DIRTY, really dirty!!! The sheets had hair all over...both long and dark and short and curly. They obviously do not change the sheets after each guest, but the bed was firm. Fortunately, we had our own bedding. The room smelled of wet dog and just had a damp basement feel to it. Aesthetically, it's unappealing. The walls are painted a horrible discount, close out jail cell blue. The air conditioner is a terribly loud, antique, but it did work. I just wouldn't want to know what kind of mold and organisms are living in there. The carpet was stained and damp. The customer service was horrendous. The front desk clerk was more than a little dim. We asked if they had refrigerators and microwaves in the rooms. His answer was, "not really." He is either stupid or just doesn't care about his job, I'm not sure what's worse. As it turns out, there are tiny little refrigerators and microwaves. They're really, really old like everything here. The tiny bud light fridge was unplugged when we entered the room and didn't really get cold. The microwave was dirty and had a wind up timer (LOL!), But it did function. There are also some some undesirable guests, but I guess heroine addicts come with this type of business and they need rooms too. I just wouldn't recommend bringing children here. The wifi and cable were decent. TV was small and no HBO, but not horrible. Overall, not a good experience, but I didn't see any bugs and that's better than the Plymouth Motor Lodge, but not by much. You just get the feeling that the owner doesn't care about anything, but making money and fails to realize that starts with...

Read moreIf life, the fates, or the travel gods present you with the need to stay in Terryville, CT then Jay’s Motel is an option, but one with very little to warrant the cost. No onsite laundry room, ice machine, bottled shampoo/conditioner, security door latch (just the door lock, no latch or bolt to secure the door further), and the WiFi signal won’t reach the back rooms of the property. The room was a decent size, actual offers a closet (with no hangers) and my room had a king size bed which was comfortable. It was a non-smoking room that someone had previously smoked in (burn marks around the bathroom sink) and still had a faint odor of smoke. Hopefully with travel opening up after the pandemic, and the increase in their revenue stream, the ownership will be able to add a few amenities (like a WiFi extender) to the location that would raise it to a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ and help...
