PROS: Hill Top was spacious & accommodates big rigs easily (we stayed at HT8). Beautiful view of the stars at night. The wrist band system seemed a bit too much but after hearing their communication system, it was a good way of controlling the flow of ppl that are required to bounce & keep track of who stays. The golf carts were cleaned & ready for the nxt renter. There was staff onsite that makes sure everyone is not out of compliance after curfew. They have a store in the office for essential needs. This helped when we needed ice and ice cream for the kids. Nice horse shoe set up,Tether ball, volleyball sand court, etc. Colorful cabins that looked real nice & clean from the outside. The river was super low but we found a little spot where the kids could still enjoy themselves. CONS: When we arrived the entrance is angled in an awkward way coming from US83 to CR350. We have a 43’ 5th wheel so we had to back up after passing the entrance to go in. This is a problem when u have 2-3 other RVs in front & behind you trying to do the same thing. You can come from the opposite direction but you would need to cross over the Frio River that flows over the road. If u have a big rig or any RV you may want to ask yourself if u want to chance it. (We would not)we just happen to notice this path when we had to go to Leakey for a beer run. No trees at our site but u can see they recently planted a baby tree that was no higher than my hip and had potential to provide shade in the far future. The 1st night of our stay, someone had a generator when it was not allowed. It was no big deal for those that had RVs but those camping in tents now that would suck for them. Apparently, someone had notified the office and the matter was dealt with. The park was overcrowded & u can tell there was well over 10ppl for one site. Or maybe they had multiple sites to show less but u can clearly see once the families were together it looked like a block party! When we found a small space to swim, there was trash floating right by us! Not to mention my hubby and brother in law went fishing at the top of the property and he caught a huge caca pamper !!!💩🤮 Thats just disgusting & unsanitary! Who does that! Shame on the mothers that think that’s ok! There was literally a trash barrel just a few ft away. Its bad enough having to try to social distance and now worry about waste in the rivers! My sister in law saw/spoke to one of the staff members that was picking up trash to let him know what happened. He says towards the end of the day a group of staff would walk the river to pick up all trash they can find but due to the high volume of ppl, they couldn’t get everything. That goes to show that the park should consider limiting their occupancy. We rented a golf cart bc the website said no ATV/UTVs allowed only golf carts. There were numerous UTVs 😠 We figured out that using our truck was more effective than the golf cart. We hardly used the golf cart but to make use of it we went on the paths for golf carts they recommended. Such a waste of money ($60 per day) we rented it for 2days which gave us a very small discount. My BIL/SIL booked a site in Riverview which was only electric/water (they did not realize it at the time of booking) the office rents portable tanks that charge $20...PER HR! Not for the day! I get it, they can charge what they want. We were not going to let them pay that much so my hubby and BIL drove all they way back San Antonio to lend them our portable tank. (RVers know how quick ur grey tanks fill) On our last night (sun) we noticed a lot of the campers were leaving the park so my BIL was able to talk to the office and they accommodated changing their site to hilltop (right next to us) so they could dump properly.
It seems there is more cons than pros. Unfortunately, we more than likely won’t be returning. Maybe when the river is higher and occupancy level is reasonable. Everything else can be overlooked but we have to take care of our health and the main reason for camping is to get away from crowds and enjoy...

I didn't stay here, but I had a run in with management, and like the other reviews, they are extremely rude.
My daughter and her two friends were tubing and decided to get out at this location. In fairness, they were wrong for doing so, as there is a sign that says private property. They asked me to pick them up. I drove to the security point and the man with the tobacco stained beard told me that I could not drive down there, as it's private property. Fair enough. I drive back to the road and call them to tell them to walk to me, as I can't drive down there. They were picked up by a nice young gentleman in a golf cart who saw them struggling. The older guy in another golf cart was extremely rude to them, and then to me. I apologized that they got out at this location but he kept going on and on about how they're trespassing and what we're doing is illegal. I get the kids in the truck and go to drive away and some young kid starts taking pictures of us and the truck. I get out to ask if there's a problem and that's when the manager... the "Karen of Concan" started up. (I don't know her name, but can only assume it's Karen based off her behavior). She informed me she was going to call the police because 3 kids walked across their property. Based off other reviews, it turns out they call the police on people, including guests, a lot.
