was truly a wonderful person, and I have no quarrel with him as he helped us a lot ! My issues stand with the fact that we had spent over $1600 there even with them giving us a deal doesn’t Trump the fact that we ended up having roaches in the rooms we were staying in and keep in mind I was having the cleaners come in daily to clean, when I brought this to the attention, the front desk staff was almost trying to imply that it was our fault and that we brought the bugs in even though keep in mind we went to two different rooms and they were popping out of the corners and there was a dead one in the mini fridge. There was a gentleman staying a few rooms down with a big dog as you could hear the dog, barking and growling every time U walk in and out of the hotel, which was unsettling to say the least - I had mentioned well there is a dog staying there long term and I know these bugs also love animal food sitting out so you never know since the staff was trying to imply the bugs came from me , even though I saw the cleaning crew a couple of days prior with the cheap can of roach spray going around rooms further up spraying. These were German cockroaches at that. Listen I get it, people are in and out it’s a hotel but the fact that you’re going to try to place blame on customers who already gave you over 1600 dollars is wild to me. When I brought it to Mary the manager’s attention she acted as if it was no big deal? I went to do laundry at a local laundrymat and they had infiltrated my clothing I only found one thank god but it’s not the point I finally had enough and told the hotel. I have small Children and these bugs literally carry disease and are dirty and dangerous this is unacceptable! Not to mention the one room they swapped us out for already had old dried up cheese and crumbs all over the floor,! I can see why they have a roach problem when the rooms are barely kept with in the cracks and crevices that matter! I had brought it to their attention asap, no one should have to sit in bed with a roach crawling on their hand! Even the front desk guy saw it first hand and jumped back when we had him come to our room to see! The other guys that works there told me this is why he’s careful with his own kids going there to make sure they don’t bring anything back !I should have taken that warning and left promptly but I couldn’t since I had already set up with my child’s school to pick her up there, ( it’s a process) Mary essentially jumped around the issue stating that she’s a good person, then bringing up random stories of her early years living in NY with roaches , again weird way to deflect on the matter here. They didn’t offer any sort of refund when I asked she said she wouldn’t charge me for the one day we were there although it was already the day we were going to be leaving anyways , I asked if they could do my laundry at the very least since it would have cost me a ton of money. They did but their laundry guy was in such a rush he took all my clothes like a mad man and I didn’t even have time to process that my children’s two outfits got destroyed since they’re commercial grade laundry , so when I brought that to Mary’s attention she also blamed me for that, saying it was my fault the outfits were in there, it’s called being overwhelmed by this entire dynamic we were in .wouldn’t stay again.

Run Away as Fast as You Can My family of three just stayed 3 nights at the Baymont in Pompton Plains. We moved out of state 5 years ago and needed to come back for a funeral. The Baymont (formally the Regency) used to be a cute little spot where you could book parties and have a comfortable room to sleep in. Nothing over the top or fancy, but rooms and facilities were clean and tidy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Upon arrival we thought the place was abandoned. Cracked asphalt and neglected grounds greeted us at check in. Staff was friendly, and we were checked in fairly quickly and given our room for the next three days. As we brought in our luggage we were assaulted by a smell I can’t even put my finger on mixed with cigarettes due to other guests leaving the door to the floor wide open (the security lock didn’t work anyway so I don’t see the need to do that). The hallway inside was dingy and dirty. Garbage was left all over the place spilling out into the halls. Once we got into our room we found two FULL beds (not queen like we booked) and a bathroom that was reminiscent of a jersey shore motel. The walls and moldings were crusted in gunk and god knows what. The walls between the rooms were paper thin and we heard the guest next to us on the phone with what I could only guess was an escort (he spoke about how the b**** came and woke him up in the middle of the night). Next day was somewhat better as it sounded like our neighbor next door had left. We asked house keeping for extra towels and make up one of the beds which never happened, though. Finally on the third morning while preparing for the funeral I was greeted with a cockroach in the bathroom. We checked out immediately and I informed the front desk of the terrible conditions and a picture of the now dead cockroach. He looked at my phone in amazement, as how could this possibly happen in an establishment of this caliber?? I asked if there was anything he could do for us and was told he would talk to the manager and have her call me. I told them a review and pictures would be forthcoming but have yet to hear back. Avoid the Baymont in Pompton Plains at all costs - this hotel is in a state of complete disrepair and should be your last resort.

