This resort sits in a quiet town near a golf course (this made my husband very happy) and the staff is wonderful, so check-in was a breeze. The condo we were in appears to have been renovated and the furnishings were nice, comfortable and functional. It was actually pretty warm during our stay and the forced-air cooling unit worked fairly well to keep the condo cool. There were no wine glasses, which I found a little strange, but only a minor complaint. There is a fairly large heated pool and a very nice hot tub and sauna near the office and the gift shop, which had some very nice stuff in it. The bed was comfortable and when we had an issue, the maintenance guy came out fairly quickly to fix it. We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Whispering Woods Resort is tucked away in the woods around Mt. Hood. The apartment/townhouse style resort is older, but cozy. The appliances in our unit (building D) were quite new. The furniture, including bed, were very comfortable. There is a walking path near building D which takes you to the Salmon River. This is a nice resort on a smaller scale that’s done right. They have a little gift shop at the clubhouse/registration building. There is a golf course, pool, and playground as well; however, we didn’t require any of those. Mt. Hood and waterfalls are about 15-20 miles away. Roads were good for our September stay. Restaurants in town as well. Highly recommend this relaxed resort.

Good sized rooms, if ours is anything to go by...though dated. Full kitchen with stove, pots and pans, colander, as well as a full sized bbq aand small outdoor patio. There is a pool and hot tub but they are uncovered and outside. The room was freezing when we got here as the heat and fridge were shut off. It only took about 1 hour to warn up. There is a gas fireplace as well and a full bathtub. The bedroom is to the left when you enter. The bathroom, kitchen and deck are to the right. All around, fairly nice. Coffee and popcorn are provided. Everything is clean...not a hair in the sink or tub.

We arrived to a clean room and a very nice location. When it was time for sleep we found the bed was broken so that the head of the bed dipped down to the point we were sleeping with our head lower than our feet. We had to turn the mattress and prop up the head of the bed. The springs hurt also so not a restful stay. They started up the loud leaf blowers and mowers at 8 am almost every day. I think we were so tired some mornings we might have slept through them 2 of the days. We were given a notice at checkin that they would be doing painting starting at 9 am so we were offered free movie rentals, which were bluerays. We checked out 3, 2 of which skipped and one would not play at all. So we tried to checkout the free board games they say they offer but they no longer do that as advertised in your booklets. Now when you go to checkout games they want you to purchase them.

All this aside, I was still not going to write a bad review until they did something very unprofessional and harmful and violated the ADA. The area has a fairly large wildfire going on. The first couple of days it was raining so it was ok. But then the area became very smokey and unsafe for me to be exposed to as I have congestive heart failure. being on the top floor and the weather warming to near 80, it became hot inside the unit. I requested to be able to use the air conditioner and was told the maintenance man gave a flat out no. He said it was the end of season and he didn't want to put it in. I did let them know I needed it for my heart failure and smoke exposure and they still refused. The front desk lady was kind and empathetic but unable to get them to do it. After several calls and reminding them its a violation of the ADA to not allow me to use the in unit air conditioner they said maintenance would be up to do it. They never showed up and when we went outside 10 min before closing, they were outside talking about not doing it. When my husband went to approach them to ask they said "I think they are coming. go go go!" and got into their cars and drove off for the night. I then put in a call to after hours maintenance and they never returned the call. My husband had to try and install it with no parts, tools or ability to seal off the smoke that was coming in around it. but without us outright leaving to drive home late at night thats all we could do. I'm still recovering from this trip and dealing with the extra fluid in my lungs from the smoke exposure from my...

This place was ok. I have stayed at many Shell Vacation spots and this is probably at the bottom of my list. The units are older with some tacky decor that really hasn't been dusted in quite some time. To me it has an overall dirty factor. The views of the mountains are amazing. So that lends a hand to the one star rating that and the fact that you cannot rate no stars.

Anyway on our last day here we called the lady at the front desk hoping for an extra hour to gather our stuff and slowly vacate the room. The lady Stephanie was extremely rude and unsympathetic. When my friend called she stated we were told in our last day we could call and request a late check out at which point Stephanie responded "What?!" Like it was a ridiculous request! My friend then repeated herself and Stephanie responded "Hold on!" She then gets back on the line and says "We are busy there will be NO late checkouts" And hung up without a chance to respond. I then called back myself and was greeted in just the same rude manner that my friend was. I explained to her that we were here for my birthday weekend and that she was completely out of line with her lack of customer service skills. I told her that I didn't appreciate her being rude to my friend and she responded "I was NOT rude to her". Now having to deal with the public in my career I know I would NEVER deny it if someone told me I was being rude or was. I would apologize and try my best to resolve the issue. She had no intentions of doing either of those things. I am sorry to say but departing on such a note REALLY left a bad taste in our mouths!

I would also like to make mention of the fact that there were virtually no cars on the premises. So for being "so busy" I couldn't see why. My advise to Stephanie is.... Be a little nicer to people. You never know what their story is or where they are coming from. An extra hour or two OR even some sympathy could go a long way with someone. Very...

I scheduled an overnight stay at this resort and prepaid for it. When I arrived at 4pm (check in time). The staff were courtesy and friendly. I didn't quite understand that the word 'resort' is a bit different than what I was expecting. These are small individual condo's spread out on a property. There is no restaurant. There is no bar. There is no common meeting room to visit. There is a pool.

My main gripe was that my 2 bedroom condo didn't have a ceiling fan or regular fan. It didn't have A/C. When you look inside their condo manual they instruct the guest to open your windows and doors to let it cool off. The only problem with this is that it was in the upper 70's to lower 80's outside. I am from the South. We are use to A/C.

I went to the front desk and politely declined the room due to lack of A/C or fans. They told me that the room was non-refundable even though they said business had been very good of late and it was still time to resell the room.

I understand that if you're told a room is non-refundable, its non-refundable; however, MOST places in the U.S. have A/C. A/C isn't a luxury. It's a mandatory item. They don't even have fans to move the air around in case its warm. This should be CLEARLY spelled out on the website. If you're wondering why the 'resort' is cheaper than the resort right next to it, now...
