We stayed 3 nights 4 days at scotrun RV resort. Despite only booking a few weeks in advance and being told that the playground and other amenities would be open when we got there, they were not, everything was completely shut off including just an open area for my kids to be allowed to play in. So we started the trip pretty much thinking we were just going to be confined to our cabins all weekend. We stayed anyway since we had brought stuff for the kids to do, and we had driven a far distance to vacation with some family we don’t get to see much. The water pressure in the cabins when we arrived was absolutely terrible. Just dropped out at the worlds slowest trickle. The next morning (Friday morning, at 7am) we woke up and the water was completely shut off in not just our cabin but everyone’s cabin. (I believe there are 12 cabins, my family had rented 4 of them.) we had no notice that the water was being shut off or an apology of any kind all day long as well as no offer of any replacement water so that we could drink, do dishes, or at least rinse dishes. At this point I felt bad for my kids who at this point didn’t have anything open for them at the campground and now on top of it couldn’t use the water guns or water balloons we had brought for them. Thankfully they randomly decided they were going to allow playgrounds to open, so we were able to let the kids do that. The water was off for the entire day! We had woken up at 7 am and it didn’t get turned back on until 9pm! All that time and still no email/apology/anything from management or the resort giving an explanation. We had no way of even flushing our toilets. Yes they did have one bathhouse open on the opposite side of the campground but we weren’t able to drive over there every time my 2 year old needed to go to the bathroom since she’s newly potty training. The next day (Saturday) went fairly okay, until mid afternoon right before dinner, when the electric went out in half of our groups cabins. Again, no email/apology/time frame on how long it was going to be out or if they had an idea of how long until someone could come fix it. Nobody answers the phone when you call to complain to tell them the electric is out or any other problem so you have to go to the office every time to let them know. Finally at 8pm (after the office had already closed) all the electric in everyone’s cabins in the row went back on, EXCEPT my aunt and uncles cabin and again they had no way of calling to tell anyone or complain about it. We had to move food to other cabins in the middle of the night because power was still out and we were worried about the food going bad. Had it not been so late at this point we would have just left that night, we woke up and handed our keys in and left as soon as the office was open. Electric still wasn’t on in my aunt and uncles cabin and the A/C had stopped working in my cousins cabin, they had maintenance just using duct tape to fix it and we witnessed the manager of the establishment fighting with another unhappy customers that if they didn’t like it there they could just leave. The whole trip was a disaster dealing with the constant problems with the cabins we may as well have tent camped, but that wasn’t the kind of experience we were looking for or paid for. No offer of a refund/partial refund was made at all, and the hospitality...
Read morePlanned a trip on a budget. Weighted all options and turned out to be the best one. More bang for my hard earned bucks. Wanted to take kids to great wolf lodge but after finding out that balconies to the rooms are closed and construction is taking place, three days two nights was about thousand. Not happening. So I looked around the map, looking for hotels, anything around great wolf lodge and came upon scotrun camp ground thousand trails. I did some more research and was so excited. They are located one block down from wolf lodge. Meaning if my kids dont like the attraction we can visit camel back and money isnt wasted. For a cabin with a kitchen, bathroom, kids room, our room, with doors(privacy),living space and porch I saved myself well over 300 dollars maybe more. I booked a loft, (website had photos,) I will say If you have tall children like a ten year old who is about 5ft and 15 year old who's 6ft a loft cabin wont work. I needed a bit more room, willing to upgrade, the woman in the office was so kind.she grabbed some keys told me to follow . She opened the door and I was just so happy and felt so blessed. Two bedroom deluxe cabin so much space. I'm able to grill, they have two pools, one water slide, a pond with boats the kids can use. Sheetz is down the block, a walmart not to far, what more can I ask for, home away from home. I can burn wood, drink my beer, smoke my cigs outside, cook my food, and just relax and not hear society. Upon leaving the woman who kindly upgraded me, gave me inspirational advice. I just want her to know, I have been taking time out to think of myself. Thank you scotrun campground if I ever visit again I am sure to stay at...
Read moreWhen I was invited here I had no idea what I was getting into. I was told to pack enough clothes for 3 days. Make sure I have plenty of warm clothing. Make sure I take Good boots and sturdy pants. At that point I knew when I was packing that there must be something to the resort. That I need this kind of clothing. Once I got there with my friends I could see why that list of clothing was necessary. I just love the area this Has an appearance of been in the boonies and it is not. Near civilization Does not feel like it is. The cabins are so nice! they don't look really roomy from the outside but inside it's amazing how much Room there is specially if you add on to the back of the cabin. Those having electricity and running water That's what was so great. It's almost like roughing it but there's Modern conveniences like those to make it feel more Up being home. Being there with my friends Having a fire Pit on the ground with wood piled in it making a very nice fire. It was like being with my family when I was 14 and whrn we went to hawk mountain Sitting around the campfire. There we had no electricity or plumbing and we had to sleep in tents. Sitting around the fire pit was cool. Right there in nature with all the nature sounds and the nature of smells. The air was so fresh and clean just as if I was back at hawk mountain. This was such a wonderful experience as an older adult this is close to being at a place were I have experienced as a child. This is the closest I would get to that experience because I certainly won't go without the stuff that we have now at the resort said some not as young as I was then a teenager. This is the next...