Bottom line up front, horrible place to stay. Glad I was only here for 1 day :-( While checking in I waited for about 7 min before someone noticed I was there. I checked in around 7 p.m. and the receptionist said my room wasn't ready. While she was looking for a room on the computer, I noticed that a sign stated they charge for NOT returning the key card ($10). That was a flag from the get go. We received our room on the 2nd floor and proceeded to get unpacked. When we opened the door, there was a strong scent of Clorox and the light reflected the floor had some kind of sticky stain. We noticed that the A/C was off so we turned on the unit and opened the windows. While walking to open the windows, we noticed (laminate wood flooring) was puffy, meaning that the installation was poor and it was a trip hazard. We stayed in the room for 15 minutes and became lighted-headed as I got a headache. The fumes that were in the room were too strong. We went back downstairs to get another room. The receptionist was upset and said there were no rooms available (I heard something along the lines we need to save money). Her co-worker found a vacancy down-stairs and stormed back to the back office as her co-worker gave us that room. The room was better but you could tell that the room was older than the room upstairs. After settling in, we wanted to use the gym only to find out that the gym was locked (the gym was literally locked with a key). We went to the front desk to get the key but the same dude said management needs to be on the premises in order for the gym to be used and is only open from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. We noticed that in the hallway, all the A/C units were off. There was a strange heat wave and we went to our friend's room to find they had HUGE ants crawling on the wall and everywhere else (the room was next door upstairs). We told them we needed to change rooms.... The next day we attempted to eat breakfast. The breakfast was horrible! The coffee was stale and the continental breakfast was hard to chew. That was the last straw. We checked out immediately and we will never return. We were there for an event and I will make sure we never return to this location. EVER!

I usually don't place reviews on places, but I feel this situation is different, and I might be saving someone's life by mentioning my experience. My stay at this hotel was going to be 09/16/24 - 09/19/24. My first impression about the lobby and the room was indifferent, I mean, for what I was paying, I was not expecting the ultimate hotel. Every other reviewer who talks about the smell, the condition of the bathroom, and the breakfast is not lying. It was bad. But again, I just wanted to give it a try and see it for myself (bad idea). The first night, it was uncomfortable, but ok, however, the second night, it was when I went through a nightmare. I came back to my hotel room from one of my conferences around 10 pm, I got ready to go to sleep and after I fell sleep and around 1 am, I woke up because to my surprise someone open my door and try to come into the room, they actually unlocked the door and I yelled "Who is this???!!! And they backed up, I immediately called the front desk and told them what happened. They mentioned that it looked like someone was getting into the wrong room- Whattt?!! I told them that someone might be able to try to open the door because they got confused with their room number, but to actually unlock the door??!!! When it was closed and locked with everything the door had?? The front desk just said, "I don't know how that happened, but I can see in the camera that someone actually opened your door." They called the guest who tried to open my door, and he apologized as he got confused. I asked the front desk to change the keys again, and I did not sleep that night, thinking of what could it happen (some will actually leave immediately, I should have done that). The next day, around 9 a.m., I asked the manager and another person at the front desk how that happened, and guess what? They didn't even know what happened or just pretended nothing had happened. I told him what happened, and the manager just said again. I don't know how that happened. At that point, I was even more afraid, and I just told them that I'm leaving and I wanted my full refund. I reached out to the third party I used to book my reservation, and they contacted the manager, and she said they can only partially give me a refund because it is their policy... How can you talk about policy when there is a safety violation situation involved! I don't know what was going to happened but my safety was compromised. This sounds like a horror story, but I can assure you it is completely true, and the hotel knows it as well. As I told the manager, because she was saying it's ok and acting completely unphased by what happened, " I'd rather be safe than sorry." Please be careful in this place and call the cops if someone like this happens to you (I...

We stayed for one night as we were traveling and needed a stop over to rest and shower. We used our Wyndham membership for discount so our total was less than $120 for the night. Upon arrival 7pm we were met by a gentleman at the front desk. He was not the nicest person somewhat distant definitely not personable and somewhat rude. We got checked in as we did not make reservations online. We entered room it was clean and tidy but definitely is worn but not terrible. Definitely could use an update of drapes, carpet, ect. We noticed our room did not have the TV remote we called the gentleman at the front desk and he said he would bring it down, after about 20 minutes we walked down he had it sitting on the counter and got a little defensive on why he had not brought it to the room we told him no worries we were just glad to have the remote to watch tv. The room has a bit of a musky smell which is fine for one night however for a long stay that would be a deal breaker for us. They had sprayed a room freshener before our arrival that was rather strong so if you have bad allergies that is something to consider. We slept well on the beds they are not plush but worked fine for us. The air conditioner worked really well! We went down for the free breakfast the room was very spacious and lots of choices. I did the waffle with the waffle maker it was good my husband ate the donuts. We didn’t try the eggs or sausage. They had multiple juices, coffee and coconut milk. A couple of coffee flavors and the coffee was good and hot! We did online checkout which is very easy and convenient. We passed several workers coming and going to breakfast and they were all very friendly! Overall I would stay here again as it was inexpensive and served our needs as a one night stay over. If you are on a budget and want a clean place to stay this is a place to consider. I’m told it’s only 30 minutes to NY City we didn’t go as we were not traveling in that direction. If you are considering a NY trip and want to save on accommodations this is definitely a reasonable place to stay. We had dinner at the P&Q Diner and it was delicious with huge servings but a bit pricey. I hope this review helps others. We were skeptical in staying here due to other reviews mentioning roaches. We did not see any on our stay perhaps they...
