Because the campground clubhouse is visible from the entrance road, most visitors mistake it for the office, but you reach the office by continuing straight after you pass the entrance gate: it’s at the end of the road on the left. If you arrive during office hours, enter the office and pick up your manila envelope containing a campground map, key fobs for opening doors to indoor amenities, and tourist literature for St. Augustine. The office is also where you go to check the calendar of events, pick up mail and packages, or arrange a tour of the city: Old Town Trolley Tours does a once-daily pickup from the campground. If you arrive after hours your envelope will be waiting outside.
The campground has two sections with two sets of sites. The first five rows of the campground are premium sites: long pull-through sites with compacted gravel pads bordered by strips of concrete, paver stone patios with picnic tables, and grass lawns with at least one palm tree per site. The standard sites are mainly back-in sites with gravel pads, grass lawns, and picnic tables. It seemed like most of the standard sites are occupied by long-term residents, and those sites have cable hookups while the premium sites are where you find the WiFi repeaters. We ended up in one of the buddy sites (99B) located on the ends of the first five roads, which have two patios and picnic tables between the sites, and are a little narrower than non-buddy sites (30 feet verses 45). But because the sites are so long - we could have fit another vehicle in addition to our 37-foot rig and 21-foot truck - we put the RV closer to the front of the site and didn’t really notice we were sharing space with our neighbor. Our site was pretty level and the hookups were in reasonable spots.
The aforementioned clubhouse contains a lounge area with tables and chairs, a TV, and a library, along with a small workout area with two exercise machines. The back of the clubhouse opens into a gated swimming pool area with pergolas and lounge chairs. There is a small parking lot in front of the clubhouse where the food trucks set up when they come visit, and bathrooms on the south side of the building. There is another building near the back corner with a laundry room (6 washers, 6 dryers) and more bathrooms, as well as a dump station. In addition to the clubhouse, the grassy stretch along the shore of the lake is home to several nice communal fire pits, a pair of bocce ball courts, and a decent sized enclosed dog park with an airlock gate and lights atop the fence. If the dog park is busy, dogs are welcome on all communal grassy areas, and there’s plenty of open space along the north edge of the park and outside the entrance.
In terms of cell service, the best speed I got on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna was 22 Mbps down and 25 up, so we had no trouble streaming video during the evening except for occasional buffering and pixelation. The best speed test I ran on my 5G AT&T smartphone showed 24 Mbps down and 23 up. I tested the campground WiFi once during our stay and saw both 23 Mbps up and down.
The one negative about the campground (besides the nightly rate) is the road noise: the northbound lanes of I-95 are less than a quarter mile from...
Read moreFirst off I want to stay thank you to the staff and owner of the park! They have gone above and beyond for us while we have been here and before we came in making sure our reservation was exactly right.
Second, yes this park is more expensive than what you will find elsewhere but you get what you pay for. I am more than willing to pay more to get the over sized lots they offer and level lots too. Not to mention the park is spotless, double spigots at each lot, 50 or 30 amp at each lot, fire extinguishers at every other lot, excellent Wi-Fi, etc…
Third, for the RV owner that wrote a bad review recently and subsequently had his/her friends write bad reviews that never even stayed here, grow up. I am not ashamed to say that I am one of the countless people that asked the park to speak to you about your children and dogs. Just so we are clear, the first morning you stayed your dogs were barking at 650am. My wife complained and I said well let’s see if it was a one time thing or if it will happen again. The next morning your children were screaming and running around at 625am and then the dogs were once again barking at 710am. All the while you were walking around with your blue headphones on completely oblivious to the noise being made and how disrespectful this might be to your neighbors. So later that day I politely asked the park to speak with you and they said they would.
Fourth, this park is absolutely children friendly. A few weeks ago there was a family that had 3 rvs and a ton of kids. Yes the kids played in the street with their bikes and played like kids should play, but they weren’t doing it at 625am. It would be safe to assume no one complained about them, why because they were respectful of their neighbors.
Just so anyone that is reading this deciding wether to stay here or not, I would absolutely stay here again and would advise to not let these meritless bad reviews that have been posted these past few days hinder...
Read moreI would say this RV resort is a solid 4.5. we stayed for a week. The checkin process was smooth, I did the online early checkin so only had to pick up the packet and go park. The facilities were nice and clean. We didn't use the clubhouse because we were going other places most of the time we were there. I chose a single pull through close to the laundry/bathhouse for ease of use. The only reason I lowered the rating is experiences we had on our check in day and our check out day with the landscapers/maintenance guys. We just got parked the first day and while setting up/getting leveled a guy with a leaf blower came through a few times and blew our stuff we had sitting out around while we were in the process of setting up, all the while smiling and laughing like an absolute crazy person. We had to ask him to stop and leave. I was going to let that go since the rest of the stay was going well. Then while packing up and getting ready to leave the lawnmower guy got right up at site while I was trying to unhook hoses and power cords and our kids were running around on our site playing. I looked at him in shock as he came back around multiple times. There is no reason to get close to people or expensive equipment with a extra large riding mower. A mower can throw a rock up to 50ft at close to 170mph. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen if something gets thrown and hits someone or breaks something on a brand new RV since most of the lots are crushed asphalt. Most other places we've stayed leave it up to the occupant to maintain right around their area and don't mow while the site is occupied. Other than that it was a nice quiet stay and very convenient for visiting family/friends in the St...
