What a horrible experience & customer service! I spoke with Mindy (Manager) and requested a rate for the 3 bedroom lakefront home for a 2 night stay. She gave me a rate that she said she would hold for me for 24 hours. As a long time travel agent I know that many times if you do not get back within the time limit that they give, you run the risk of losing the rate. I called back about 14 hours after confirming with the others I was traveling with to book the room. I had to leave 2 messages for her, neither of which she returned the call. I finally reached her the next day and she said the rate expired and should would no longer honor it (now was double). I reminded her I left 2 message for her within the 24 hour requirement and she should still honor quoted rate since she did not respond timely. At that point she proceeded to hang up on me after I told her I was unhappy because she dropped the ball. Then I realized the catch – if they don’t return your calls than they do not have to honor rate, saying “it’s too late”. I requested to get contact information for the property owner to discuss, but received no response. As a travel agent, if I proved this level of service I would not have any clients. I am also concerned that this situation will happen to my clients and others. As a travel agent, I visit properties and test the service so I know what experience my clients will have. Based on the horrible experience with Mindy, not only was my trip ruined, but the other property I considered as an alternative got booked in the meantime. This is unacceptable for a business to operate in this manner, putting people’s vacation/travel plans in jeopardy. Mindy did not even try to work with me to find a solution. I understand mistakes happen, but the lack of customer service to try and resolve was unacceptable.. Read moreStayed in Room 1 on 2/18/24. I would have l left a very positive review, but unfortunately cannot do so. 48 hours after checking out, I found that my torso was COVERED in BEDBUG BITES. I immediately notified Bay Inn by email, but received no response. Calling one week later, I was told by an answering service representative (likely based in Asia) that I would have to provide documentation - either pictures of the bedbugs (obviously not possible as I had stayed 1 week prior) or of my body (would involve nude photos). There is no actual person to talk to about this at the property, so no idea if action will have been taken or not. BEWARE!
What follows is the concerning reply posted in response to my honest review (5 weeks after I reviewed). I have literally no clue what any of this is, so i am completely at a loss with no recourse whatsoever and no offer to remedy the situation I reported for future guests or for myself. What the heck?
Response from the owner 4 days ago This is a false and a very malicious review First off, The only message we got from you is "Hi, I'm an experimental travel assistant. I can find ideas for trips you can book in the Expedia app. To get started, try something like "3-day itinerary for Paris with hotel suggestions."
After we declined your offer you never sent us any message after this. You never sent us any email , not even a message from Expedia regarding any complaint or anything about your stay. The phone number you have in your file is not even a real phone number. Second is you didn't stay in our hotel since the next day your room was untouched.
We have never received, nor do we anticipate receiving, any complaints about bed bugs from future guests who stayed in your room. Upholding cleanliness is paramount to us, and we take great pride in maintaining the highest standards throughout our hotel.

We exhausted ALL possible efforts to avoid this negative review & the Bay Inn simply refused to demonstrate any level of professionalism or make-right for a disastrous experience – Bay Inn does not run a professional operation.
Room was grossly misrepresented on the website (We ended up in 1 of 2 rooms behind the property lacking the space/amenities you see advertised online (i.e. water view - we were buried next to a maintenance garage, and no A/C – hotel actually told us to knock on shared wall to ask neighbors to turn their A/C down at 10 p.m.) Cleanliness – numerous documented cleaning issues never addressed. Despite choosing “pay at hotel option,” our $ was collected immediately & we were never able to recover a penny….and the list goes on.
Bay Inn management hid behind their call center, ignored emails for 2+ months and provided zero make-right effort (this after we provided a thorough summary of our concerns with corresponding pictures & online chat transcript, per THEIR request). They claimed we got everything we paid for.
