This little camp ground is pretty amazing. Many camp grounds you have to try to fight for a booking a year in advance. But this little gem is generally pretty easy to get into any time we've tried so far. Super quiet campground on weekdays. Clean bathrooms (although the motion sensor in the ladies side is very short (bring a flashlight for your shower)). The shower nozzles do leave a lot to be desired but they are pretty much bulletproof as far as abuse. They have a little camp store with the various things you might have forgotten to pack. Fire pits, and picnic tables at the sites. The camp hosts kept everything clean and did a great job. It's a short drive (this is 'murica we don't walk places) from table rock park which is an excellent place to hike. It's about 30 min from Greenville SC which has a lot of things to do if you wanted to hop over there on a rainy day. Overall this is our go to camping place if we get the bug to camp. The sites are gravel so you may want to bring a rake if tent camping on the gravel to get some of the larger rocks from under your tent location. Smaller tents might do fine on the sand area's but our "Father Abraham" 10 person tent spans a bit of space. (Image is from the visitor center we...
Read moreThere is a General store on site for any last minute things you may need, including souvenirs and ice cream! We stayed for a weekend on two sites and they were pretty large. We cooked and ate on one site and slept on the other site. We had neighbors across from us and it was rather quiet at night with occasional dog barking. There were two bathrooms in close proximity. And a trash box in walking distance as well. Our site 52 was huge but the ground wasn’t really level. We slept at a tilt. We didn’t encounter any wildlife thankfully. We attempted a hike at the Pinnacle Pavilion but failed lol we were not prepared. We decided to do a short drive to an offsite waterfall. We should have planned our hikes better. There was power and water on site. Everyone, visitors and staff were extremely friendly! Pickens, SC knows all about southern hospitality! There was a festival at the camp grounds event center. We had a picnic on the...
Read moreIt is an older state park, but well maintained, and the area is beautiful! We tent camp and our favorite site is 52 because it is has a lot of room with a flat area at the back for the tent. It is more private this most of the sites with some good trees to hang hammocks from. It is on a slop so if there was a lot of rain it might be messy but we had great weather. The general store was closed, I am assuming because it’s the off season, but the park headquarters is just across highway 11 and you can get some basic things there. We did the Table Rock Hike and it was beautiful! There are other hikes around as well. If you are there in the summer the like if beautiful and good for a swim. We will...
