I had spent the winter here 2 years ago. This Septeber I went to BLM LTVA Imperial Dam near Yuma, but immediately left as the area was quite hilly (about 3 RVs to a hill) and a pond that requires a long walk to. At BLM LTVA La Posa West near Quartzite, AZ I find the desert flat there for many miles, and you can pick an area with close neighbors or neighbors far away. I like neighbors but not too close so I park about 500 feet away. The small town of Quartzite is only 5 miles away but it has everything you need including a Pilot & Loves fuel stations, Burger King & Subway and hometown restaurants and grocery stores. In January of each year Quartzite holds an RV venders & Gem venders under huge tents, that sells new stuff coming out for RVs and prescious and semipresious gems and handmade jewelry, brought directly from rock mines across the U.S. to Quartzite. I love the 72 degrees in the winter here! I pay $180 for a 7-month permit (includes a dump station, water station and trash dumpster. Unfortunately, in 2025 the 7-month permit for all BLM LTVA in Arizona & California are going up to $600 for 7-months. I can afford the $600 permit for 7-months as it is still cheaper than renting a site at one of the many campgrounds in Quartzite. My camper van has solar panels and there are several propane filling stations in Quartzite. I am a full-time RVer and will be back here next year to...
Read moreI've tried to camp here before because it's so close to town ,I can walk or bike ride to everything but normally it is so crowded I ended up in a different LTVA. This year I got an excellent spot and not crowded at all. The host are amazing and care about the area and make sure it is a safe, pleasant environment for boondocking. It's only 2 miles to the dump station at the south LTVA ,the season pass allows you to camp anywhere and use the amenities. I will get here early enough next year to make sure I get in the west LTVA. I am spoiled now from getting a spot...
Read moreGate guard was extremely rude. I was only 4 min past 4pm and he told me to “get out of here and come back tomorrow at 9am.” He must have had a bad day. So they really close closer to 3pm and they do not open at 8am according to this info. I drove all day, had tired kids, and did not need to be met by this disgruntled government worker. I realize I was 4 min past, but he could have at least talked to me nicer. The guard was on the closing...
