I’m going to rip the bandaid off and start with the downsides. This hurts a little to write but these are things I wish I knew before booking room #5 in the Main House. The rest of the stay was wonderful so please read everything if considering a stay! I also want to mention that while these things did merit a star-loss for me, I did not bring any of this up to the staff. I did not ask for a different room or accommodation in any way because honestly, they weren’t deal breakers, just bummers. We also had a relatively short stay (3 nights) so it just didn’t seem like it was worth the trouble. There is no AC in the room although from what I can find there is no mention of this on the site and AC is listed as an amenity as of writing this review. I can see how this typically wouldn’t be much of an issue with the breeze in cooler months but we are visiting and the end of July and it’s hot and humid in our room which made it difficult to sleep a few nights, even with the provided floor fan. Outdated website photos on website. One thing I REALLY love at the end of my day is a good bath. The website boasts about the claw-foot tub in room 5 which was a part of why I booked this room, however it was renovated to be a glass shower with a massive rain shower head with very little water pressure. After 5+ miles of hiking a day, all I wanted was a bath. I was really disappointed to find the renovated shower. Okay on to the things we enjoyed! The staff. They were all kind, welcoming, and available at all times. There was always a note at the front desk as to who to contact if we needed assistance after hours. I think we saw Milan almost every day of our stay. He was very present and made sure to introduce himself the first time we saw him. The food. I can not understate how great it was to have a hot meal at the start of every day, even if it wasn’t exactly what I’d choose to eat, it was made well and they were happy to accommodate any changes. Coffee was always hot and juice was always cold. The rest of the room & balcony. Okay, yeah, I’ve seen some reviews that aren’t super happy with the view but honestly we really enjoyed the privacy of the balcony. We ate dinner out there one night and it felt very peaceful and quiet. The room aside from the missing tub was great. The bed was comfortable, the chairs were soft, and I think the decor...
Read moreWe enjoyed our recent three-night stay at the Lindenwood Inn, and you will, too. It’s a deluxe B&B with all the amenities. Booking online was easy, and we paid a 50% deposit, with the remainder automatically paid the night before we checked out. The photos on the website give a better perspective than I could do myself, so none are included with this review except for the great breakfasts! The inn is well appointed with a lot of Australian art courtesy of the owner, who hails from Sydney. But to summarize, we had a gorgeous king room with sitting area and wraparound porch. The bed and linens were luxurious and comfortable. There was ample lighting and a lot of sitting space. We had an in-room coffee maker (although we didn’t use it) and perhaps the best B&B bathroom we have ever had. The rain shower was super after a long day hiking. And the vanity had good counter space and storage for our toilet article kits. Breakfast, served 8-930 in the dining room or on the porch, was good all three days. Coffee and hot water for tea were ready in advance, and there was a daily selection of fruit and muffins. Each morning we were offered a hot breakfast. One day was Mexican eggs with peppers and cheese scrambled in; another day was perhaps the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had; and the final morning was French toast made with a baguette and stuffed with blueberries. The staff were efficient, but we had little interaction other than taking our breakfast order. Parking in the lot to the right of the inn is available but the spaces are tight; in the lot to the left it is easier. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. We tried Beal’s Lobster Pier and Dry Dock Inn (see separate reviews). One, Red Sky, looked good but booked up early, so call in advance if you want that one. Southwest Harbor is a small town, but commands high prices for lodging due to its location, and restaurants make most of their money in the summer, and some close for the winter. All in all, an...
Read moreThe Lindenwood Inn is an adorable Bed and Breakfast in a very convenient location -- away from the touristy area of Bar Harbor and instead located on a very quiet street in Southwest Harbor. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and found the staff to be very accommodating and friendly. The breakfast we were served (egg omelette with bacon, salsa, sour cream, spinach and cheese) was absolutely fantastic and honestly better than any of the breakfasts we'd ordered from restaurants while in town. There are some fantastic restaurants super close by (MDI Lobster & BBQ and Beal's Lobster Pier to name a couple) though the inn itself is only a short walk away from the Main street area. We also picked up a couple of jars of preserves from a nearby home whose owners had a stand set up on their front lawn. Overall we found the inn to be very charming -- our room was clean and the decorations were charming.
I am deducting a star only because we were not aware that there was construction taking place in the room above ours, during the time of our stay. After a long day of hiking we had wanted to get some sleep early, but there was so much noise that we ended up calling Milan about it. He was very accommodating and the noise immediately stopped, though the next day (throughout the day) we also observed several workers on the property working with noisy equipment; that was rather disruptive when we simply wanted to enjoy some peace and quiet and watch the water from our balcony. At a certain point you don't want to keep calling to complain and we were trying to be understanding of the fact that construction is sometimes required -- it's more that we would have appreciated a heads up and would have wanted to be asked when we might be away from the room so that the construction could take place while we weren't around.
Other than that, we truly enjoyed our stay at the Lindenwood Inn and would certainly book with them again...
