Hotel hidden in a bad area. Not necessarily that near PDX as stated within 8+ miles or so there's plenty of other hotels much better quality that are closer. Anyone who stops in front of the doors to check in &/or get their parking pass will block the entryway. Parking is $14 for a flimsy arm gate to the back lot. Upon arrival 2 female front desk workers were too busy gossiping about other guests that had just checked in.. something about waiting too long for the airport shuttle so canceled it (why should I as a new arriving guest know this? Hence how freely they spoke of it.) As my daughter & I stood there waiting to check in, mind you the lobby was completely full of guests. After 1 front desk female left the other proceeded to tear down the box she was holding rather then check me in as I stood there watching her... again the lobby was full if waiting guests. She literally acted as if I were invisible until I said "Excuse me, but can we check in?" She kind of gave a nasty look as how dare I. Anyways during the check in she was mumbling & speaking really low to where I had to keep asking her to repeat herself. During check in another guest asked her about the ice machine, and the other female prior walked up to him & handed a garbage bag of ice. Got my things & left to get into the room. Going to the elevator all we smelled was weed. Elevator is very slow. Halls are dark, broken ice machine visible with tape over it, walking through the hallways it had a musty, humid, weed stench so thick I felt like I just ate it. Room smelled of urine. Bathrooms VERY tiny. Kept getting bit open sheets & saw bed bugs. Blood stains on sheets. Ants on pillows. The bed is where the urine smell was coming from. Ended up sleeping on the couch. Shower has the poorest water pressure, almost impossible to rinse the shampoo out. Never wanted to leave a hotel so fast before. Total of 12 bites on my legs. Housekeeper kept banging the vaccum on our door in the am. Gave us a nasty look while leaving. Cars next to mine had their trunks broken into. My alarm had actually gone off at about 3am. Radisson name itself is usually a very nice hotel... this looks as if Radisson bought out a motel 6 or Shilo & just renamed it. Very ran down not like any Radisson I've ever stayed at before. Never have I ever wanted to leave a hotel so fast & not relax until check out. Never again would we stay there. Need better management to control the issues because it's clear during my stay that the cleanliness in the rooms are not as stated. Other reviews have had great experiences, I...
Read moreVery clean for any hotel I've stayed in. Even the air filters on the AC had been washed. The bed was comfy and the room was quiet, spacious, and dark when I wanted to sleep. They include ear plugs for light sleepers but I had no trouble.
Location is kinda meh for an airport hotel. Your views are limited to a parking lot or an office park. If you plan to use mass transit, be prepared to walk 20+ minutes to the nearest stop, which is crazy when the airport has its own bus and shuttle stops. And no, the shuttle from the airport is not available to take you to a bus stop 1 mile away.
Which brings me to the last. Radisson offers a free shuttle from the airport. It's the only way to get back to the hotel without walking through a homeless ghetto or paying extra money for an Uber/taxi. Unless you take the bus or train to the airport, then you can call and they'll come grab you.
Getting to the airport from the hotel, they will tell you/have signs posted saying that you need to plan ahead. It's a good thing I had time, I know some guests won't.
Since I had about 4 hours before flying, I asked if I could take a shuttle to the nearby mall (Cascade Station) to kill some time. They said no, made a call to their one (1) driver who confirmed that was a no. They suggested I go back up to my room because checkout time was still a few hours away. Meanwhile, three shuttles are parked with no drivers available. So, I asked about how soon I could take a shuttle to the airport. Oh no problem there, it's going to be about 30 minutes. This mall is 2 bus stops away from the airport.
So I have to take my free time to work around YOUR system...but there are 50 other hotels in the area who have a shuttle that'll take me anywhere within 5 miles, it's pretty much a standard practice. It's noteworthy that I was the only one on the shuttle, holding zero other people up.
Overall I have loved staying at the Radisson hotels in other cities. Ultimately, it is the management that is at fault. The front desk was visibly uncomfortable that they weren't able to provide a simple solution to the customer. The driver was sympathetic too, but hey, those are the rules. The bottom line is they were trained to make no exceptions and the decision to inconvenience their customer was out of their hands. I can't imagine that will last. This is a 3.5 star hotel and I've had better amenities at a 2 star...
Read moreMy family and I visited Portland for the first time and we booked our stay with Radisson through Priceline for three nights.
The rooms were comfortable. Room 322 was on the third floor with open windows to the lake out back which was filled with ducks and a pathway. The beds were made and changed by housekeeping each morning. The beds are cozy and they provide ear plugs for people who have trouble sleeping due to the roars of airplanes nearby. The hotel is situated by the airport, but we did not have a problem with the noise.
There are rooms on this floor that are being remodeled and they look spectacular. The workers were quiet, and we did not have any issues with noise. The only noise present were guests going back and forth from their rooms and the door slamming, or when a guest right above us used the toilet or shower. Overall, it was not bad, and we cannot wait to see the progress when we return.
I gave this hotel five stars, and will return, simply because the location is quick and easy to get to, and the employees were friendly. Front check-in staff, waiters and waitresses, housekeeping, and construction workers were all friendly.
There is a bar and grill downstairs called Lakeside bar and grill. I recommend having their cheeseburger and fries or sliced sirloin with mashed potatoes and veggies. They also provide breakfast, but for a fee. For this service, I would probably eat out somewhere else that has more variety. They provided glasses of milk for our daughter, which I poured in her bottle, and this was much appreciated. The fridge in our room was okay, but the milk was not as cold as I wanted it. The new fridges for sure will become better.
The hotel also has a gym, laundry room, and shuttle service to and from the hotel.
Visiting Portland was a great experience, and if you are traveling through or want something to eat, you can either park on the street or pay for parking, get a room by the lake and stay a night or two, or three. I recommend this hotel for a drink with friends, stay with family, or a quiet and peaceful read...
