Very quiet and peaceful..... right on the water with dedicated dock. The cabin was very dated and very basic amenities. We were gone on a 4-day fishing trip so being right by the boat ramp was a huge plus. I wish they would update the interiors though.... very cheap motel feeling. the beds were very comfy though! kitchen was a total disappointment with limited cookware and utensils and most if not all were not cleaned properly. they leave the dish cleaning up to the guests so I don't think there was any quality control put in place to verify that the dishes were actually properly cleaned. recvd fresh towels every day which was nice and we were not bothered at all by anyone.
Pros: comfy beds and pillows Good hot water and good pressure for showering personal dock on the water onsite boat parking with power stations excellent lake front views (dusk side of the lake) overall - good value for what we paid (off-season pricing) I don't think I would pay any more though. a few minutes drive from Scottsboro that has everyone you need -- Walmart, restaurants, gas station, etc. right by the boat ramp to conveniently launch very easily. fresh towels delivered daily convenient hiking trails right off the cabins good wifi and TV cable big double sink vanities in the bath
Cons: Very dated interior -- cheap motel feeling disappointed kitchen -- not stocked well Ants in the kitchen Multiple outlets/lights did not work dishes were not cleaned (inspected) charcoal grill is small and rusted and nearly useless our cabin did not have a fire pit although other cabins did. docks are not floating - water level was low and made it very hard to moor our vessel docks to not have bumpers or guards.....tie up at your own risk! empty washer/dryer closets -- no appliances, cannot...
Read moreVery disappointed in the management of the campground. On May 20, 2020, my husband arrived at the campground at Goosepond Colony—one we frequented last summer and enjoyed immensely with our four young children. After some back and forth debate with another patron, the manager on duty admitted she moved the reservation notification from the site she agreed upon and assigned another patron to that camp site instead. She then asked my husband to disconnect our camper and move to a different site. This act is completely unethical and very unsound business practice. Not only are our children devastated that they are now unable to enjoy a fun camping trip with family and friends, but we are exceptionally frustrated at the amount of time, effort, energy, and resources we have now wasted in preparing for this trip only to turn around and come home. Unfortunately, this employee has not performed at a level of acceptable professional decorum and should not be allowed to hold a position dealing with the public. I am unclear why the manager decided it wouldn’t be necessary to address this issue in a morally and ethically upstanding manner—by acknowledging her lapse in judgement and maintaining the agreement established prior in allowing my family the camp site agreed upon. While I understand the bottom line is making money, the example set before my four young children was clear in that there are people they will deal with that do not do the...
Read moreHad stayed at the Goose Pond cabins a couple of times many years ago. Thought we’d try the Lodge for a weekend stay. Well I guess like a lot of other places the resort has not aged well. Nothing terrible but not likely to use them again. Numerous little things that could have been better: the hot water was barely warm, the mattress was awful, there were maintenance workers using a table saw right outside our front door (one worker relieved himself at the end of the building as we were coming in), and finally the office staff wasn’t exactly accommodating. Check in was at 2:00 and we had a 12:30 tee time. Asked if we could pay for an early check in. They said “no” as they’d have to wait for the cleaning staff. I asked if our room was booked the night before our arrival. They refused to say. When we got there and through out the entire weekend the Lodge was 100% empty except for us. In other words they didn’t even attempt to be accommodating as far as letting us check in prior to our tee time. None of the Lodge rooms were reserved but they wouldn’t attempt to prep our reserved room ahead of time (day before). The location is great but much of the rest can definitely...
