Plan your vacation so that you can stay at this cozy B&B.! So simple to drive into Sharpsburg, pull into the well-maintained parking lot with numbered spaces for each unit and check into this inviting B&B. You will notice the charming detail the moment you enter. Beautifully decorated for spring with country bunnies, flowers, and carrots with comfortable chairs and couch; plus, numerous snacks, tea and delicious molasses cookies. Ice and hot water was available in their welcoming lobby and candles glowed in the windows. | We stayed in the General's Quarters. If you are looking for the nostalgia of an 1804 home with the comforts of 2025, then this is your place. Attention is paid to every detail from things as simple as plush toilet paper and a night light in the bathroom, to comfortable mattress and comforter. A fluffy blanket was draped over a chair, the couch was so homey in front of the 1804 fireplace and yet there was a mini refrigerator that was actually very cold, a large television and nice table and chairs for either snacking or working at a computer. French doors opened to a lovely porch with glider and rocker while another door opened onto a patio with outdoor seating. All was quiet and peaceful. We had asked for a fruit tray and truffles which was waiting for us on arrival. The meat and cheese were perfect on the crackers for an afternoon snack. The grapes, strawberries and blackberries were fresh and chilled. The fresh green olives and chocolate covered cranberries were an added treat. | In the morning, we were treated to breakfast with Chris and Amy. The table was beautifully set and breakfast was served in a fashion almost too pretty to eat. Both days began with fresh fruit and scones, different flavors each day. On the first morning we were treated with lemon blueberry pancakes, maple syrup from Amy's cousin, and country bacon for our second course. The pancakes were too flavorful for syrup. On our last day, a frittata was bursting with fresh vegetables and cheese along with delicious ham slices and fresh tomatoes. Both mornings were filled with pleasant conversation with Chris and Amy. Also, we were greeted by Libby and Maya, very talented and sweet puppies. | The Inn is just minutes away from the Antietam battlefield and we took a break half way through the battlefield to come back to the room for a snack.| We had a wonderful stay and we will be returning. We are planning vacations that will definitely be close enough to visit the Jacob Rohrbach Inn. It was hard to leave. If you are in the area, plan a nice relaxing stay here! Also, try the Captain Bender's Tavern for a delicious dinner. A varied menu and delicious food. Thanks Chris and Amy for a wonderful stay and for the care that you put into...
Read moreMy husband and I wanted to stay at a bed and breakfast close to the Antietam battlefield, after reading several positive reviews we choose the Jacob Rohrbach Inn. This was our first trip away with a one year old and we couldn't have chosen a better place to be. Both the Inn keepers were very welcoming and extremely accommodating of a small child. I recommend staying in the Clara Barton room if you have a small child since it has a separate room and a full cast iron bathtub. The sheets on the bed were very clean and comfortable and the towels are we're ultra-soft. Each room in the Inn has such a cozy feel to it, I loved all the Christmas decorations. The rooms had very solid walls so you couldn't hear any other guests, a very well built house. Each morning breakfast was served at 0830 and you were greeted by Chris or Amy (two of the nicest people you will ever meet). Wish I could eat there everyday, very good food, each morning was fresh fruit, a delicious homemade scone followed by an equally delicious main meal like four cheese quiche or the best French toast you ever had. Chris and Amy even helped entertain my toddler so I could eat! They have two small friendly dogs that also greeted you each day and my son loved playing with them. If you were going out early or coming in late there was a fully stocked comfort station with tea, hot chocolate, soda and coffee and homemade cookies. We enjoyed learning from Chris the history of Antietam and he let us borrow a driving tour cd of the battlefield as well as some books, he is a great source of civil war information. Amy and Chris both could tell you all the best restaurants to go to and also other attractions in the area. I recommend eating at Benders pub down the street and grabbing an ice cream at Nutter’s (also within walking distance). We will be coming back again for sure and look forward to seeing Chris and Amy, they make you feel like you are part of their family, thanks for making our...
Read moreMy grandfather and I stayed here for three nights last week for vacation in the Harpers Ferry room. I took pictures to show to my friends and family when we got back. Though I didn't see Amy, I met Chris who was very friendly. I talked to him whenever we saw him. I just love to meet people. I believe the beautifully well-kept 1804 historic home is haunted. I say this not with the intention of scaring future and potential guests away but because the minute Don (my grandfather) and I went into the house, I instantly picked up on lots of energy within the home. I have the abilty to see, hear, feel, and talk to spirits; people who have passed on to the next plane. It's a gift that can amaze and scare people so I don't tell certain ones (e.g. the medical field about the visits I get from the spirit world). My mom, dad, and most of my family are non-believers except a few. During the nights at the inn, my hair was being stroked by Clara, a Civil War nurse and founder of the American Red Cross, my Internet kept going in and out on me, lights blinked, my hand and neck were touched, I was hugged by Jacob, a man murdered in bed at the inn by men who were pretending to be from Gen. Mosby's regiment but were actually horse thieves; I heard Clara humming a tune I couldn't quite place; doors flew open by themselves, and my grandfather woke up, startled, from a dream he can't seem to remember. I also managed to capture something in a couple of the pictures that I took. My grandfather and I love history. I'm really into the Civil War, especailly after finding out I'm a descendant from that era; the great-great grandaughter of a Confederate soldier who fought in the Battle of Shiloh along side his comrades April 6-7, 1862. I hope to come back and visit again. Thank you...
