Many things gluten free. Food not tasty though. Server was okay but seemed a bit unhelpful in the gluten free department. Said if I wanted the tater tots that they have a gluten free fryer and it would be 25 minutes to warm up to make them. We did not want to wait 30 minutes for our food. So much for the gluten free dedicated fryer....total waste. Atmosphere was ok .. not a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Served the wedge salad with a diluted balsamic vinegar dressing. Not blue cheese. It had some blue cheese crumbles which did not go with the balsamic dressing. Later someone asked for blue cheese dressing on their salad...Wish I had known...I should have asked. Because I didn't want to wait 25 minutes for them to heat up the dedicated fryer I got the cottage cheese...which was bland and not at all tasty. The chicken sandwich on a gf bun was a skinny piece of flattened meat, so dry. No breading because it was gf. And the server also said no cheese...because there is gluten in cheese??? NO .. no gluten in most cheese! Just because you can't have gluten doesn't mean you have to be dairy free as well. Especially since I was having cottage cheese. The server should ask, not assume. No sauce of any kind. So dry...but all the moisture was in the bottom of the gf bun, causing it to be gooey and just fall apart turning it into mush. Did not prepare the gf bun well. Will not go again. But in a pinch you can get something there.

We stopped in for supper after a long day on the bikes. They had a live musician on stage singing who was pretty good. It was a little loud but to be expected in a small bar/restaurant. I had the bone in wings with Buffalo sauce and these are probably the best wings I have ever had! They were crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. They were pretty meaty too. We also had the beer battered fish with sweet potato fries and they said it was the best fish they could ever remember having. The fries were also crispy on the outside and hot and moist inside, not dried out like a lot of times at other restaurants. We will absolutely come back here. They do have an outdoor patio but we didn't get out there due to the rain. The staff were all very friendly and the food was served in just a few minutes after we ordered. My compliments to the chef! He knocked it out of the park today.

After a day of experiencing the Buffalo Roundup at Custer State Park, we headed back to where we were staying in Rapid City. We were quite famished, and happened upon Shipwrecks Bar and Grill so we decided to stop to get a couple beers and a bite to eat. My husband had a cheeseburger with fries and I had fish and chips. We both decided on Buffalo Snot oatmeal stout by Mount Rushmore Brewing Company. The food and the beers were good. Nancy, the owner, brought us our food and chatted with us for a little while (very pleasant - thank you for the explanation on the restaurant name!) Overall, we had a decent restaurant experience. Thank you all at Shipwrecks!

While doing some research on the Black Hills region for an upcoming trip, I came across Shipwreck's Bar & Grill website and saw that it was well reviewed. Wasn't sure we'd be able to stop in but the opportunity arose about 8:30 on a weeknight. The place was empty, which is usually not a good sign. We were seated and ordered drinks from the full bar and chicken wings for an appetizer. For our meals, two of us ordered the walleye sandwich special and two of us ordered walleye dinners. ( I guess we were betting on the walleye.) Good choice. The fish was cooked to perfection. Nice sized fillets with the dinner. Wings were also cooked well and very tasty. My only complaint is that we had just started working on our wings when our dinners arrived. But since when is quick service a bad thing? Overall, we were impressed with both the service and food at Shipwrecks Bar & Grill. If ever back in the area, we will try to stop in again. By the way... we drove by the next night closer to 6 pm and the parking lot was packed, which is usually a...

While I had such high hopes for this place, after eating here Saturday evening, I was incredibly disappointed. When we walked in there was only one table occupied in the restaurant and two men playing country music near the door, so loudly in fact that it was impossible to have a conversation with the woman I came to dinner with, and when we did talk, we had to shout at each other. Why this duo had to pay so loud is beyond me. The one occupied table kept shouting at the country duo to play certain songs which just added to the insane amount of noise. We had to ask our server once for a refill on our drinks and I had to go ask her for condiments, two tables in the restaurant must have overwhelmed her or it was just more important to keep the shouting table happy? My date and I ordered the steak tips, they were mediocre. Some were very tender, others rubbery. One of the worst dining experiences I've had around the area in a very long time. I...
