Hotel Garber — Hotel in Red Cloud

I have rated the Hotel Garber 5 stars only because there isn't an opportunity to rate it 10 stars.|We were visiting the Willa Cather Spring Conference and couldn't have been more surprised by the level of accomodation we would be receiving. We arrived early and General Manager Brandi did her magic and got us into our room early. Then she came out from behind the desk and helped us get our luggage up to our room. I am an experienced traveler, both business and pleasure and I have never experienced such a WONDERFUL level of hotel and dining pleasure. You couldn't turn around without a new level of Customer Service! While we were there we met Brandi's mom and dad and now feel like we are part of the family.|The hotel food service is new, but already head and shoulders above most. Chef was just wonderful and so engaged with his diners. He actually asked for suggestions and then he listened. Breakfast was included with the room, but unlike any included breakfast I have experienced. The food was prepared on site and served with such extras as cloth napkins and real silverware.|We ate dinner in the dining room twice and the food was delicious and chef's staff were as nice as he was. The rest of the hotel staff was also just as wonderful!|Most of what I have been talking about are the people of the Garber, but let me assure you that the facility is also a 10 star Hotel!|I will be back, if not for Willa Cather, than for ME!|This was Small Town Nebraska at it's very best|Ron...

We were visiting for the Spring Willa Cather Conference and couldn't be more surprised by the level of accomodations that we would receive. We arrived early and Brandi did her magic to get us into a room ahead of schedule. Then she came out from behind the desk and helped us get our luggage to our room. I am an experienced traveler, both business and pleasure and I have never had such a WONDERFUL total hotel/dining experience. You couldn't turn around without a new level of customer service! My husband and I were visiting The National Willa Cather Center in Red Cloud and booked an overnight stay at the newly restored Hotel Garber in Red Cloud, NE. It did not disappoint! Our room, 212, had a nice high ceiling; three large windows overlooking North Webster Street; two in-wall air conditioning units; a nice-sized bathroom with grab-bar in the tub / shower; a wall-mounted TV; a comfortable, upholstered accent chair; a desk and chair; drawers to store your clothing and an area to hang clothes as well. The hotel overall had a lovely decor scheme and the lobby bookshelves are stocked with vintage books and notable books focusing on the area and region, they are worth a look!||If you have a chance, definitely enjoy drinks and /or dinner at Forrester's Restaurant & Lounge. Our dinner was delicious, menu is priced well, and we loved seeing people visiting from the local community and other guests who were staying at the hotel. Included in our booking price was breakfast, served from 7AM to 10AM which included vegetarian options along with typical breakfast fair (bagels, english muffins, fruit, bacon, etc.). ||Finally, alongside the incredible Cather Center and its holdings, there are three wonderful, WPA era murals painted by Archie Musick in situ at the local post office, just down the block from Hotel Garber. ||I hope to visit again soon, there's so much to Red Cloud that we...
