The hotel itself is your typical Red Roof, though I had an issue with my cable not working the first (of 2 nights) in my one room--so no television that night. Apparently, it worked in other rooms so it was just that room. ||||I had moved to a different room the next day...so all was fine there. ||||Check in was quite slow. There was always a lineup of folks in the vending area (as we were not allowed to come in the lobby. This made that area packed and hot and not the best experience. I've had faster check-ins at other Red Roofs 99% of the time. ||||I know clerk REMMY had a lot on her hands with checkins, but if they only opened the lobby, she wouldn't have to keep going back and forth from the NIGHT checkin window to the front and then back again. It slows things down. REMMY was friendlier on day 2 for me. So that's why I'm giving her the "props" she deserves. I was able to get a small discount for the cable not working the day before. ||||My first room was #121....that was the one who's cable wasn't working back in July. Hopefully it's fixed now. So if you're assigned 121...check immediately to make sure your TV works. Second room was #131 and that was better for me.||||Even though others say that they didn't like the kinds of people who stayed here (in other reviews), you have to realize this is a budget hotel and there's going to be riff raff at all types of budget motels. If they don't like that type of atmosphere, they need to switch locations and find a more costly option in order for them to feel safer. Sure some of the guests looked questionable, but unless you actually see things happening in the parking lot or in the rooms---we shouldn't judge books by their covers. :-)||||Anyway, as I said, REMMY may have had a lot of problems she was dealing with the first day I checked in---and thus wasn't overly friendly OR smiley upon checkin, but the 2nd day, she was better and thus, I'm throwing out a GREAT JOB to her for my 2nd day there! ||||I would recommend to the owner to open up the lobby (at least during the day and up to maybe 10pm at night.) Standing in a cramped vending area/night checkin...
Read moreWe were driving from SC to PA after a week's vacation, and my husband wanted to split the trip into two days. We agreed on Richmond and he booked this hotel because of it's location and price. ||||This is the first time I have ever left a hotel, after having already paid for it. It was that skanky. To start, when we pulled in there was a lot of "activity" in the parking lot. Lots of cars coming and going. Which seemed strange but...We had to park a few slots away from our room because there was a group of folks hanging out in the parking spot in front of our room. Tailgating would be the best way to describe it. A little strange but whatever. In general there were a lot of people (mostly men) just kind of hanging around. I don't know, maybe they live there. Which I guess is legal, but it didn't feel right.||||We entered the room. I'm not sure where to begin. There was a stale smoky smell which I might even excuse. Just because a hotel says it's smoke free does not guarantee that the guests will comply. But it was gross. Then there were the flies. I counted 2 but my kids say there were more behind the blackout curtains. The foamy substance behind both beds really disgusted me. To be clear I do believe it was some sort of cleaning product. But it still seemed gross that it hadn't been wiped up. There was a dog barking in the room next to us. Upon further research I believe this is a "pet friendly" hotel so I don't know if we can complain about that. The room felt a bit warm so we decided to turn on the AC. I have never smelled a staler AC than in this room. We turned it back off.||||We decided to take a wait and see approach, and loaded our bags into our car, in case we didn't want to return after dinner. As we were loading the car, we saw a woman in the room a couple down from us, welcoming a gentleman caller. At that point we said that's it, and my husband dropped the room keys off at the desk. ||||So to sum up: stale smelling rooms with lots of people hanging around and it may or may not have...
Read moreI would give ZERO stars if I could. This has been the absolute worst experience I have had with any sort of travel stay. Now I know this is an Inn and I absolutely do not expect 5 star service by any means but holy hell me and my friend's stay here was a nightmare. To begin I will say I booked through a third party app and booked a wheelchair accessible room. The room reeked of cigarette smoke, has an issue with flies and other bugs all over the room, peeling ceiling and bathtub, broken toilet seat, cigarette and ash burns in the blanket and sheets, the wifi/internet connection is horrible on top of the fact that the service area is horrible making my phone near unusable during my time there, and there was frequent times where dogs were barking their heads off even at night. Staff were extremely unfriendly and even rude at times. On my third day here, room keeping entered my room while I was out and removed the trash and towels and DID NOT REPLACE the towels even though i still had one more night. They had only left one small hand towel I had left on a shelf. Me and my friend immediately went to the front desk about this because we needed to be able to shower and the woman working the front counter blatantly refused to help, saying that "house keeping had gone home for the day." The next morning, house keeping had the gaul to immediately knock on our door at 8:30AM and ask if we had already checked out and did not offer to replace the towels even after I said we did not have any (check out is at 11AM).This experience has been HORRIBLE and absolutely is not worth the money paid for it. I tried to save some money by booking with them but wasn't prepared for the hell hole they ended up being and was absolutely NOT worth the money I ended up...
