Saturday July 24, 2021, I along with my mom, dad, sisters and brothers, my entire family planned a vacation at SeaHawk Inn. The website states “If you are looking for a cozy, beach hotel in Atlantic Beach, with the best views of the Atlantic Ocean, we are the perfect location on the island, with easy access to Morehead City, historic Beaufort, Emerald Isle and Fort Macon. Come stay at the “Seahawk” and create great memories from your favorite place to be in Atlantic Beach! “
We were enjoying our time at the pool streaming music from the Second floor patio when we were accosted by this angry hostile employee, Karen Elaine. She was almost running towards us, screaming, with her arm outstretched finger pointing..screaming “Turn it off, turn it off!” She continued screaming stating the lyrics were offensive; however, she was unable to provide me details. This occurred in the presence of approximately 25 guests. She failed to perform her due diligence by obtaining the facts and attacked us verbally and physically as she pointed her fingers in my face.
I immediately turned it off; however, I am not accustomed to this type behavior from an employee of an establishment whose focus is service. The conduct of employee Karen Elaine was completely unacceptable and completely inappropriate and I am certain against what Seahawk represents. Not only did I obey her instructions, I did not play music for the remainder of my stay as I was fearful of being accustomed by her again.
Her finger pointing, loud screaming was conduct unbecoming and unacceptable. We finally checked out a day early. My mom was sick from the unfair treatment as music continued a few feet from us and not a single word said until… I reminded Karen Elaine of what was currently playing from the party just behind us. A song with offensive language; however, she failed to approach them until I pointed out the offensive music that continued playing in the pool area. She didn't scream at them, she didn't put her fingers in their faces. She didn’t charge at them as she did at my family. We did absolutely nothing to deserve her abusive behavior. This employee, Karen Elaine approached us with hostility and intensity, prepared to assault us over an R&B song!
Karen Elaine should have approached my family in a respectful manner and asked to have a private conversation; notifying us of the rules as they were not posted on the literature, nor were they posted on any bulletin boards or flyers in the rooms. She literally made me feel like music was banned, we were banned and she approached us with hostility; refusing to acknowledge her behavior.
Karen Elaine owes a duty to Seahawk Inn-Villas to carry out her duties with absolute care in the hospitality industry. Seahawk Inn-Villas is vicariously liable for the negligence of Karen Elaine. Her teeth were tightly clinched, eyes bulging, fingers waving. This behavior will be costly for her and the hospitality industry she chose...
Read moreMore Cons and than Pros unfortunately. My friends and I stayed here for Memorial Day Weekend. I had never been to this hotel/motel before. I had googled (did not read any reviews) the Seahawk Inn and Villas and absolutely loved the beach access situation. Bottom level you can walk right out to the beach and you have your own patio. That is was the two stars are for...could not give any more stars due to the fact I only have one more good thing to say…The customer service was wonderful. Which is most important at a place that has very little going for them. Pros: Customer service. Beach Access Cons: Flat pillows (i know this isn’t that important but go sleep on a flat pillow. It’s uncomfortable and kind of gross) I threw a wet towel on the floor. Left it there for a short amount of time, picked It up to see that the bottom part (touching the carpet) was dark blue…just like the carpet. Eww. Do you dye your carpet to avoid stains…I sell flooring..didn’t even know you could do that. Did I forget to mention the cockroaches? We saw multiple in our room. Now I will admit I’ve had some in my house…beach is tough to keep cockroaches out…however, a hotel should not have any. My personal home…well don’t judge if I live on the beach ha! Have I mentioned the bathrooms? Am I at my 86 yr old grandma’s house? Admit you need help in that area. Contact me, I can definitely help you with flooring…tile especially. Needless to say, my friends and I ended up only staying two nights…my friend paid for three. She called to discuss this matter only to talk to a representative who unfortunately could not fully help her…the representative mentioned she would speak with her boss but my friend who paid for three nights (and only stayed two due to our disappointment) never heard from your company again. So, since I am outspoken and just now hearing this has happened (I assumed Seahawk Inn and Suites took care of my friend’s issue), I expect a response from someone that can resolve this matter. Because despite my sweet friend’s following up, she never received a response. I am in customer service. I know customer service and internet reviews are important. Read moreLet me start by saying I had high hopes and ignored the bad reviews for this place. I thought maybe there was some exaggeration, that it was just older. It looked super cute online. We checked in at 630-7pm. When we got up to the room our door was already open. we immediately noticed dirt on the floor, previous guests items they left behind, and the carpet was sticky? It left a residue on our feet. All the windows and mirrors were dirty. I’m talking this is the dirtiest hotel I have ever been to. I knew it would be aged but I expect it to be clean. We began to make other arrangements for the night before checking out since we traveled so far. At 8pm we went to the front desk to check out and discuss a refund. The girl at the front desk, Lexi, was one of the rudest people I’ve ever encountered in customer service. EVER. Lexi states she is a manager...I do not understand how that could be true (but if it is...there needs to be some re-evaluation) The arrogant petty attitude was uncalled for since we were not rude to her. She refused to refund me for the night we were not staying.... and told me it was because we had stayed too long ?? An hour & change?? She never once even asked why we wanted to leave, never apologized, didn’t care whatsoever. She spoke to us condescendingly and as if we were stupid. Such a nasty attitude for what? If you can’t refund me at least be nice and apologize. Try to work with me. Something. It’s unfortunate really because I had a great experience on the phone with Kristy when originally reserving the room and I thank her for that. This place is truly disgusting, not just old. It’s not cleaned. Lexi, You really need to fix the way you speak to people seeing as how you work in hospitality. Will absolutely be spreading the word about this place and will not be returning.
Update- I have contacted everyone I can find contact information for, all the way up to the owner and have yet to receive a response. How embarrassing for this business. They do not care at all about their guests. If you’re going to have the same rates as much nicer hotels, you should be going above and beyond in customer...
