We recently returned from an 8-day trip to St. Croix and stayed at Club St. Croix.| The accommodation was lovely and well appointed. Amenities on the property included a lovely lap pool, a spa, and gas grills for use.| We also enjoyed a full kitchen with every coking utensil one could want.| Our problem was the power outages.| Om three separate occasions, the power went out. On a rainy Sunday, power was out for most of the late afternoon and evening.| Those who own the condos there told us this was an occasional problem. Or, obviously, they would not have purchased a unit.| This affected our ability to cook and keep cool in a hot climate. We had no flashlights or anything to prepare us for this. We were not told that it was a problem. | The next day, the power went out again at 8 p.m. It was out for a few hours.| The following day, the power went out three times. Very annoying.| Our patience had reached its limits.| I did mention my concern to management, I was told this was an 'act of God' comparable to a hurricane.| Well, I certainly would not travel to the Caribbean during hurricane season. This would be our fault and would face the risk we took.| So, we received no credit nor compensation. We did pay a good amount of money to stay there.| A couple of notes:| You will need a car. We rented from Judi of Croix. They are veteran owned . Prices are very good and the people there are so nice.| You cannot walk to a grocery store. There are also local fishermen|near the McDonald's on the main road. There are some locals selling fresh fruits and vegetables along the road. No matter, prices of food and beverages are VERY expensive.| The beach at the property is only fair. You cannot snorkel there. there is only sea grass.| We took the half-day trip to Buck Island. I would recommend this. | Cane Bay was also a very nice place to snorkel.| Compared to other Caribbean Islands we have travelled to, I would rate St, Croix near the bottom. We did plenty of sight seeing and drove quite a bit. This island just did...
Read moreOur unit was very disappointing, especially after looking at some of the other units. All are owned by individual owners and have different furniture and decorations. 1 lightbulb out of 8 in the bathroom worked. We had to put a tower over the blind rod to block the view from the street while being in the bathroom. TV did not work. Had to ask for towels, toilet paper, none in the unit. No dishliquid of any sort in the kitchen. Pots/ pans 'prehistoric', no cook in this antiquated kitchen.|NO MAID SERVICE IN THE 4 NIGHTS WE SPENT THERE!|Front desk lady is very nice, but unable to help, since all units are individually owned.|The Restaurant wait staff is unfriendly. Tried having an early dinner but after trying to get one of the waitstaff (we saw 5 people working in the kitchen/bar area) off their cell phones and all discussing whatever they were all looking at...and being told 'they'll be right there', we left for a local restaurant.|Nothing different when we showed up at 8AM the following morning, the waitress was unmotivated and acted like we were bothering her by being there. We never went back to the Hotel Restaurant. It had been a major reason for our initial booking...we wanted a place with a bar, restaurant & pool. The pool itself is nice and well maintained and so is the Spa. The beach was ok, lots of seaweed, which was finally scraped up by the Hotel after having been there for 4 days.|Some of the units are very nice in this Hotel, be sure you do NOT book...
Read moreWorst mattress I have ever slept on. Ac did not work. TV buffered to the point it was unwatchable. Can not swim in the ocean outside the place without shoes due to rocks and reef. Right next to the resort is an area every cab driver will tell you not to walk through or near, so rent a car or be prepared to call a taxi to get anywhere.
This is not a hotel its privately owned condos that their office seems to rent out when the owners are away. My room 208 might just have been the worst one there who knows but it wasn't worth it not even close. Besides the view I would have rather been in a motel 6.
Restaurant on site was good and everyone that worked there was nice. Flew in Sunday night and the restaurant was closed as they only do brunch even tho on everything it said it would be open.
Great island will return just never to...
