Nice, older hotel situated right off the Winfield Dunn Pkwy and next to the Willow River.
When you first arrive, you are taken aback at the beauty of the hotel for a Clarion Inn. We were greeted kindly and promptly by the front desk gal. When looking for a luggage cart, we were confused as to why there weren't any located up front but if you park off to the left side, there were 4 of them located next to the elevator. Thankfully the gal told us to park around the building as it would be easier to access the room and the elevator.
Something to note about parking, since this place stays busy, if on any day - we stayed there a week - you arrive after dinner time, you may end up having to park on the other side of the hotel bc parking spots book up fast.
Our room was very clean and spacious. It is definitely a room in process for updating. They have modernized the main room and beds. They were very comfy. The only thing outdated was the shower. It was clogged up entire time and older fixtures but water stays very hot.
It's nice that I believe every room there has a balcony. We could catch a little glimpse of the river and mountains from ours. If you want a better view of the river you can take a path outside that connects to the next door campground if no one is camping in those spots at the bottom. Once RVs parked there, we could No longer get down by the river or see much.
The pool area was nice. Our family had a lot of fun. Be very careful of the tiles at the front of it before you get to the textured flooring. All of us almost slipped on it several times. The pool is open 24/7 indoor. Please note the outdoor pool and lazy river are only seasonal. They do not open until about after Memorial Day. Call ahead to make sure. We tried to call a couple times to confirm if those were open in April and couldn't get in touch with anyone. At the front desk we were informed it's when it's been consistently warm day and night. Also, beware if you are sitting in the pool area and the hot tub is on and not in use. We were scolded by some older gentleman who works there and he was rather rude about it. My family had just vacated it minutes before and it was set on a timer and he came and turned it off saying it was causing issues if left on. That was rather rude as it had been on many times unused during our stay so not sure why we were getting the brunt of it.
The hot breakfast buffet is offered every day, which we thought was pretty impressive. The buffet consists daily of eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon apples and breakfast potatoes. Sometimes they swap out the potatoes and meat type. There's also a yogurt machine, waffle machines and other various breakfast options. There's also balcony area you can eat out on if you choose.
Our housekeepers were very friendly every day and did a great job. Keep in mind that the toiletries here are very basic, cheap kind (haven't been updated to reflect other hotels offerings), so I would recommend bringing your own.
All things considered for a 3 star hotel, we had an overall very pleasant stay. The hotel is located perfectly with access to all the stores, gas and food we could need. There is a Target only 5 min down the road, too. We would definitely...
Read moreHotel was decent until my 5yr old Son broke the TV in our room on accident. Not a massive deal but the hotel wanted to charge us $500 for the TV stating it had to be a certain kind of TV we could not replace it ourselves and all other kinds of bs. Meanwhile it was over 5years old and runs basic cable, not even in HD. Which again not the end of the world they needed a TV to be replaced for the one that was broke, but what got me was the Customer Service was unacceptable and nobody that should be treated the way we were. We were either told to pay $500 right away or threatened to be charged by the police. Which police were called by the hotel not even 10 minutes after talking to the front desk. They gave us no time to figure out the matter.. We are locals and will not be recommending this hotel to our friends or family. The TV was not worth $500 nor did they need to call the police on us to take care of the matter. In no way was anyone out of line. I'm very disappointed in the way we were treated. Taking quick cash grabs on its own customers.
You Definitely didn't assess the situation right. could have let us talk to the owner or figure out the situation further but you Did not. You left the room without even saying much but I will just involve the police.. Called the Police right away after talking for 2 minutes. I did not argue or give you any reason to involve the police at all, But say we needed to figure something out, and give options. After you said it was $500 i knew we could no longer stay as i did not have the money to pay for the extra nights as it was checkout time. We needed to checkout then as it was 11am or you could charge us another night on top of the $500 for the TV.. There is also no way you are paying $865 some odd dollars for a old RCA TV not even in 4k, and then to use it for basic cable in 720p or less.. I could care less about your politics that TV is around maybe $300 new. And ya'll seriously need to upgrade your cable to at least HD, my goodness its 2025.. You can have easily excused yourself if you felt some type of way from the room after saying your peace and giving us the bogus receipt, as i had every right to be frustrated at the moment. We would have returned to the front desk to checkout properly and resolved the situation before leaving.. And My Mother came to enjoy my Sons Birthday had nothing to do with it, or to be mentioned back in your reply. Again VERY DISSAPOINTING CUSTOMER SERVICE & UNPROFESSIONAL...... Looking back we should have just taken it to court. Thanks for the...
Read moreThe hotel itself is a beautiful establishment. The rooms could use a few updates such as the televisions, carpet, curtains, patio furniture and fireplace. But over all still beautiful. The staff was very kind and accommodating. I was also very impressed with the staffs appearance. Relaxed but still very neat and professional. The environment all within itself having a diverse culture of employees made it feel welcoming and satisfying. Breakfast was also very delightful. Well stocked and a decent variety as well kept clean and up to par. Definitely a higher end middle class accommodations for a very reasonable rate. My only other suggestions but very well understanding having been a housekeeper once upon time is that you can tell the housekeepers are doing their absolute best to clean the rooms as amculant as they possibly can. And I'm sure do to management, time restrictions and set budget is a reason I comment on this but it would be even more alluring and beneficial to the building if more attention to the upkeep of the balconys, fireplaces and glass surfaces was given along with the shrubbery. Then this hotel would by all means be one of the grandest hotels I've ever have had the privilege to have stayed. I have been to a many grand hotels such as the Trump tower and to Biltmores accommodations and a many other finer places. Though you are not getting the luxury of modern technologies at this hotel you are getting a grand taste of a true upper class southern hospitality. It has that old time plantation appearance but the feeling of being at home in the days when life was simpler. I felt like my chaotic life came to a steady peaceful flow while being there. I felt 20 years younger and much more at peace then I have any other place I have stayed. In a long time. And I travel constantly so much so I don't pay for a permanent home. I go as I need and stay among the areas hotels and air bnbs. And throughout my journey the past 2 years this place is one I look forward Coming back to visit. Please don't take my critics to too much harshness for in many aspects aside from my comment on the need of a more thorough attention to the cleaningness of the fireplaces and such the rest is part of the comfort. To update to today's tech and trying to bring it to much into modern day designs would for me take away the happiness and peace it brought for me. Thank you to all the staff that assisted me and much recognition to the employees for the service they provide in the efforts of maintaining this wonderful...
