My son and I stopped by for just one night while taking a motorcycle journey thru the TX Hill Country. I had researched this place last year but we got delayed in our trip by COVID. Well, a year later we got there and the place was quirky, unusual and just plain amazing. It’s run by a lovely lady named Deborah who is a bit of a collector. She has an amazing collection of doll houses that she keeps in a store front across the way. It’s just amazing. Similarly, her hotel is decorated with her various collections of bells, antiques, books, taxidermy, China, and so many fascinating things it’s hard to describe. That said, Deborah welcomes you into her “home” with such grace and good humor you just can’t help but smile. She has a passion for the hotel and it’s history which she will share with you for as long as you are interested. She speaks with passion and zeal for the old things, places and ways that is simply compelling. The room, well it was nice. Nothing fancy but clean, well maintained, cool and adorable in an antique sort of way. Anyway, that evening spent was really a treat, the price more than reasonable and Deborah’s company was delightful. I look forward to...
Read moreThree friends and I spent 2 nights at the Historic Rocksprings Hotel in November of 2019. We travelled from Dallas on motorbikes and Rocksprings is very convenient to some of the best roads in the Hill Country. Deborah, the owner and our hostess, was extraordinary! We jokes that she needed to stop being so kind or she might permanently alter our expectations! Deborah even loaned us her car so we could make a beer run! The hotel is historic. Wifi worked well, we had the run of the kitchen and the common rooms on the first floor. My room, one of the better rooms, was actually a suite, with a bedroom and a sitting room. Both furnished in period antiques and very comfortable.||This may not be for everyone. If you expect the latest amenities and mod cons you may not be happy here. But for 98% of travelers the history and the exceptional service make up for any deficiency!||Oh, I forgot the mention the great wrap-around porch around the front of the hotel. A perfect place to enjoy an adult beverage and review the day before heading out to dinner, which is just a...
Read moreThe Historic Rocksprings Hotel is an unique and interesting place to stay. It's also the best place to stay if you are in Rocksprings. It's old and more like a B&B without food so you have to set you expectations ahead of time. If you are expecting the Ritz, a Hilton or HI Express, you will be very disappointed.||||The hotel is very unique in it's own right. The rooms are comfortable however everything is older....ie small bathrooms, window unit A/C and mediocre towels. The place is clean just old. ||||Some might say the place is in need of repairs but it's the charm of the hotel. The host/owner is very accommodating. My friends and I have stayed at the hotel for the past 4 years on our way to Big Bend after riding the Three Sisters.||||There is a hug kitchen that you can use however there is no food served at the hotel. There are a few eating options for dinner within walking distance. Breaksfast tacos at the Shell station are a great way to start your day.||||The only downside is that you can not make a reservation online. You must...
