We booked our reservation through Expedia for 2 nights during the "off" season. The room was very large, clean and comfortable, though not typically what I think of when I think of a bed and breakfast since it was more of a motel behind their house. It was also decorated in a beach theme which I found odd and off putting for the location. I would have much preferred a cabin, lodge, historic, or ANY other theme that matched the locale. When we asked about when and where breakfast would be in the mornings, we were told that we had booked the room for the cheaper rate that did not include breakfast...wait what? Apparently, there is a communication breakdown somewhere between the B&B and the website, or the website and the consumer, but we were NEVER informed that breakfast was not included. Isn't that the second "B" in B&B?! It ended up being fine for us because we aren't huge breakfast eaters, but beware if you book through a 3rd party website to check if that's the non-breakfast rate. I'm assuming most guests would want and expect that to be included. We had a second-story room that overlooked a prairie behind the property. Though there was only one small window, the room had a number of skylights that flooded the room with ample natural light during the day which was nice. Overall, we really enjoyed staying here despite not having breakfast and the weird beach theme. We had to call for an item and it was brought right away...
Read moreWe checked in at the Shipwreck restaurant and bar which is located adjacent to the B&B. Erich (owner & innkeeper) showed us to our room for the next 4 nights. Our room was the Relax room on the upper floor of the home. It was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. There was a large living area with tv, table & chairs, dresser, small makeup table, bed and nightstand. The bathroom was large with a bathtub/shower. There also was a large closet area which worked out well for us to leave most of our belongings packed and just hang things that needed to be. |Erich and Nancy own the Shipwreck and the B&B, lovely couple and very friendly and helpful. Our breakfasts were at the Shipwreck each morning. We could order what we wanted from the menu. There were several cooks some better than others, but all in all the breakfasts were very good. |The Sweetgrass is in a great location, just outside of Rapid City to the southwest. We had easy access to all the sights we planned to see; all within an hour or less drive.|We would highly recommend the Sweetgrass for quiet simple accommodations. If you need swimming pool, fitness center, or other amenities, then you may want to stay...
