I got married here in April 2023, I have held off on writing a review to see if things are better looking back but I'm still just so disappointed by my experience. We had worked with Linda the entire time leading up to the wedding. She is who we worked with to plan and coordinate everything and she assured us she would be there the day of the wedding. Even the day before she assured us again. There was a wedding the night before and I think she was tired? And just didn't show up for our wedding. Even though it was included in our contract that she would be there. The day of the wedding SO many things went wrong here are just a few, but there were many others - our ceremony was inside and the ballroom was supposed to be pipe and draped for the ceremony to hide the tables and it wasn't, our cocktail hour stations were wrong - there was supposed to be a large tuscan presentation station on one of the main tables in the cocktail area and that table was just empty, there was supposed to be a tasting waiting for us (bride and groom) at the very beginning of cocktail hour and there wasn't, they broke one of our tall centerpieces for the reception so one of the tables didn't have a centerpiece, they only set places for adults at the reception so any table that had children at it just didn't have seats for them and they were scrambling to rearrange all the tables after the reception had started and people didn't have anywhere to sit. They ignored the order of the reception that they had walked through with us and the DJ that day and did everything completely out of order which looked really unprofessional. The decorations were really sloppy. All of the workers at the reception were teenagers and most didn't know what they were doing. For the price, you just expect a MUCH higher level of service and professionalism. Afterwards, we talked to them about our disappointment and nothing was done to try to rectify anything.
It's really hard when you plan for so long for your wedding, pay so much money, and know how amazing it could have been and the venue is what ends up ruining the day. We knew going in that reviews were mixed, but the location has sentimental meaning to my husband's family so we went ahead with it. All of our other vendors were incredible. If you do end up getting married here, I HIGHLY recommend hiring at least a day of coordinator, though most of these things wouldn't have been fixed...
Read moreI cannot say enough incredible things about Skylands Manor, we truly had the wedding of our dreams there on June 6, 2025. To start, the staff. Every single person that we came across over the course of our planning and day of experience was PHENOMENAL. Nancy, who first held our tour, was so helpful and so welcoming that we instantly felt we would be well taken care of. Linda was our Maitre'd and we could not have asked for a better person to take care of all our needs. She responded to all of our requests so quickly, was immensely helpful and accommodating, and truly made the entire process of planning this wedding a breeze. Also have to shout out Laura, who was the server for me and my husband, because she was an absolute gem the entirety of our night.
Secondly, I would be remiss if I didn't shout out the food - which was INSANE. We knew following our tasting that the food would be good but wow were we blown away. Never have I ever had a wedding steak I liked, but Frungillo's catering blew it out of the park. Our cocktail hour was a dream, the salad starter at reception was so light and refreshing, and all of our guests are still raving about just how fantastic the food was. We were told by multiple guests that the salmon melted in their mouths like butter and the cocktail hour mashed potato bar was a major hit. We also opted for the late night hot dog cart and those dogs were NYC quality (as Brooklynites, that was a huge deal for us).
The cocktails were also incredible - my husband is a very talented mixologist as a hobby and all of our friends and family expect any of our events to have good cocktails, and wow did Skylands deliver. We opted for a Hugo Spritz as our signature cocktail and we were hounded by praise from our guests about how good it was.
It goes without saying that the venue is gorgeous, but it's the hospitality and incredible attention to detail of the staff at Skylands that truly make the venue unlike any other in New Jersey. Our guests are all still raving about how phenomenal our wedding was and it's truly all thanks to the hard work and dedication of the team...
Read moreMy wife & I stayed at Skyland's Manor this past weekend with 12 other friends. We had a great time great time form the moment we check in, until we left the next day. We were greeted by Liz the in keeper who took great care of us. She made us feel very welcome and at home. She was very accommodating throughout our stay. My Wife and I had food catered and delivered to the Manor, where we ate in the formal dining room like Royalty. After dinner we moved to the living room where we danced and listened to music. After dancing we retired to the library to wind down the evening before going to bed. If you like old and historic Manson homes, this is a great place go back in time and feel like you are one of America elite during the Gilded Age. There are so many different bedrooms to choose form, all offering different décor and views. In the morning Liz provided a great breakfast for all of us before we departure. All of our friend wanted to know when we are planning on another exciting weekend at Skyland's as we made some great memories here. We highly...
