This is a very fine place, and an ancient one that the owners, Mary and Dave, have maintained, upgraded, and decorated wonderfully. Everything they have done with the place is true to the style of the original building, which dates from the 18th century. I stayed here in the summer of 2012 for two days prior to a conference, and it was cool (in the room) and comfortable and quiet. We stayed one night while seeing a play in nearby Waterbury. What a pleasant place! Snow was expected and Mary called us the day before we were to arrive to offer to let us arrive early so we would be safe. How nice to think someone cares that much! The place was very nice and I slept so well. They made two kinds of coffee for us, though we didn't ask for it (I like mine stronger than my husband) and made fresh blueberry pancakes. The mattress was so worn out, it was like sleeping in a hammock, the bathroom throw rug had a disgusting brown stain on it, the owner Mary said she would refund me $15 because I was not needing the morning breakfast - but she never did, and I didn’t appreciate her critical / nosey comments on the seafood dinner which I bought elsewhere and ate in their kitchen area, saying she doesn’t like...
