Inns of California Salinas — Hotel in Salinas

My boyfriend and I stayed here this weekend, he saw reviews somewhere that weren't bad at all and heard it was newly renovated but they must have been talking about another hotel. We arrived Saturday night around 8PM - the staff was friendly but there were at least 15 people just hanging around outside and by the stairs up to our room. The room was very outdated but everything worked fine - the bed was as hard as a rock and the 2 pillows provided were so old they weren't even pillows anymore. We could head everything the people staying next to us on both sides all night. The bathroom was nice and the shower was huge. The latch on our door was broken so we slept with the table in front of the door. We went to bed at 11PM and at 4AM the phone in our room rang and when my boyfriend answered - loud rap music was playing. When he looked out the window he saw 4 cop cars going toward the back of the hotel, again at 5AM our phone rang and someone was saying hello but nothing else. We had a layover in Salinas and happened upon this motel. The first room we had was very clean and spacious. We got a call from the front desk saying they wanted to switch our room; they had accidentally put us in a smoking room. So, we switched to a first floor room, and it is lovely. The furniture is a little old, but there isn't a speck of dust anywhere. There is a large vanity, a big bathtub in the shower, coffee maker, microwave, mini-fridge, iron & ironing board, & a flat screen TV. We also have French doors leading to a small patio! There is a Denny's next door, and a Jack in the Box. We are so glad we happened upon this place! If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely...

Got stuck here in Salinas for work and this was the only hotel available. Very old and outdated not the WORST im sure but definately not the best stay. Most customers seemed to live there and took the place over once the sun started going down. Loud music and soccer in the parking lot made it almost impossible to get any decent rest. It was like a festival after hours. Seemed the same story from the surrounding motels. If you have a choice move on down the road a little. Nice management from what i can tell but honestly...
