Budget Inn — Hotel in Pompano Beach

I had a reservation through a 3rd party which is how I always book. There is a new employee young Haitian girl who is at the front desk. I have been to this location quite a few times and was told by the Manager of that location that the $50 fee does not apply to smoking rooms. I booked a smoking room, but was told by the women behind the desk that there will be a charge to my card. I went back and forth with her stating I never have been charges due to booking a smoking room as per manager. I asked to speak with the manager and was told he was not there. I asked if she may call. The lady picked up a phone as she called me a "F* B*" under her breath and went into a back room. She returns and says that I will be charged the $50 I asked to speak with the manager and was told "No he is busy you can come back at 5pm to speak with him if you will not allow the $50 charge". Just wanting to get it over with I gave the women my card and was charged. I was again explaining that this is not supposed to happen. She then hand me a receipt that I said I will sign after I speak with a manager. She say she will not check me in if I do not sign. Frustrated I signed and the pen riped a small portion on the side. I did that was not on purpose and asked for my key. The lady again goes to the back and when she returns tells me " we will not be checking you in, you are trouble." It is 345pm and I sayed in the lobby untill 520pm waiting on the manager who was late. When I asked the woman at the desk to call the manager at 510pm she ignored me and proceeded to say " you shouldn't even be in the lobby we are not checking you in." i was so upset at this point I called the police and 1 minute later the manager comes out and I then explained I no longer needed there assistance. The manager was also rude. I was now told that there is a fee. I then just said its paid I would like my key. Manager said "No" because there is a ripe on the receipt it is now void and I would have to pay the deposit again." So sick of being there I gave my card again and was told by the manager " we will not except that card" So I then tried to use another card that I could pay half and half cash. Manager said "No, all cash or all card". I said after waiting for over 2 hours why are you making this so difficult"? He than says to me, "I don't even want you on the property I will not be checking you in." ||This is the most horrible, disrespectful disgusting place and people I have ever been around and met. This story I will be sharing to Corporate, BBB and whoever else will listen. ||I should never have been treated, talked to or...

Not worth it.

If you are low on money and are in dire need of a place to stay immediately, then the pricing and availability here will fit that financial need. Other than the pricing, I would not recommend this location to anyone.

They are renovating and the rooms being renovated are just as worse as the old rooms that are available.

The old rooms: Have roaches. Sheets are not clean. I had to go to the hospital because I spent about 30min in a non-smoking room that reeked of smoke (I went to a grocery store and when I came back the room smelled of smoke). I am unsure if it was the construction workers or not but I went to the hospital for an asthma attack.

New rooms: If you have children, please do not come here. It is not safe. My electricity went out of my room several times. The curtains were placed in a way that was very loose and dangerous. The first room I was in, the curtain nearly fell on my 2 year old toddler. The hanging wood, curtains and bars all came crashing down with some of the ceiling. I don't think it was properly placed in nor was it placed in by someone who knew what they were doing. I was placed in the next room and I immediately noticed this room's curtain chamber was hanging by a thread and soon ready to fall. I literally kept my kids in bed all day away from the door, in fear that the curtain chamber would fall on my children.

I honestly am surprised that this place hasn't been tagged for an inspection or shut down at the moment because I know there has to be so many violations they are failing. I normally don't place in bad reviews but the fear I had was real and safety here is not a concern.

The day of my leaving, the manager attempted to forfeit my $50 deposit because I left a gallon of milk in the room and he claimed one of my kids colored a line into one of the sheets. I explained to him that I had not complained and treated everyone with respect regardless of the condition of the rooms and that I was not going to pay $50 for him to REWASH the sheets (he claimed he needed to buy new sheets). The only reason I received my $50 deposit back was because I began complaining about the curtain chambers nearly falling on my children. Good business move to avoid a law suit.

Lots of truckers come to this location because of the location near a major roadway - but so do the drunks and drug abusers. I did my research and the motel next door, once was raided for drug activity. As a parent, DO NOT COME HERE WITH CHILDREN. It's just too risky.

**Also, their handyman was drunk two nights...

I had to delete my somewhat positive review.. THIS PLACE IS NOT SAFE--- I REPEAT NOT SAFE... 2 MEN TRIED TO BARAGE THRU MY ROOM. I was in the middle of moving and just needed a place to stay temporarily. The last night I stayed was a REAL NIGHTMARE! My friend stayed with me two nights prior, one time a girl knocked on the wrong door-- no big deal. I did notice some people were outside at different times thru out the night again nit a big deal. South Florida has gotten so expensive , sadly many people LIVE in hotels and may just be getting air. I went to the room alone and had been moving things to and from storage units etc I was exhausted. I went in the room a woman alone ,locked up and put the latch up THANK GOD! I heard a very faint tap, barely a knock and ignored it. I was about to fall asleep then heard a regular "knock knock" and not having company come over, I assumed it must be someone at the wrong door by mistake and I yelled out "You have the wrong door"... we'll about a minute after a hear BAM BAM BAM BAM , a man shouting "open this muthaFkn door right now", I grabbed my cell called the front desk in tears whispering "someone's at the door they're trying to get in" the lady at front desk said she heard them too they were banging so hard it seemed like a battering ram ,the woman heard it she confirmed, then he shouted "imma come back allllll night u gonna open this door" and he's banging SO HARD the lights from outside were cracking thru the seem of the door. I WAS IN TEARS, IN A PANIC FREEZE. I said to her "can u see him what does he look like", "I'm gonna call the police ".... the front desk woman said "no u dont have to call the police I can see on the cameras they left the property and security is going to come bye"... "I said THEY?!? There is more than ONE person there???? (I only heard one voice). Idk WHY I didn't call thru police mainly becuz BSO is a joke... I would've been interrogated more than them getting info about what happened. The woman assured security would be watching out. I was up every hour. I called back an hour or so later and told another woman what happened. I asked her to please inform the manager because I was SOOO exhausted... I finally fell asleep. RATHER then offer ANY apologies the manager accused me of being "paranoid" and was rushing me out in the A.M. stating he would call the police ON ME... His own employee heard the person trying to enter the building and also saw them on camera.........
