I felt that we were staying in a tree house in the woods! The cabin vibe, comfy bed, and rocking chairs on the porch were perfect for us. This lodge is located just 3 miles from Nantahala Outdoor Center and River's End Restaurant! We spent an amazing time there watching kayakers from the river's edge, enjoying cocktails lounging in our Adirondack chairs and enjoying the rapids.|This lodge is close to the Hellbender 28 drive and loop that meets with 129 at The Dragons Tail 11 mile drive for motorcycle and sports car enthusiasts. My hubby loved driving it. |Upon arriving back at the lodge, you do need to climb up a short but steep hill to get back to the lodge, but that's what one does to stay in the trees! |They have a very interesting convenience/vending area for necessities. You can purchase soft drinks and iced coffee, simple foods like hotdogs and buns, as well as basic sundries. They even sell coffee mugs out of the vending machines. This is so helpful!|We stayed in early October, and the weather was great. The heat worked well, and the water pressure was good. There were outdoor fire pits and tower heaters for the guests to use. We didn't as we were exhausted both nights from all of our adventures in and near the Smokies. This area of the country is so beautiful. Drive the winding mountain roads and chase some waterfalls along the way or go rafting or hiking. The adventures are endless. |I loved staying here and would come back in a second. Management texted us before our stay and responded quickly to any concerns that we had. |Thanks for the hospitality. We greatly...
Read moreThe inside of the rooms looked like they were individual cabins. As soon as you stepped out onto the covered porch, you had rocking Adirondack chairs to sit in. It rained a couple of days while I was there and everyone at The Lodge was protected by the covered porch. It was a very refreshing experience to sit outside during a rain storm. I didn't get the chance to use the fire pits, but they had more than one, with multiple chairs surrounding each one. The service was perfect. The managers of the property came to clean rooms every morning and always asked if there was anything you needed when they saw you. All of the staff were very friendly and made my stay enjoyable. The location of The Lodge was on the side of one of the mountains and due to the trees being in full bloom, you felt like you were the only people in the area. The Lodge was close to multiple activity areas set up for white water rafting, white water kayaking, etc. A grocery store was only 15 minutes away in Bryson City. I visited the area to ride local highways on my motorcycle and The Lodge is located right in the middle of numerous, famous roadways, i.e. - Tail Of The Dragon. If you stay here, your blood pressure is guaranteed to drop. It is very relaxing...
Read moreWe went there this past weekend for my husband to get recertification on his wilderness EMT I went alone just for a relaxing weekend. I made a suggestion to the owners when we got there concerning a handicap bar to help disabled people be able to get out of the shower better I also suggested a handicap toilet they had already taken the issue with a toilet in hand and we're waiting on it to come in. They went that day and ordered the handicap bars. And I feel that they will be installed as soon as they arrive. If you have mobility issues you will need to take that into consideration when you go to this area of North Carolina the owners have done everything they can to make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible. I appreciate that you can tell it had been remodeled and the kitchenette was very up-to-date and modern the only other suggestion that I would have is that the height of the bed be lowered a little. It might be easier just to set aside a handicap room instead of doing every bed that way. I know that people that come up there or kayakers and hikers and they are more physically...
