f I could give no stars, I would. This is the first review I have ever written for a hotel - mostly I just try to be reasonable in my expectations - especially for small town hotels. I travel often, to big & small cities in the US & Europe mostly. This was a last minute overnighter on president's day with my young children to get out of the cold, swim & see the petroglyphs at nine mile canyon. Our "deluxe" room was dirty, the bathroom was disgusting, with mold , rusty hardware & sloping flooring, the furniture is dated and some of it is very stained and worn. Having said that, from a distance, the pool still looked okay so we tried to make the best of it. I set to work figuring out how to survive a night in the hotel so my littles could swim. I regret that initial decision on so many levels.||||The flooring around the pool is what is used for outdoor basketball courts, it shreds your feet. The sides of the pool are a strange steel or aluminum that is stained with rust dots and water spray, the hot tub was broken & totally out of order. All of this was awful, but the worst was still to come! Our staff qinteractions around the pool with an incredibly hostile, aggressive and clearly very unhappy & child hating woman named Ronnie just moved one of our worst hotel experiences to the top of the list as absolutely the worst hotel experience we have ever had. It's okay if you're an adult with other adults eating pizza by the pool or lunch or pretty much doing whatever you want in that area. But if it's 19 degrees outside, you've been given permission by one staff to swim a little longer after check out (11:30am vs 11am) since the hot tub was closed the night before but your children are eating a few crackers contained in a cup, you will get kicked out. The adults can eat around pool, not the kids - apparently. Also, no water allowed by the pool- if kids are drinking from a metal water bottle - that's not allowed. ||||It's okay t swim a little extra time after checkout according to some staff since the hot tub was broken the night before & is finally repaired. But it's not okay according to Ronnie. Ronnie refused to check with the other staff. It's just a huge double standard with adults vs children - even very well behaved and closely monitored children.Inconsistencies with staff - Ronnie in particular whom other guests with children on our check out day also had negative interactions. And worse, inconsistencies between staff about extending our swim time - after a broken hot tub and a refusal to talk to the other staff about what was offered to us. I jumped online and rebooked the hotel (it was cheap so what the heck) so my kids could keep swimming -and we could just easily recover from this negative interaction. But Ronnie then refused the booking despite withdrawing our money for it. ||||Ronnie was a very aggressive person - yelling at me across the pool, yelling at us about the crackers & water bottles - then never leaving her desk (see picture) to discuss the rebooking I have never experienced anything like it. When asked her politely to talk to the other staff (no managers on site) instead of replying or contacting the other staff, she called the police - to evict us - it was insane! It was 11:30am! and she never even asked us to leave. Later, when she refused our second booking., the police refused to come because I had booked another night & the food was politely put away. This was just the most bizarre hotel staff interaction I've ever had in my life. With Ronnie clearly unhinged. This was just the most bizarre hotel staff interaction I've ever had in my life. I have never really had a negative interaction with any hotel staff at any hotel before. I'm a pretty mellow person. This was unbelievable.||||If you value your sanity, consider hygiene important, or even slightly like your children, I do not recommend staying here. If you enjoy being gaslit & treated in a hostile manner, if you like dirty hotels & if you don't care how inappropriately adult staff act around your children - then this is the place for you! The next day the holiday inn express in Price had vacancy so we stayed there just to end the trip on a better note - so much nicer, great pool & hot tub, lovely breakfast & best of all...
Read moreStayed here a few weeks ago for a convention I attended through work. I had high hopes as the pictures on the website looked nice, and the star rating suggested I could expect a nice, clean room. Lesson learned - you should never trust a photo. Front desk staff was friendly enough, but my room was reserved and prepaid by my employer without any issues, and the nice lady expected me to produce my employer's credit card to pay for the room. She claimed that she needed it to charge the room - well, they were given the card info at the time of reservation. Long story short, after a failed attempt to reach her manager, she finally just ran the card info and what do you know? Everything was just fine. I wish I could say the same for the room... where to start? This was a mini suite, so I expected a little better than cheap room. I don't think anybody had been in that roomm for months. The floor was so dirty you could feel it under your shoes. Walking in your socks turned white to black in just a few steps. The food crumbs from the previous guest were still under the table and chairs. I had to literally clean large cobwebs out of the corners and dispose of the spiders that were waiting to crawl over my sleeping body. Did I say sleep? The bed was a very well used and worn out inner spring mattress on a platform, no box springs. Those mattresses are not designed to be on a platform, so there was little restful sleep, and plenty of aches and pains the mornings. The shower did not drain while using it so you stood in tub of water. Thankfully by the next time it had drained. Hardwwod floors? Ha! Try cheap plank flooring with a veneer installed over a very uneven and noisy subfloor. Need an outlet? Good luck! At least there was one by the bathroom sink so I could plug in an air freshener I had to buy to help cover up the strange, stale, musty odor. No, I didn't stay in an upscale hotel or pay a lot for the room, but their website would lead you to believe you'll get a high quality room. If this room was indicative of the others then I can safely say you won't. The whole place just has a sense of slumlords running it into the ground. I don't think there is any proactive maintenace or cleaning being done, rather an attempt to milk as much money out of the hotel as they can before it closes for good. I will not be staying again to find out if this room stay was an anomaly. Based on other recent reviews, I think this is the norm at the...
Read moreRooms are small and outdated. Furniture in rooms is well-worn. Good Location. I stayed because I thought it would be an affordable one-night stay on a business trip, but when I arrived I was told I would have a $100 deposit charged to my card in addition to the $79 room fee. It was never mentioned when booking the room a few weeks ago, but I agreed since I already drove 6 hours from Colorado to get here. I was told the $100 charge would be refunded in 7 business days. Not ideal. I was then charged the amount for the room and deposit TWICE. The Greenwell Inn charged me $358 dollars aka 4.5 Times the room fee. They claim that they were unaware the system double charged and that I will be refunded eventually, but they couldn't say when. Interesting enough, while I was dealing with the front desk, another man came in and stated he had also been overcharged twice his weekly bill ($500 x 2!). They are clearly aware that they are holding egregious and dishonest amounts for their deposit holdings and choosing to play dumb about it. Basically Greenwell Inn is holding almost $300 of my money hostage for possibly a week that I never agreed to allow them to hold or anticipated to be without on my trip to Utah. This absolutely crippled my trip budget immediately. I was unable to afford Dinner the night I checked in and will have to loan money from friends and family in order to afford breakfast and gas to leave town. I hadn't made plans to make any personal purchases and work within my travel budget given by my employer. Front Desk provided no help and refused to contact a manager or give a refund of the fraudulent extra charges even when shown evidence of the doubled charge. They acted as though I was trying to pull a fast one on them, instead of showing any sympathy for the extreme inconvenience they caused me. Claiming they don't want to "accidentally give me my room for free" like they don't have my credit card info already on file and ready to charge extra charges if they see fit anyway. I even called the bank and confirmed on the phone in front of them that I was charged twice. The manager (who arrives late) was here in the morning and seemed more helpful and polite but provided no actual help or resolution. The Owner was called and refused to refund me my money or give me a comped meal at the restaurant attached to the hotel. They do no care about their guest's experience. They are scam artists. DO...
