3 weeks ago, Will Goodwin posted a review that matched 95% of my experience. I selected this place because we were hosting a friend and her 8 year old for their first RV outing. My site was a swamp when we pulled in on Friday. We had to push so far back, 2 inches off a tree to find a spot where the door wouldn't open in 3" or more water. They laughed at me at the front office when I checked in and asked what he meant by all the water. Quote: "Well, it has been raining all day, what do you expect?" My answer was that I don't expect to park in a pool. Maybe I should have said, kiddy pool. I select RV parks with the expectation they cater to RVs and ours is a 40" class A. Do they think we want to park these rigs in mud and water. Well, the next day explained a lot. After the water receded, we repositioned and sat for coffee and watched thing unfold. The place was chaos. The golf carts overwhelming. I stopped counting after 300 cars, trucks and golf carts passed and it wasn't even noon. Thank god they had activities so our guests were entertained all day long. I stayed at the site to read and relax but without ear plugs, all you hear are golf carts. Oh wait, there is a balance. As I sat and read with my ear plugs in, I was blessed with the occasional whiff of pot that someone was smoking at another site. Now that it's legal, I guess it's acceptable to smoke in the open. Fine by me, to each his own. When the night came, the golf carts didn't stop but in fact, became dangerous. Our site was next to a speed bump that some people try to avoid by driving off the edge of the road to lessen the bump. The more drinking, the worse the driving became. When 11pm rolled around, it slowed, but didn't stop. Golf carts with headlights pilled high with people going from the dance to different sites. Just walking or riding bike was nerve racking. My friend had to help a young boy back to his grandparents site because he crashed his bike avoiding a car and golf cart that were passing to close. After that, she wouldn't let her son walk to the bathroom by himself. I'm all for having fun. I used to have a seasonal up north and even had my own golf cart but never did I ever endanger myself or anybody with a such erratic behavior. This place is huge, and I don't see a problem with golf carts when used responsibly but after dark, they should no longer be allowed especially given the amount of drinking that occurs at this RV Resort.
In my honest opinion, The term resort is a bit of a stretch. This place is nothing more than a summer trailer park of weekend warriors coming to blow off some much-needed steam. The place does an excellent job of creating activities for the kids and even the adults. The 5% that I didn't agree with in his review is the term douche bag. With the exception of the idiot that checked us in on Friday night, everybody we engaged with is extremely friendly and really looking to just have a good time and you can't find fault in that. So if you're looking for an RV resort, look else where. If you're looking for some laughs and a bit of chaos you found the...
Read moreThis was our first time camping here so I wanted to post our experience. Overall, i’d give it a 3.5 it was good but could be better for things that are important. When we arrived with a trailer we realized our site was too small for trailer let alone the truck(we did get a site that was meant for campers due to the trailer we had). Our friends that were also staying, ended up with a campsite that was in ditch with tall grass. (later on someone showed up to site to mow it) We headed back up to the office, and spoke to the girl at the front desk. She was pleasant and gave us both a space we were pleased with. ours was decently spacious and next to the pavilion, also very close to the little beach, which was great! The sandy beach was clean. We loved the trampoline / slide in the water and the kids had a great time fishing. We enjoyed the candy bingo that the campground put on and also the dance party (was supposed to be trivia night but it was cancelled, we were okay with that, my son had a blast dancing). We met many people during our stay and everyone was very friendly including the seasonal campers! Now, for the cons…. The women’s bathrooms were not the cleanest but rather on the dirty side with hair, bugs, toilet paper on the ground, one stall closed and clogged the entire time of our stay and the hot water not working on the sink, the showers weren’t much better but the water got hot which was good since it was so cold this weekend. in the men’s bathroom, there was multiple broken showers and also not very clean. Another con was, We stayed a weekend that was rainy and gross so we really looked forward to the arcade for our kids. When we arrived to the building, our kids were so disappointed to see there was in fact, no “arcade” like we saw in pictures, instead, it was two games (a basketball game and an air hockey game) both unplugged with none of the items that were meant for it, many empty soda and beer cans crushed on the ground. We were hoping there would be some board games or crafts at least or maybe a dvd player for the tv so we could watch a movie to get out of the rain. We were a little disappointed there wasn’t more activities for the kids to do through the weekend especially considering it was rainy gross weekend. Another bummer was there is no golf carts this season, we really looked forward to that and that was one of the reasons we came to this particular campsite. We would give this campground another try but maybe later on in the season and we just hope that those few things could be taken into consideration to make this...
Read moreStayed over Labor Day 2023. If could have given a zero I would. Unkept & overgrown. Low and dead branches everywhere. Bathrooms were filthy or not in working order. Dump stations not working or larger rigs cannot possibly get too.
Thousand Trails destination campground my butt, what a joke! Prepare for scratches and pine pitch all over your rig.Yes it is called Pine Acres but pine pitch generally comes from damaged or dead branches of which there is an abundance. This campground is so overgrown we couldn't get into our original site, we got our rig trapped by large branches because we were sent down a road we should never have been sent too.
This is a Thousand Trails destination campground we had to pay extra for, the same a going to the ones in the Keys. I cannot believe thousand trails has them on there listing. Sites are small and overgrown. They sent a 40+ fifth wheel being hauled by a semi up to an area where there was not one site they would have been able to get into. Hour later, they came back down and were able to manuever into the site near us. Still took them awhile but they got in. The owner stated that he had asked them if he would fit and gave them his rigs dimensions and they still booked him.
The one good thing I can say about this campground is the staff tried to be helpful for the most part. But know the limitations of your roadways and campsites and what will fit, this should be a priority, its as if they never had rode through the campground. Even the one that came to help us with the tree branches asked why we were on this road, we were sent by your front desk staff and even hi-lighted it on the map. 13' tall rig vs 10' high branches. KNOW YOU CAMPGROUND!
We had gone to the front office to see if there was another site we could move to and she gave us a list to drive by (without our rig) one road she send us down had a hill and corner that a 35" fifth wheel could not possibly manuever through. We had mentioned we probably could have gotten into the original site we were assigned to if some of the trees were limbed up and she said it wouldn't be a campground without trees. Limbing up trees, removing dead branches and trees isn't clearcutting a campground, it is call maintenance, which this campground is sorely in need of.
This is specifically for Thousand Trail members DO NOT GO TO THIS CAMPGROUND! Don't be fooled by the destination...
