chateau lodge — Hotel in Rockvale Township

I stayed in room #5 for 1 night with one other guest - 2 dbl bed room with an Americana theme. I thought the decor was kitschy but cute - reminded me of my family road trips in the 70s & 80s. No carpet in the room - instead, laminated floors - which I like because of cleanliness, in pet-friendly hotels. We didn’t hear movement from any other guests (due to painted cement block walls?) and although the motel is not far from the road, you don’t hear the cars much. The room is clean and there’s a small flat screen t.v. The gent who checked my friend in was very pleasant and gave us treats and a water bowl for his dog which was a nice touch. Mini fridge is loud. There’s a small coffee maker in the room which I always use if available. My only complaint is the beds - they are lacking all cushion - could feel hard wire on our backs - got little sleep - need to replace stat! Bring a foam memory pad if you...

I booked a room over the phone and added an additional room through Expedia a few days later when my employee said he could make it to the jobsite we have in this area. When they arrived to check in after working the owners told us there was no room available for the booking through Expedia. They're now insisting on charging us for the rooms because we had to cancel and go to another location that could accommodate everyone. They were very difficult to deal with over the phone and had a very hard time understanding me. When I called Expedia for a refund due to the double booking they lied to the agent when they were contacted and said they were still waiting for my employee to check in! (the one who had been there to check in and was turned away) Absolutely so frustrating and I've now had to spend hours on the phone...

This was such a cozy little place! I'm not a fan of big- brand name hotels. We loved this place. The room was decorated in a farm motif and looked a little bit like we'd just stepped out of a time machine. But that only adds to the charm. Room was super clean. Check in/out was easy and they were good at communicating with me. One honest note: the mattresses are really firm which made it a challenge for me to get to sleep.
