We visited here on a weekend trip up from our home in Maine to celebrate our Anniversary and we thought the staff was very nice atmosphere was nice however the lollipop Lamb chops were raw, the salad was decent and our main dinner the lobster risotto was terrible, the risotto was over cooked and the portion size the absolutely ridiculous for $49.00, the desert was very good but we would never go back or recommend this restuarant based on our experience. Also what was somewhat annoying was we were continually asked if they could take our bread from the table that they delivered and could see that there was still bread in there and that we just wanted to take our time and eat it. We didn’t want to eat everything in 30 seconds. This was an anniversary dinner that my wife and I went out to have an unknown to my wife and I we had a very good friend of ours. Call the restaurant and pay ahead for our dinner so I don’t know exactly how much the dinner cost other than what we saw on the menu. Probably should have did our due diligence instead of looking at the overall rating review, but go through all these reviews as I did now and you can see that there’s typical complaints of the food being cold service not being so well which we did experience at the service was wonderful But definitely very expensive for the portions that you get.
I know that the owner commented below, but I’ll just say to her we didn’t really want to complain while we were there that for $18 you get two lollipop veal chops which again came out completely raw and the risotto again was just not good at all, there was zero taste to it. We had a very small little lobster tail that was on top of it and a couple of small baby Claws of lobster And to charge what they did for that small portion of food was just ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous and again the owner said in the comment below the $43 lobster risotto which I’m not sure where she saw that but it’s on her menu at $49. That’s what we were charged and I just double and triple checked her menu again and it states $49 so apparently she doesn’t know the pricing that she’s charging for the...
Read moreI am not one to generally leave reviews even when I do not enjoy a meal but the experience I had eating at Red Sky was offensive. This is the first time I have ever left a restaurant feeling cheated out of my money. Myself and my fiancé ordered the lobster risotto and the ribeye; both were dishes that they charge $49 for. The food took an hour and a half to arrive at our table and when it did finally arrive the ribeye was both burned and cold. It was an interesting culinary decision to burn the steak and then let it sit for 45 minutes. The lobster risotto tasted fine but nowhere near the level of quality that one should expect from a $49 dish. Additionally the lobster risotto was plated in such a way that it made the dish seem unappetizing. My fiancée literally said to me "they are charging $50 for this?" when it arrived. Overall the food tasted like someone was guessing at the recipes. We would have sincerely enjoyed the food more going to one of the many local lobster shacks.
The most frustrating part of all is that the restaurant itself is cute. The outdoor dining area is set up with private tables in the back and it comes of as quaint. The menu when read seems appetizing. However, the food and the service were awful. The entire experience felt like 50% of a good restaurant. However, one should not have to pay $150+ for 50% of a...
Read moreOur favorite night out is to sit at the Red Sky bar and enjoy a delicious meal while chatting with the friendly owners (if not too busy), knowledgeable bar staff and the other patrons at the bar. Have never been disappointed. Our favorite is the lobster risotto, can't go wrong with any of the salads, the mussels and the polenta with veggies. The ingredients are typically local and always fresh. They bring in unusual wines, typically a special wine by the glass; last nights was a lovely Rioja which paired surprisingly well with the risotto. The environment is cozy and elegant. Reservations a must for a table, and room at the popular bar is by chance. Last night when my husband and I arrived there was only one seat at the bar, but the owner took time to see the progress of the other bar diners and, as she predicted, seats opened up for us within 10 minutes. Oh almost forgot, the best ending: James's toasted gingerbread with gooey caramel and whipped cream cheese - not too sweet...
