Fall Foliage Season in the Eastern US | A Guide to Enjoying Autumn in the Great Smoky Mountains 🍁 and Cozy Cabin Tips

We stayed at 1709 High Rock Way, Sevierville Tn. The place we rented from is Eden Crest Vacation Rentals. Ok, let me start by saying I'm not a picky person. On the other hand, there are some things I expect when renting a cabin, or any place where I will be paying to stay overnight. My father in law decided to take the family to Pigeon Forge for a Wednesday through Sunday vacation, and we were all looking forward to it. We had 3 children under 6, and one 12 year old...and 6 adults. The cabin had plenty of room for all of us, as well as plenty of bathrooms. The kitchen was great, and we all cooked a large breakfast each morning. The large dining table was awesome, as we all were able to sit together. Each room had it's own bathroom as well as TV. There is a pool table, foosball table, jukebox, and a classic Galaga video game...(details to come). There was also a hot tub that the kids were very eager to get in. I also want to mention that there were a few couches that folded out to a bed as well...so there really was more than enough space for everyone to sleep. The cabin was roomy, rustic, and the view of the mountains outside the cabin were awesome. So why only 2 stars? The cabin was filthy, and in disrepair. You can see in the pictures how nasty it was. I've stayed in many "roach" motels in my time, and the difference with this cabin was that I wasn't expecting a "roach motel"...I was expecting a beautiful cabin that was everything advertised as well as being clean. There were dust filled spider webs everywhere in my room, and I didn't want my pillow to touch the headboard of the bed because it was so nasty. The air vent in my room was in the floor and it was somewhat closed...and even though it would get warm in my room I dared not open it because of the filth that covered it. The bathroom tub had black mildew and it smelled like a septic tank on the bottom floor. The kids and I enjoyed the foosball table, but only after I tightened about 15 bolts that were all about to come out. The felt on the pool table was torn and needed to be replaced. The kitchen sink was loose and leaking. All the windows were filthy and you could see that someone had not cleaned them in a very long time. The jukebox turned on, but didn't play anything without eventually going into a 5 second loop. The sheets on the pull out couches looked nasty and one looked as if it had blood on it (and was not washed). The main sitting room was supposed to have Xfinity cable, but the maintenance man couldn't get it working until our 2nd day. There were an abundance of large black flies in the cabin as well as ants (on the floor, cabinets, stove). Unfortunately bugs like me and I got many bug bites every time I was in the lower level of the cabin. So, if you are young, and looking for a place that you can have fun, and being clean is not as important as having enough space for everyone, then this is your place. If you are like me, and worry about your child's asthma while on vacation because there is a half an inch of dust on the walls...and your food gets ants in it, then you should look at a different place to stay. All the issues could have been avoided if the management company did what they were most likely expected to do.

Spent a week on bird nest way for a family vacation. It costed approx $11,000 for the week. First floor and third floor air conditioners did not work upon arrival, the first floor air conditioner unit was completely frozen solid. The third floor then froze up as well. We had to call maintenance three or four times to get them to send an air conditioning company out to fix it three times. ( I had to turn on the heat to melt the ice on the coils because the AC company took forever to get here). The Pool is cloudy as can be, the hot tub we had to pay to have cleaned even though it was dirty when we got here. The garbage does not get picked up enough especially for having 30 people in a big house like this. So it's piled up in our front hallway. (Smells great btw). The portable dehumidifier that they installed in the pool area does not work and there is mold and mildew on every surface in the pool room. One of Air conditioner units is completely rotted away, The sinks do not drain properly, water leaks from the upstairs showers down to the floors below causing mold in all the bathrooms. The stairs leading up to the house at the front are not nailed together correctly and are falling apart. There are spider webs and bird poop all over the exterior windows. We found garbage underneath the beds in almost every room from the previous renters. Some of the HVAC vents are not secured to the floors properly. The area and the view here are gorgeous and amazing, Dollywood is hands down my new favorite theme park. The mountain air... priceless. But we will not be staying here again. Definitely not worth the money and 1,000,000,000% not what I was expecting from a $2 million house. (Yes, I looked up the value online) We had to make multiple calls to maintenance in order to get them to just even a respond or communicate with us at one point making us wait 12 hours for the AC to get fixed because they didn't make the phone call. The 3rd floor was 80 degrees and there were kids sleeping up there because that's where the bunk beds are located. Some kind of a refund I feel like is needed.

We rented nothing but a good time cabin based on their photos of the views that we would experience. Upon arrival, we quickly realized that the pictures posted by our host were extremely misleading. To be able to see the Mountain View’s they advertised, we had to be on the top floor and lean far over the balcony. They were very careful to hide how close other cabins are from every angle. We looked down on multiple cabins roofs and a port-a-potty. There wasn’t a direction that we could look without seeing other cabins. Between the construction noises and the constant traffic noises, it was far from the tranquil stay excepted. The cabin itself provided us with someone else’s cheese crackers under the sofa, an oven door that required physical muscle to open or close, and an overhead light that wasn’t working. When we called for assistance with the overhead light, we were told that they would try to send maintenance the following day, but wouldn’t provide a time frame so that we could plan our day. We ended up waiting the entire next day for someone to come fix it. We sent multiple texts requesting a time, but after waiting in the cabin for the entire day, we finally got a response and they arrived at 6:30pm only to have the maintenance man put in a new bulb…a 40 watt bulb in a fixture that clearly required a much stronger wattage. We had previously asked specific questions about what the host provided. We were told ‘basic spices’ that translated to salt and pepper…we rented the cabin for 9 days, we received toilet paper, paper towels, dish washer pods and laundry detergent for 2 days. By far the worst cabin rental experience in the Smokey mountain area that we have ever had. There were multiple other issues, a closet for our clothes stuffed with junk, a refrigerator that couldn’t be made colder, a fireplace that couldn’t be adjusted and after all our issues, they were unwilling to give us an extra hour to check out at the end of our 9 day stay. There are lots of places to stay in the area, avoid this one...
