I stayed in this hotel one day under a one night reservation and then asked to extend it another day, at the end of my trip when checking out I asked about the security deposit which was charged twice one for each day because I chose to extend it,, which was fine.. but when asking about it's refund I was told to hold tight a minute while the room was checked
.....please note I had the room half way cleaned the first day, because I needed back in it I asked that they just change the bedding and leave clean towels, the maid did so quickly and I gave her a tip, nothing was said along the lines of any other cleaning. And they did not vacuum or clean anything else which I was OK with because the room was clean.
after waiting for a maid to look over the room, I was told I would see the deposit or charge for incidentals back into my account, simply that it may take a day or two to show in my account, totally fine with me and Normal. So I was assuming I would see a refund for $200. However, much to my Dia Dismay, 3 days later a $247.00 charge hits my account. No refund for the $100 (x2 for two nights) ever showed. Called hotel assuming it was a simple mistake. Which was not an easy task in itself, took me numerous inquiry calls, on the 4th one almost 2 full weeks after the stay, I asked for a management employee and was shocked to hear them tell me They charged my room a "deep cleaning fee" no other explanation at all, so I had to again wait for another manager to get back to me with any kind of actual info on this, when I do they said my room needed carpets shampoo'd and deep cleaned because of its condition it was bad enough that they couldn't rent it out that day I checked out so they charged me what they lost out on the room (the rooms are not over 200 a night!) Now, don't get me wrong The carpets being clean is important yes, but should not have been done on my dime! I was walking around barefoot, my room was clean. I don't do anything but sleep and shower in hotels, I stay in numerous a month, and have never experienced this, I clean the room up for the maids before I check out and am a respectful guest, 90% of the time I am alone. I'm not some teen having a party or a slob. I don't agree with this hotels choice and it's actually insulting and obserd really. They didn't need to shampoo carpets or do anything out of the normal and if they did its because it was part of Normal room maintenance and shouldn't be at my expense because they decided to do it after my stay, I feel used, insulted and lied to, and have already put much more time then I have to deal with this. The staff has been rude, snappy and unhelpful. Very disappointed as this was not my first stay, I've stayed here numerous times in the past, but with the staff changes apparently customer service is no longer a priority. I have been ripped off to put it plain and...

LOBBY & TRANSITIONS -- An enticing property, inside & out. The building is visibly worn in places, but it's well-maintained for a water front type property. Common spaces are cushy, clean, & expertly staged. The walk to a room can be lengthy & elevators slow. Luckily their signage is coherent.
ROOM (walkthrough) -- https://youtu.be/Mo4ESel4K0c A Modern design, with a dated vibe. Equipped with sufficient storage + a high quality ergonomic workspace. Cleaning standards were top notch. Views from the balcony were serene. For the not-so-good: Lighting was poor, electrical wiring seems poor, the provided surge protector didn't work, the AC was loud, & the thermostat in this unit wasn't calibrated/accurate.
BED -- The mattress was comfortable & I liked the pillow quality. Sheets were soft & clean, like everything else. My biggest complaint is the lack of duvet bc it gets awfully cold... In the end, my sleep was mostly restful.
BATH -- Small split bath design. The dimensions are kind of awkward; no functional issues though. It does take ages for water to heat up. Still, the shower experience is a good one.
TV & ENTERTAINMENT -- TV is so small... It really wasn't worth the hassle, even with a GoogleTV. The trails & marina are the real treasure here-- step outside!
WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- Internet needs more bandwidth & better QoS to prevent all the disconnects. --Performance-- Video streaming - average Online gaming - average Video chatting - average --Nerd Stats-- 6-8 Mbps download 7-16 Mbps upload 0% packet loss 9 ms latency 5 ms jitter
FOOD & DRINK -- DoorDash friendly. The lobby drink fridge was out of order during my stay. Ice & vending are still available on floors. In-room: ✅Small mini fridge ✅Coffee in room ✅ mini microwave
NOISE -- Wildlife is absurdly loud (ducks, geese, seagulls). Overhead planes are another external noise pollutant. Walls are thin; I overheard an entire phone conversation in the adjoining room ☹️.
LOCATION -- Gorgeous sunsets, fishing spots, & tidy property grounds worth a stroll. The area also felt safe.
VERDICT The ducks are INSANE, but this was still a fun staycay. Maintenance needs to tighten up a bit so I can give this property the 5* it deserves. I see myself staying here again & would definitely...
Read moreThe marina Inn is a beautiful representation of San Leandro. As a former resident of the town, this is my favorite place to stay when coming into the Bay Area. The hotel itself is a throwback to 90s aesthetic, but it’s very well kept. The staff is very friendly and helpful towards accommodations. The shuttle will take you to and from the airport or to San Leandro Bart. You are also next to two good restaurants, El Torito, and Horatio’s.||I have two minor issues with the marina inn that I hope they fix:||The internet - it’s a captive portal style, which isn’t an issue to access as the front desk will give you a code. But if you’re planning to use the Internet for a business call on the day that you check out, you will most likely have to go back to the front desk to get a new code, I would suggest they extend the first code they gave you through the day that you’re checking out. Also, I stayed on the third floor and had to take multiple zoom calls. I noticed that my Internet speed was much slower than required for a teleconference, keep that in mind if you’re planning to attend work calls in your room. The Internet in the lobby was clearly much faster. ||The breakfast - the first time I stayed here with my son we enjoyed that they had self-serve waffle makers set up for breakfast. It made for an enjoyable breakfast for my six-year-old. sadly, when I stayed there recently, I learned that they just switched to single serve, sealed breakfast items, which sufficed, but lack the charm, (and the deliciousness) of the waffle makers.||I pointed that out to staff, and I hope the people that make the decisions will reconsider and bring them back.||Otherwise, it’s a very nice hotel to stay at if you prefer being away from a bustling city and want to enjoy the beautiful...
