i would rate the other categories except the only thing I saw was a 1st. floor guest room converted to an "office". We arrived around 9:00pm with a confirmed reservation, and was promptly told they had no rooms. When I asked for options The clerk shrugged his shoulders. and said sorry no, and we left. So here we are in Petersburg, VA no car, and no options. A $60 Uber ride later, we're back at the Richmond Airport finding a room there. Imagine my surprise when I found an email on 6/23/24 with a guest folio showing a $300 + change for a stay in Petersburg, VA? I immediately called the hotel, and was assured I would be refunded. 8 days later, still no refund. On 7/1, I spoke with the General Manager, Melissa Jackson and she issued my refund. Ok, so with the charge/refund snafu settled I moved on to compensation for travel to/from Hampton Inn by Hilton - Petersburg Ft. Gregg Adams, and relief for the first night we stayed in Hampton Inn by Hilton - Richmond Airport.
I was given 20k in Hilton points for $120 worth of rides I didn't need to take, and for a room at the airport which we didn't check in until after 11:00PM because of the handling of this entire matter by management at Hampton Inn by Hilton - Petersburg Ft. Gregg Adams.
General Manager Melissa Jackson, you should be ashamed of yourself for Turning away confirmed guests without regard for safely, well-being, and having no plan for this situation. Treating this situation as a "corporate matter" that doesn't allow for flexibility by offer 20k in Hilton points which is only "worth" about $120.
As frequent travelers with disposable income we enjoy a buyer's market for goods and services such as these, and I think we'll spend our money elsewhere. I wonder what the other hotel brands are up...
Read moreStay away - far away! I did my usual search for a Hampton where we planned to stop. The description said this one was being renovated, but it was still open and available. It also said there was a hot breakfast, pool, and all the usual amenities. We arrived, parked, and made our way via a circuitous route to a makeshift front desk in a guest room. It was an obvious effort for the two young men on folding chairs to check us in, and no smile, welcome, or any mention of loyalty status. I had to ask for water. They said breakfast would be grab and go. That was OK since we had done that during COVID, and we at least had hot coffee then. We settled into our nice, newly renovated, room but had to go all the way to the first floor for an ice machine. We were lounging on the bed, watching TV, when another couple walked in on us! They were apparently given the same room as we, as their key worked in our lock. The clerks obviously didn't just look and act incompetent; they were incompetent! In spite of this, we had a comfortable night. I was sitting at the desk in the morning and looked down at the floor and there was a pill! I thought I must have dropped it, but Google told me it was not a prescription that either of us takes. So, the room had obviously not been vacuumed between guests. Breakfast was a joke! There was NO coffee. The nice female clerk offered to make a pot for us, but no way were we going to wait a half hour for that. We grabbed a muffin and left and stopped at the nearest spot for coffee. To add insult to the situation, I just looked at the rate and it is being offered for $88 now! We paid $125 plus tax for a total...

Thought it best to walk in my stocking feet in hopes it would be less slippery. Big mistake! My toes, inside my cotton socks, started sticking together, which felt so weird, because I'd just been driving in my car for 10 hours, and had no reason to possibly have had any sweating feet issues. When I checked the bottom of my feet my white socks were filthy black! When I checked the bottom of my husbands bare feet the skin was horribly filthy black as well! YUCK! Turns out the tile and carpeting were EXTREMELY DIRTY! More so than typical hotel rooms. We had to take every single towel and a spare blanket to make a path from our beds to the toilet, sink and shower.
Also, I purchased an Anti-Spy Detector from Amazon that fits in your purse, and decided to try it. The built-in detection chip has seven levels of adjustable sensitivity to detect over 90% of hidden bug devices. It's able to detect internet signals (2G-4G), radio waves, sim card bugs, and any devices that emit signals in the reception frequency range of 1MHz to 6.5 GHz. Boy does this thing work!! It sounded off so loudly that I thought the neighboring rooms would complain. Two different corners on the bathroom mirror, and the entry hall ceiling light bulb as well. The hall light can see pretty much see the whole room. My husband covered these places with towels and hoped we didn't miss any more 'bugs'.
To top it off we were quoted $178.99 for one night, but when we checked out the ACTUAL charge was $201.01!! NEVER...
