This motel is on a street off of the freeway in a tiny resort area with a fantastic golf course. The hills full of pines (and a scattering of homes) rise behind the motel. It's very woodsy and interesting in Munds Park, but you have easy access to the freeway from the motel.
This is independently run by a family who work hard and offer a good value and a personalized experience. It's not perfect, and since it's family-run there might be delays or quirks in service, but the owners are good people and the rooms are clean and the sheets clean, contrary to what some people wrote in the reviews posted here.
If you want a nicer room experience, some bigger rooms in the new wing are fancier and have fireplaces. There are also rooms have kitchenettes. If you're willing to pay more you can get a fireplace and nicer view. For a basic motel room, it was clean and nice enough for a very affordable price.
There isn't a lot in the way of dining options nearby, but there are a couple small restaurants that have okay food and there's a convenience store / gas station across the street with coffee and coolers with beer and soda, etc. For better food selections you have to drive 20 minutes north to Flagstaff or south to Sedona.
I checked prices online and found the lowest price, then called ahead and negotiated a better price by speaking with the owner.
I'd recommend it as something unique in the US now -- the family-run, mom-and-pop place that feels real and has more character than a lot of the sterile newer chain motels/hotels. Perhaps you could say it's a retro experience -- the way motels used to be.... Loved the one-of-a-kind, old-style neon sign on the hill. All those things are vanishing. Catch it...
Read moreI had just cut my stay short in Williams due to a terrible experience at a BW (ahem) sure stay. Please stop doing that to your brand BW. Stop acquiring properties you have no interest in making acceptable. I am a loyal customer to the brand and the point program is second to none, but it is trying my patience with these Wyndham lower end pieces of crap you are trying to sweep up and just leave them mediocre just to score a payday. ||Well anyway I walked into my room at Motel in the Pines and KNEW there was love and attention put into this room. From the newish ductless AC/Heater unit (getting real sick of these rickety and questionable under window units......... come on hosp. peeps!!!!! it's 2025 time to step UP) to the bedding and linens. All was very clean and loving. And the location is a class act. It is elevated a bit right across the street from a decent shell real market type place. The height lets you see and the 17 traffic. Which I actually kinda dig. New windows look recently put in and they actually OPEN so I can feel the wonderful air of the Coconino forest. This is my new place I think I will stay at more and more. Certainly as the heat creeps in the summer valley of hell. I cannot say enough good about this property. KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!! I am...
Read moreFIRST- Google Maps talk you to the wrong entrance so be careful with that because the road it sends you is not paved and can damage a car. Poor experience. The motel was not full and yet place us, traveling family, next door to and below construction workers who smoked and woke up early. The floors creaked at 6 am for an hour. Woke the family up. I did not expect anything more that the cozy motel from other reviews but it was disappointing. No one was in the office when we got there, I had to pick up a phone on the outside wall and ring the owner/manager (?). She came down and seemed confused by the online information with my reservation. She spoke with an accent which fine but then talked under her breath and really fast. Hard to understand but we worked it out. She did the check in fast and then disappeared to the building next door again. Never to be seen. She didn’t really seem to care if we were there or not. Beds are comfortable and the air system is better than the 10 hotels I stayed at during this trip. But it doesn’t solve why we were put next to and below people. Plenty of rooms available, just give everyone their privacy. I should have spent the $50 extra to stay in Sedona at a nicer place.
Update: Google provides the...
