The main attraction is the one mile loop that extends from the southern edge of the park, with exercise stations/stops about every 1/8 mile. This path is along the landing lanes for the Oakland Airport and it's very common to see various types of planes land every 15 minutes or so (I once saw F-18s land there). If you are a PoGo trainer: plenty of water element rares like Dratini and even Lapras are sighted around this loop with plenty of stops. There is a small jungle gym area with swings and slides for the little ones next to the parking lot and three words everyone likes to hear on hot sunny afternoons: Ice.Cream.Trucks. Additionally, there is a hiking/biking trail along the coast that passes through the entire Hayward shoreline, and eventually takes you to the foot of the San Mateo bridge (that's actually about a 3-4 hour hike on foot, one way). At around 3pm or so (aka. after school), the parking lot of the park tends to fill up and the best place to park is either on the street or towards the north side of the park, next to the boat docks. It has tented BBQ grills for anyone to use, a much larger parking lot, a sanded area for volleyball if you bring your own balls and nets, and a much larger jungle gym for the kids. Across the street from the park is a golf course with a driving range, and a decent sandwich shop. If you're not into sandwiches, follow the road past the Marina Inn and you will see Horatio's (a seafood restaurant with a great view of the Marina docks), and El Torito, a Mexican restaurant with a view of the bay towards Candlestick Point in...

Our go to when it’s way too hot at our place. Seriously, just getting near the water, even if it’s just 4 miles, is a game changer. 🥵
This park is situated along the San Leandro shore between Oyster Bay and Hayward Shoreline. There is so much grass, two playgrounds, group and small picnic areas, exercise equipment, miles of sidewalk space, a beach volleyball court (that usually doubles as a sandbox), a dog park, and fabulous views of the bay. The newer playground is on the south end of the park. It has a slide (only accessible by ladder), a swing set (bucket, standard, and chair swings), a zip line, monkey bars, a spinning post and merry go round and so many climbing opportunities on rope bridges, tunnels and webs. The older playground has a structure, a swing set (bucket only), and a used to be splash pad that has just turned into climbing statues for the kids. The structure has three slides (double, sidewinder, and spiral), ladders, bridges, steps, activities, lookout bubbles and a small rubber underneath. There is a loop around the peninsula (the strip of land that creates the marina) with distance markers, more exercise equipment, great views of landing planes, and way way way too many squirrels for such a small space 😬 If you cross the bridge at the end of the park it will connect you will the Bay Trail. Bathrooms near both playgrounds. Parking lots and...
Read moreFILL pink moon this week with our San Francisco Bays ambient temperatures, still dipping cold after dark, the daylight merely all aboard to all of our feathered friends and their flock. Just another gorgeous day, watched the golf fans wheel in and shortly following wheel out of the golf driving range along the waters edge. Many bicyclist, as that as myself, just breathing the air cones into and onto with the tainted ocean mist thT cooled the surrounding neighborhood within three blocks afar, and approaching, I immediately felt the drop and the most comfortable temperature I Geneve I have ever took in and appreciated. The harmonic balance if sunshine, coastline air, which dome call the marine layer, however, clear, crisp, fresh and anew on this day before last day...
