Stayed 4 nights at this motel for the first time. It was close to Longwood Gardens and Lancaster County which we have been coming to for years. Many small problems including the following: No one on premises to check us in. Had to get key out of key box on door. First morning we had a tractor trailer parked next to our room and the driver started and ran it at 7:30am. Only small shower stall in bathroom (no tub never mentioned this on their website) Hot water took forever to get to sink faucet and shower. Not one hook in bathroom to hang anything up and 1 hanger in main rm. All kinds of dead bugs in exhaust fan light. Wet towels left on floor one day and beds unmade the next. Didn't even leave soap a couple of nights. Only one time someone was in the office to talk to. Electric heater in wall was noisy and vibrated, had to turn off. When we first went into room, the divider between the ceramic tile and carpet was sticking up. My wife almost went down after tripping over it. Was fixed the following day. Also very close to a main road. Lots of truck noise. I think you get the general idea. You can't run a motel like this without someone on premises (manager, owner etc.) to take care of the problems that may arise. Yes the rates are reasonable, but we have stayed in many places in Lancaster county with much better accommodations for the same. Sorry cannot...
Read morePerfect for what we needed. I am an amateur dressage rider and my hubby/groom and I just needed a bed for a good 8 or so hours' sleep and a nice shower. The Christiana gave us that... "Everything we needed and nothing that we didn't.* I'm so tired of paying $200+/night for amenities we just can't use like a breakfast bar that doesn't open till 6 am (we're long since in the barn by then) a pool (who has time for that when traveling with horses??) or a fitness room (show days are a workout all their own!) Bottom line - the Christiana is quiet, super-clean and has a Zen-like simplicity that made our trip heavenly. Sure, it's not for the vacationer who wants all the bells and whistles, but it suited our needs to a T and if I ever compete in this area again (rather likely) you can bet we'll book here again! FWIW, I can't help but love a place that has a half dozen books right in the room and a TV smaller than my laptop. Plus, the little outdoor table and chairs AND a screen door make this place feel like the guest cottage on a farm and not a motel on a busy state route. The restaurant across the road looked pretty nice for an early meal but we didn't...
Read moreWhen I saw some better reviews after my last stay I give the motel a call. They told me they got rid of the old manager and renovated the rooms. So I decided to give them another try (the motel is extremely convenient for when I visit my mother). I had a different room than my last stay (room 11), but the carpet was smelly and dirty in this room also. They would not take cash and insisted I used my credit card. Two days later I started getting fraudulent charges on my credit card. This credit card has not been used anywhere else in the past few months - so the issue has to be from the motel. The clerk typed my credit card number into a laptop, I did ask why she wasn't running it through a scanner, she said that they don't have one and has to type the information...
