First let me begin by telling that I spent several years as the housekeeping supervisor for both Motel 6 and Hilton so I look at rooms with a critical eye. We are moving from North Carolina to Massachusetts and stopped here after having been on the road for 12 hours in pouring rain and awful traffic. We were exhausted and this was the closest place that was not sold out. It's Motel 6 so it is your basic room with no frills and that's fine. I was impressed. My daughter checked us in and the person at the desk put us in a handicapped room because I cannot climb stairs without extreme pain. The room had been recently painted, the floors are laminate and I LOVE that because carpet is just nasty and hard to keep stain free, which is one of the things people will complain about. The beds were really comfortable, the pillows were not flat and hard, they were big and soft and so nice to sleep on. I didn't wake up with a stiff neck. Whoever cleaned our room deserves a hats off. Housekeeping is a hard job, especially knowing that you have time limits on how long it should take to clean a room. When I worked there it was 18 minutes for a single room and 22 minutes for a double. That's a lot of work in a short amount of time, especially if the room is really dirty. It was very quiet, the outside security lights lit the entire area like the middle of day, yet when the curtains were pulled it was dark inside. I saw others saying creepy people hung out around there but for the three days we were here we saw nothing like that and there was never an unsafe feeling, in fact I went outside a few times well after dark. It is in an older area, near residences, but that never created an issue. The whole area seems to be older as a lot of small towns are. The staff was friendly. We wound up having to stay two extra days because I couldn't get into my apartment in Mass until Monday. We debated just going on but since we already knew this place was good we opted to stay here. The cable t.v. was impressive. Most hotels only offer a few channels but here there were so many. For those with little ones there were two Disney channels and Cartoon Network. There is also MTV and VH1 if you like that. TLC and History channel, Lifetine abd Hallmark to mention a few. I was never bored for lack of t.v. channels. It even has HBO. So that is definite plus. It also has a little fridge and a microwave so you don't have to rely on eating out all the time. Also as a stayover housekeeping did not come around at the crack of dawn banging on the door and waking us up, they wait til a bit later which was so much appreciated. Also know that, in my experience, if you need housekeeping to clean your room at a certain time all you need to do is let the front desk know when you need it and what you need. It was our policy to clean vacant rooms first so other guests could check in and people would get upset if they went for breakfast early, came back and the room wasn't done. We'd have to explain that all they needed to do was let the front desk know so we could accommodate them. I also saw other ratings complaining about a stain on the sheet. While they are unsightly it isn't a health hazard, the stuff used to wash linens in will rip the hide off your hands. It's very difficult to eliminate every linen with a stain, you'll wind up with no linens or going well over budget having to buy new sheets all the time. They do what they can but sometimes it's just really difficult and not every stain can be removed no matter what you do and constantly buying new linens will bankrupt a motel or cause your prices to be ridiculously high. Personally I worry about things like hair in the bed, the tub, the floor, mold, soap scum, or bugs NONE of which we ever saw. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I would definitely...
Read moreI should have known, a half roll of toilet paper on the door ledge! I decided to laugh it off and go inside. Holy step back into the 70's and cough, cough, the smell, Febreze in the SUV! It's only 1 Night.||So, I'll start slow.A full size fridge against the wall, not working. Next to it was a mini fridge and microwave. Did not touch them. It's only 1 night and I didn't sleep and I'm up at 5 am and going home! It was 1 night and my humor is gone! ||Tried to check out, what the heck, no one there. the lady at check in didn't speak fluent English and it took me opening the office door 3 times to raise someone to take my key! Hello, ding dong with the door bell.||So moral of the story, If you think IT'S ONLY FOR 1 NIGHT, ECONO LODGE!||I should have asked for my money back but I was beat, so I...
Read moreI read the reviews on here before booking, and all I needed was a safe and a clean place to stay for the night so my expextations were reasonable and low. This place unfortunately set the bar even lower. The check-in service was leaving for the night at 1030pm and left a written sign on the door saying "NO ROOMS LEFT". I was lucky enough to chase her down and ask about already reserved guests and what to do. She quickly gave me a room key then shut the lights off. The door frame to the room was torn and I was frankly surprised the key worked thank goodness. The room was bare, unwelcoming, bright fluorescent lights in the lamps, and a single dirty AC unit blowing. The boxspring had obvious brown stains, the piece of fabric for a comforter had cigarette burns, the only 3 pillows were flatter than crepes, and the bathroom had shattered tiles along with what appeared to be black mold. This was room 113 for anybody curious. Outside the door was some sketchy figures just walking around the parking lot, and I'm positive our room was in a section where people stayed long term. I looked and could not find bed bugs shockingly. This was $78/night on Expedia and I only booked it because the reviews seemed average. If you would like to avoid this, spend an extra $30 elsewhere and you'll be...
