Laid-back rustic campground in Shelburne VT. A real pleasure to camp at a place without, what has become, over regulation with campground officials constantly running around on golf carts to ensure everyone stays in line. It's the old school way of allowed folks the freedom to enjoy their camping experience, without officials looking to stick their noses into everything. Since the roads are all somewhat rough dirt, there are no screaming kids on bicycles, motorized skate boards and the like. No chalk drawings to deface the roads like experienced and tolerated in a National Park campground in the White Mountains. That's okay, all day but don't be caught playing any music after 10 pm. Because this campground is sooo far north it seems the yuppie crowd with the bicycles and all the kids toys strapped on the back of the rv, seem to go elsewhere. It's very refreshing to experience the outdoors without being immersed in the middle of a junior high playground.

Pretty average campground. We liked the location for the nearby Shelburne Farms and sightseeing in Burlington. But the campground is dated and a mixture of run-down long-term trailers and a few overnight stays like us. Worked for a short-term stay. Not really much to do at the campground. We paid $42 a night for 3 nights. Only partial hookups. 55psi water. 30 amp power. No sewer. We used the dump station on the way out. Service was friendly. They let us check-in a little early and even let us stay a little later on check-out day since nobody was checking into our site. The site was a little muddy after recent storms. The power and water were located at the back of the site and took every last inch of stretching our power cable and hose to get hooked up.

When I first got here it was super Rocky because of the person checking us in (some people just aren't meant for customer service).... However I'm not going to mention any names and I'm not going to let that one person ruin a five-star.... Because the rest of the staff have really been nice and did what they did could do to accommodate us........ However I'm still here so to be continued šŸ’•.....after 3ks I will say that the one person at the office made my experience horrible on several different occasions

No second chances at this place! My family and I stayed at this campground recently and had a terrible experience. The second day we were there, we had plugged in our generator in the middle of the afternoon 2pm due to the consecutive day heat advisories. An hour later my husband answered the door and was aggressively spoken to by one of the campground managers telling us no generators are allowed and that we were at a tent site with our pop up and we had to leave by dark. When my husband came back in and told me, I went out to speak to the manager in front of our site, since I was the one who had booked it. I approached him and said hello and he said hello and then continued to ignore me for a full 2 minutes while he typed on his phone. When he finally looked up, he said there are no generators allowed unless it's an emergency situation. I responded that their has been a heat advisory and that the sheet of rules and regulations we were given at check in did not list no generators. He said we were also at a tent only site and that I signed and read the by laws online, three months ago.... I apologized and just said that my confirmation said no hook ups and I must have missed that info. He told us we still needed to leave. Nevertheless, our small pop up fit fine and we were not damaging the site in any way. Additionally, when we arrived the previous day the person who checked us in at the office turned around saw our truck and camper and wrote down our license plate number and still gave us the site which we were not allowed at? So while our 9 year old son was crying in the background, we started to pack up our site and call around to find another campground. Within that time frame, maybe 30 minutes, the manager returns and says they just had a cancelation if we wanted to move to an electric site. Mind you, the place was pretty much empty and it was 4pm. Sounds like a scam to me and they kept our $80 for the two nights they kicked us out for. It was at that point I decided to inform him that there was a homeless person sleeping in the women's bathroom the night before. Pretty ironic if you ask me that a family of three is being berraded and kicked out but there are random homeless people sneaking in! Based on what they charge and the recent incident with an overdose in the bathroom, you should be able to afford a security system to keep people safe. They also say they have wifi but none of us were able to actually connect to it. Had we been treated better in the first place we probably would have stayed but I'm glad we were able to travel down to Button Bay State Park. Much nicer for a family, half the cost, rules are clear, and the workers are decent human beings.

**We were also told by another patron at the campground that their neighbors were kicked out because they're muffler was too loud. Seems to be a common occurrence at this...

Stayed here a week between the end of July beginning of August '22. Two of us stayed in a cabin and family members had a camper a ways down, both spaces left much to be desired. First of all the RV area specifically is cramped together, not even enough room to park the truck in the space everyone had their vehicles parked on the side coming in. The place advertised a playground, two pools, and wifi. Just a heads up only one pool exists, the playground has been taken away, and the wifi hardly works - we ended up using our data because of that. There's also "laundry rooms", don't get excited the one up by the cabins are very dirty and old and consisted of one washer with a 10 pound limit and one dryer which was out of order. The one in the RV section was again dirty and very old had one washer and two dryers one of which was broken. In our cabin the beds were fairly comfortable, we had issues maintaining the temp on the mini fridge. The bathrooms are extremely small and our sink had a pipe leak which soaked everything below and the shower was very stained. The camp is also directly off route 7 so if traffic noises and sirens are not for you I do not suggest this campground. Finally, the worst thing I belive that happened, and we have yet to confirm whether this person was actually a campground employee or just a very rude long term camper, but about 8:30 one night a man from a camper down the trail road his bike to my grandparents campsite and very rudely claimed he ran the campground at night and told her that they needed to quiet their dog down - an understandable ask however the f-bomb and numerous other profanities were very unnecessary considering it was their only warning and it wasn't even the 9 o'clock "quiet time", if that's how things are handled around there I'm not sure anyone stays there, completely unprofessional...

The best way I can describe Shelburne camp it to say it is uniquely wonderful. I found myself looking for a place to stay near Burlington for much of January through the first week in May. Someone suggested the cabins at Shelburne Camp. Their one room cabin was perfect! There were a few things that were important to me. It needed to be well heated, have hot showers, a place to cook, and a comfortable chair for reading. This little cabin had all of that as well as a nice table for crafting. I stayed in the cabin on 3 different occasions for 3 weeks at a time. It was clean, cozy, and quiet especially at night. For my final stay I took my camper and stayed in the campground again for 3 weeks. Once again, it was perfect for me. If you are one who prefers paved roads and paved sites with scheduled activities for your kids, this might not be the campground for you. If you are looking for full hookup including cable in a quiet setting with kind/friendly/helpful owners and staff, there is a good chance this is the place for you. The bathrooms to the campground are clean and well maintained. There are two laundry areas, one by the cabins and one in the campground area. The cost to do laundry is reasonable. There are many hiking trails in the area and many golf courses as well. My stay was mostly in the winter so unfortunately I was not able to enjoy all of what summer has to offer. This will always be the first place I look for lodging, be it one night or 21, for any future stays near Burlington. Thank you Chris, Dan, Matt, and the rest of the staff at Shelburne Camp for the wonderful accommodations. I wish you all a...
