Beach Burgers — Restaurant in Atlantic Beach

This was my first time visiting Beach burgers and I was very disappointed. I purchased a combination dinner that was suppose to be for two people & a burger at the cost of $46.00 ( I noticed that the cashier went to ask the owner what to charge me for the food) that was the first RED FLAG you the cashier and you don’t know the prices are do you charge according to who the person is are what you think they got 🧐🤔SMH. I was highly surprised when I received a plate with about 3oz. Of collard greens & 4oz. of baked beans and scraped meat that was suppose to be pork spare ribs with no bones and a very small leg quarter & breast everything was not at proper temperature it was Luke warm and leftover from another day nothing was fresh on the plate but the hushpuppies and I wouldn’t even taste them, of course I just no you can’t serve leftover hushpuppies. I was a restaurant and bakery owner for 35 years until December 24,2024 I just retired from full time restaurant business but still have a bakery business where I put products in 15 locations from grocery stores to convenience store and one deli, I said all that to say this I know food cost, portions and quantity and all of those were bad. Got down here on vacation, was recommended to go here. Ordered the barbecue sandwich fries and pop, first off they dont take cards they want you to use an ATM and pay fees,,,, really??? But ok, on to the food, the barbecue sandwich was one of the worst sandwiches I have ever had in my life, had to throw half of it away, literally couldnt stomach it, it looks like tuna and tastes worse, and no BBQ sauce at all, the fries were ok, atleast they washed some of the horrible taste away from the sandwich, luckily the pop was canned. Horrible, horrible, horrible, never again!!!

"Edit" I see this big headed idiot owner cant take criticism of his garbage food!! I call them as I see them, if its good I tell the public if its bad the public should know and yours isnt only bad it was garbage, that nasty tuna fish you call BBQ should be reported to the health department!!! Maybe you should stay home and learn how to cook and maybe clean that nasty place up!!! After eating that garbage I can only assume all your good reviews are from family and friends that you pay to lie because in all truthfulness that was the worst, nastiest, most disgusting so called sandwich I have ever had...

Food is always pretty good here and I'm glad to still see this place in business after a few years. We've been visiting since they opened and the food never really disappoints, so we made sure to visit here 2-3x during our week of vacation. The pricing is also reasonable with large portions. The grilled burger is awesome. He mistakingly thought we wouldn't eat it all by ourselves since it's two grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches with a burger patty between them...we ate it all lol. The chicken philly was a group favorite with lots of meat - enough to split with someone. The BBQ is decent and the portion for the plate was large. Rib plate was ridiculously huge. The onion rings are the good beer battered kind. The staff is also friendly and polite. I could do without the owner's overly vocal criticism of a NC university though, one we all graduated from...just keep that to yourself so that you don't alienate your tourist season customers who probably went to school there or know a lot of people who have. It made for a very uncomfortable few minutes. Overall, a great and affordable beach restaurant that we'll continue to return to...