"Karen" was quite belligerent with me and telling me I'm a bad parent for letting a 16,17, and 18 year old tube and get out at this location. I apologized and told her it wouldn't happen again. Her response: "No.. it won't happen once!" I asked her what she wanted me to do and she said she wanted me to put the kids back in the river and make them tube another 6-8 hours to the next public pick up point. I told her that's not going to happen, so come up with something else (she had me blocked in with her golf cart, so I couldn't leave). After a lot of back and forth and continuous rudeness from "Karen", she finally told me there's a fine for them coming on the property, which I said I'd be glad to pay. After all, I recognize rules are rules and the kids should have seen the sign and not gotten out at this spot. The fine was cash only (of course) so I said I had to get cash. She told me I had to leave the kids with her. I informed her that wasn't going to happen based off of her behavior and the other staff being rude. Long story short... I took the kids back to where we stayed, got the cash, and paid the nice lady working in the store. She was apologetic and said she'd discuss "Karen's" behavior with her.
All of this could have been avoided if they just said "Your kids got out here, there's a fine, don't let it happen again!" But, instead, they attacked me as a parent and were completely rude to me and the 3 kids! It's like they wanted a fight. It was our first time to the Frio and they didn't know any better. But like I said, the sign is there, they shouldn't have gotten out, so I was ok paying the fine.
Based off of the Owner's responses across various sites, it appears that they believe if you break a rule, even innocently, that gives them the right to be rude and disrespectful. This place definitely needs new management, or at the very least, have their staff take management/conflict resolution classes.
I'd never stay here and based off of the other reviews, "Karen" and her staff ruin a lot of peoples' visits. If you want a GREAT place to stay with owners who actually care about their guests and go above and beyond to make sure they have a great visit, stay at the River Rock Cabins... less than a half mile...
Read moreWhat a disappointment. My family went to Camp Riverview with a large group and we were having a wonderful family weekend, until the owner Melissa Cummings ruined it for everyone. Our group was in a section of sites that were paid for through Monday. On Sunday at 12:40 as we were on our way to the river (yes, you have to drive to get to the river…the spots are quite far), the owners stopped our vehicle. She said that our tag indicated that we had to be out Sunday by noon. I informed her that we had our campsite until Monday. She called to the office and they confirmed that we have our site until Monday. She asked me to go to the office to get a new tag. I told her that I would go. I had my teenage son and my two small dogs with me, so we continued the 50 yards left to the river so that I could leave them off and get my husband. He had checked us into the site, so I knew it would be best for him to go take care of the mix-up. As I was getting out of my truck, the owner came speeding up behind me, slammed on the brakes, jumped out of the car, slammed the door and immediately started screaming at me, “I told you to go to the office right now!” I told her that we are going to the office – I wanted to get my husband to take care of it. She continued to scream uncontrollably telling me that if I had told her that I needed to have a conversation with my husband first that I had to let her know that. She said that I was breaking the rules. By this time my husband and friend heard the encounter and came to see what was wrong. My husband engaged in conversation with her husband, since he seemed calm. She continued to yell, saying that we are breaking the rules and refusing to go to the office. He calmly held his hand up and said, “I would like to speak to him”. She screamed at him that he had put his finger in her face and she was going to call the police! Her husband recognized that she was being unreasonable and asked her to go to the truck. She complied, but returned after only a few seconds. She pushed her husband back telling him that he had to back her up on this. She continued with her barrage of words, waving her finger at me and asked me “when you ask your kids to do something right now, do you expect them to do something else first?” Was she really serious? She just admitted that she was talking to us like children. The staff here was nice, they were even apologetic over the owners’ actions, apparently this is nothing new to them. I have owned several businesses and I would never think to treat a customer in this way. This owner needs to learn to treat people with respect. We are all adults. I am a teacher at a Christian school – I had every intention of going right back up to the office. Her actions were completely uncalled for and it was all over a mis-communication and the staff giving us the wrong color tag when we originally checked in. On our way home I read the reviews on various sites – many other people have experienced her wrath and she has a reputation of being like a prison guard….what a shame. I will pray for her to find peace with herself - you must love yourself before you can show others love...
