The drive up was a little steep and very twisty but was greeted with a beautiful property. Our cabin was dirty and mold was growing in and on the coffee pot which was disappointing because we were looking forward to having coffee on our balcony in the morning. We were provided basic utensils and some grill tongs for the grill out front but when I picked them up they were dirty and full of grease. This made me uneasy about how”clean”the room really was. I loved the flexibility of being able to check in early and the area we stayed in. There was a beautiful pond just a few steps away and the weather was nice for staying outside. The grounds could’ve been cleaner outside. I went to take my son for a walk and he kept picking up trash and cigarette butts.. the rooms floor was dirty/sandy and by the time I called they were gone for the day. The heater in the bathroom did not work and the heater in the cabin did not turn on for close to 4 hours after check in. The staff member that checked me out was notified of all of this and all she had to say was, “oh”.
Despite our troubles, the room was fairly priced had it been cleaned and there was no mold. It was able to hold 4 guests plus ample room for...

Small charcoal grill outside which was good because we ended up cooking all of our meals there because the choice of places to eat in town were very limited. We brought wood to make a fire but the fire pit was was a ways from our cabin so we really didn't get to enjoy it for the amount of time that we spent making the fire in the first place. We loved the horse stables on the property. We had no problem booking a trail ride. The guide was great and the horses were very well behaved! The location is very convenient to many trails. We chose Linville Falls which was about a 30 minute drive.
Beware of going in February as many places are closed for the winter like Little Switzerland and all of the gem mining places and welcome stations.
Only gave it 4 stars because, through no fault of the resort, there really is no mountain view or vista and not very many resort type amenities. But its a lovely, clean and quiet place that is super budget and...
Read moreThis is a nice mountain cabin getaway near the Blue Ridge Parkway! We had no cell signal, WiFi only near the office, and the satellite TV was unreliable, so we brought some boardgames and books and were ready to unplug.
There are trails onsite but except for the easy waterfall trail along the bank of the Toe River, they seem largely geared for horseback riding. You can rent tubes from the office, but the river is shallow and rocky. During our stay, it was thundering off and on, so we never made it into the water.
For fishing, there are several ponds with blue gills and bass under a pound, as well as a dedicated trout pond.
Our cabin was pretty basically appointed but clean. Overall, the property is nicely landscaped and the staff is friendly and helpful. We accidentally left some chargers in our cabin, and they immediately mailed them back to us as soon as we contacted them!
The quaint town of Spruce Pine is also nearby with some restaurants and Ingles...
