Whoa baby, this was good West Indian food! We went to get it first time we stayed at Great Wolf Lodge and were disappointed to see there was no seating inside, take out only. This time we planned for it.

We ordered almost everything they had at the moment: Curry Goat, Jerk Chicken, Oxtail, Fried Whiting (with plantain fries), roti, mac & cheese, okra (aka "ochroes"), beef patties, and maybe some more I'm forgetting. Everything was delicious! We felt it was the best we've had.

The stars were the oxtail, roti, and beef patties. If the beef patties aren't homemade, they sure taste it. Not the standard Golden Krust variety. They're quite spicy (with a heat that builds over time) and nicely flaky. The roti is flaky, moist, and huge. We got three and couldn't finish them with eight people (granted, there was lots of other food). We also think the roti was made with lard, so that helps. And then there was the oxtail, holy moly. It was powerfully good: sweet, cinnamon-y, falling off the bone. Perfect oxtail.

The large dishes were all served over fantastic rice and beans, with cabbage, and fried plantains. The plantains were funny, because each dish only had two small pieces, they were tasty, but not enough. That was made up for by the massive serving of rice & beans. In each dish we were impressed by how the rice picked up the sauce from what was on top.

The only disappointed part was the delivery. Granted it was a snowy night, but Caricom is right in front of Great Wolf Lodge, after an hour of no delivery, we called for an update, and were told 15 minutes. It took another 35 minutes for a total of almost 1 hour and 40 minutes for the food to arrive. That's kind of ridiculous. The people who work there are extremely friendly.

Next time we're in the area, we'll definitely have this again! (but we'll order...

UPDATE- I have dropped my review from 5 to 2 stars. We must've really lucked out that first time we ever called here and were actually able to order food. Since writing this review we have tried to order again on FIVE separate occasions and each time we were unable to get food. Two times they closed earlier than their hours listed say on Google, once the answering machine message said they were closed randomly for a few days during a week in May, and twice we were told they were sold out or did not have the meals we wanted to order. I'm not a fan of the whole, "text in your order" especially when you text them and it takes 15-20 minutes to get a response. I'm so sad about their poor customer service and the fact that they are never open when they should be. All I want is to enjoy their delicious vegan food but I guess it's based on luck if you can actually get it.

I've been wanting to try this spot for awhile because I read they have a lot of plant-based options. We were at Camelbeach for the day and were looking for a restaurant nearby with vegan options which honestly, it's pretty slim pickins' in the Poconos area as far as that goes. I had no idea we were only about 1 mile from Caricom Spices! We called and the owner texted us the menu. We placed our order immediately and drove over. We had to wait for it in our car and they called us up to the window when it was done. We got the meal with the vegan jerk chicken. I was pleasantly surprised to see how large the portions were and I was happy to eat my leftovers as lunch the next day. The food was hot- both temperature and spicy. I LOVED it. Really a gem that my fiance randomly looked this up during a long road trip as I was hangry and really craving amazing Caribbean food on the way back to Pittsburgh. I woke up in Staten Island craving doubles and roti and much to my chagrin there were ZERO options open unless we attempted to go to Brooklyn which we didn't have the time for... So I had an itch to scratch since morning...

This place ❣️ A true blessing. One Love to my Liberian sister who served us. Lila was so personable and sweet! We arrived 20 minutes to closing desperate and skeptical because we were so far from NYC...

I ordered Jerk Salmon which came with a bed of sliced potatoes and Roti. I only regret not ordering the pumpkin or spinach on the side I was also wishing for...

But baby! The serving size was just right! Flavor profile? Correct! COMPLETELY satisfied with this meal. Can't wait to try the vegan options.
