Let me first start out by saying that I've been traveling to this general area in PA (approx 6 hours from home) since October 2013. I started out in Mifflinville, then ventured out to Danville. Last year we decided traffic and room quality had become an issue, so we headed in this direction as we were caravanning with some friends that have never been to PA. Our check-in was AMAZING. Most of our party have worked in independently owned restaurants and we were looking for some dinner. She gave us recommendations on local places, complete with nuances of each location Never mind that there's a McDonalds and a Cracker Barrel next door. (Blech!) We were offered hot soup and cookies later in the evening which was a warm welcome after driving in torrential rainstorms and crazy I-81 traffic on our voyage. We were advised that hot coffee and tea were avail 24/7. Oh good! I'm an insomniac.. Room was perfect- exactly what I asked for (high room, away from the elevator) and VERY convenient because we were right next to the stairs. Perfect for the smokers in my party as i even made a comment about having our own 'private entrance' via said stairs to the side lot. Approached the same young lady at the front desk (I never got her name!!!!!) to advise her of a problem in an unoccupied room down the hallway with a rogue alarm sounding for like 3 hours and she IMMEDIATELY responded and fixed the issue. FIELD TRIP! Breakfast was continually stocked, pretty good selection available. I'm a tea drinker so the lemon packets and the honey were super appreciated. It was one of the most well appointed breakfast spreads in the IHX chain I've seen yet. (Side note: they did run out of hot water on Sat night. I dislike using the Keurigs for tea, there's always residual coffee on those dispenser pins, so that was a teeny bummer.) Speaking of Saturday... The ONLY issue I came across was an encounter with the hotel manager on duty. One of my guest mates found a critter (non-living "palmetto bug") in the hallway. The manager immediately copped an attitude (it was reported in that instance as being in our room, which was clarified later) and responded "We've been here since 199whatever and have never had a bug issue." Now, I am sure they haven't, but this little insect was indeed in the hotel, and was most likely hitch-hiking in on someones shoe or luggage... but.... that sort of attitude... does NOT belong in the hospitality industry. A simple "Oh, my dear, we've never seen those little guys around- please let me look into this." probably would have been a better response. Would I stay here again? Likely. It's quiet and people are there for a reason so no riff-raff! There's a kitschy bowling alley up in W. Hazleton that was quicker to get to than any of us thought. A climb over a mountain or two (Rte 61) gets you to Centralia (don't forget the spray paint!). The trek out to Knoebel's was no longer than a jaunt to our home park- which is about 45 minutes. Still, a very off the beaten path (almost) location. Don't get confused by the squiggle...
Read moreI recently stayed at this hotel for work. The staff seemed so nice and the room was very clean! However, during my stay things changed. They seemed annoyed that my boyfriend brought his ADA certified service dog and even asked to see her certification because they flat out questioned if we were lying or not. Not only is that type of discrimination against the law, but asking for verification for a service animal is illegal. They complained that my family was with me even though they never left the room other than to take a walk with my boyfriend and his service dog. Mind you, the service dog was kept on a leash and with him at all times! After I checked out, I received a copy of my bill with the charges for my stay there. Everything looked normal. I was set to return to the hotel for work again a few days later, when I called to confirm my reservation, they told me that my next 3 reservations had been canceled and to contact my employer. I was confused so of course I did exactly that. I was then informed by my employer that they stated that the room had damages due to the service animal and that my boyfriend had an argument with someone at the front desk. That situation also never happened! They key stopped working and he politely went to the desk and asked if they could reprogram the key. They said they couldn't without my consent because he wasn't listed on the original reservation and that it's a security issue. He told them that was fine and he understood. When I got back from work I had gone down to talk to them and they told me the same thing, they couldn't reprogram the key because he isn't listed on the reservation. I was then informed that I could add him to it in case it happened again. So I did just that and thanked them for taking the extra security measures to keep me safe during my stay. I'm not sure why they felt the need to lie to my employer and discriminate against my boyfriend for having a disability and a service dog, but they did. I find very strange how nothing was said to me at all upon checking out and the bill for the room doesn't show any charges for damages nor did I receive a separate bill or notice to inform me that there had been an issue. Now thanks to that hotel, I am in trouble with my employer and could potentially be terminated due to their lies and discrimination towards my boyfriend. I will NEVER stay there again, nor will I use any of their other hotels for travel. I have since reached out to an attorney to file a lawsuit for defamation of character and discrimination against a person with a disability as well as discrimination against a service animal and violation of rights due to them illegally asking for proof that she is in fact a...
Read moreMy wife, 2 young children, and I stayed at this hotel for the first time on October 7th thru the 9th of 2023. We typically stay in the Frackville area when we go to Knobels to shorten our daily drive times. This hotel is conveniently located behind a Cracker Barrel Restaurant which we tend to frequent when in this area. Overall, this hotel is nice if you simply need a comfortable place to sleep and I would go there again.||Pros:|-Staff was friendly|-Clean rooms and hotel|-The area it is in is scenic and peaceful|-Well-lit parking lot and plenty of spaces|-Wifi worked well|-Large place for luggage|-Good size room, was able to put a full-size pack and play between the beds, but had a few other options too|-Was able to slightly accommodate a late checkout time with rewards status|-I could be wrong, but it appeared like they had a washer/dryer in the hallway for guest use, which would be a great option if for some reason we needed it|-Dove soaps!||Cons:|-The bathroom in the double queen room was a little smaller than I would have liked. The swing of the door basically touches the toilet so you have to kind of squeeze into the bathroom. Not really an issue unless you have kids constantly opening the door and running in and out (like we do), but still not the end of the world.|-We stayed in room 215 and there was a constant sound that I believe is related to everyone else's use of the water. It stopped (mostly) after 1am, but if you are a light sleeper, this would be very annoying. Again, not the end of the world, but a warning (or possible discount) for this room would have been nice.||Neutral:|-Tiny trash cans, so bring some extra trash bags if you have more than a little trash (kind of typical of some hotels though)|-Management posted signs everywhere about the new toilets, blinds, no smoking/pets, deliveries, and other things that seemed a bit excessive but honestly, I understood why the signs were there so it didn't bother me in particular|-There was no view in the room we stayed in, there was a window with a part of the building blocking everything 100%, but I was not there to look out the window (lol)|-No pool (bummer for the kids, but whatever it was very cold outside anyway)|-Doors to room were not loud to close like many other hotels, however did not seem to shut as tightly. This is nice if you don't want to wake the kids and need to exit the room. However, the toilet flusher is loud.|-Hated the pillows, but I am a bit particular about pillows. I like a...
