Hidden Gem Campground - A Quiet Escape for Outdoor Lovers "If you're seeking a quiet and peaceful escape in nature, look no further than Hidden Gem Campground. My stay here was fantastic, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and outdoor adventure. The campsites are wonderfully secluded, allowing for plenty of privacy and a truly quiet atmosphere. Even during busier times, the campground maintains a serene ambiance. For those who love to explore, the campground boasts easy access to numerous hiking trails winding through scenic woods and fields. My furry companion absolutely loved romping around the dedicated dog park and exploring the dog-friendly trails. It's wonderful to find a campground that truly welcomes all members of the family! Beyond the campground, a local disc golf course nearby provides a fun and challenging activity for enthusiasts. After a day of hiking or disc golf, treat yourself to a delicious scoop (or two!) of ice cream from the amazing local ice cream shop just a short drive away. The portions are generous and the flavors are incredible! Overall, Hidden Gem Campground offers a fantastic experience for anyone looking for a quiet, dog-friendly campground with access to hiking, disc golf, and delicious ice cream. This campground is highly recommended.

Loved our stay at this spacious campground! We had a really nice site on the full hook up look - D 48. Our site backed right up onto the lake and to our side was the channel/canal so we had a ton of privacy. The site was HUGE too. Our actual paved part was a bit short and we ended up having to back onto a gravely area to line our hookups right, kind of wish the site had been paved farther back. The campground itself is very nice, showers and laundry facilities located in various spots. We rented bikes one morning and just rode around the campground. You can also rent kayaks or canoes. They had a nice pool which we didn't use plus lots of spaces to dock a boat if you bring one. The lake itself is nice and we saw lots of people renting pontoon boats for the day, if we come back we would definitely do that since you can pull right up to lakeside restaurants with your boat and have some lunch or happy hour. I hated to leave after 2 nights since it was so peaceful!

Make sure to choose your site wisely. Negatives: 1. The goose poop was everywhere & impossible to not step in. It was on the roads, and on the campsite. We had to continuously make them go away. The department of wildlife needs to do something about the exploding population as it made for an unpleasant weekend. 2. Restrooms need some updating. They are old. There is NO shower house in section D. Positives: 1. The hosts were so nice & friendly, especially Maggie. 2. The pool was clean and well maintained. 3. The campground itself was very pretty, manicured, and clean. 4. Definitely a great place to go if you like water sports. 5. Very nice place to bike ride too. Just remember to do a bit of research on your site, especially if you are near water.

ILSP is a nice, large, well maintained campground.

Pool: Very nice, clean pool with lots of chairs and a couple of umbrellas for shade. The pool did not have a slide or diving board but did have a "walk in" slope to enter on one side which is great for small children or anyone that can't use stairs or a ladder.

Camp store: The pool was next to the camp store which had all your essentials and a good selection of hand dipped ice cream. There were tables and chairs between the pool and store to sit and enjoy lunch, ice cream or whatever as no food or drink is allowed inside the pool area. Plenty of parking.

Campsite: We stayed in campsite B94 which was eclectic only, level, shady, and a good size, no complaints. It was also next to the wastewater disposal (not the dump station) and restroom. We camped in area B which has lots of big, shady trees. We saw many sites with NO shade, mostly in camping areas A, C and D. Pick your site to suit your taste. Some sites are on the water, but we were not. We had no problem with geese at our site or in the immediate area. While riding our bikes around the campground we saw many geese around the canals. This could be a potential downside to having a campsite on the water. Another note, the restroom was positioned behind the campsite next to us with a sidewalk between the road and the restroom. We saw many kids riding their bikes on this sidewalk ALOT. If you don't want this, choose your site carefully.

Restrooms: Each camping area had their own restroom (toilets and sink only) and shower house/restroom (shower house on one side of the building and restrooms on the other). We were one site away from the restrooms which were cleaned and stocked daily, and a short walk to the shower house which had individual showers with a locking door. Plenty of hooks to hang your stuff and keep it dry and a small bench. Showers we clean. Laundry facilities in shower house.

Activities within the campground: Boating, fishing, rental canoes, rental kayaks, rental paddleboards, rental bikes, swimming at pool and beach, volleyball, horse shoes, and each camping area had a playground. Fenced in Dog Park. One hole disk golf. The campground hosted a food truck and band on Saturday, yard games on Friday.

Beach: The beach was clean and raked. No geese present. Restrooms. The beach has a gradual slope into the water, and it was calm, making it great for kids. The water never got very deep, 5 ' or less, all the way out to the swim buoys. No lifeguards. The water temp was perfect in July while we were there. We thoroughly enjoyed swimming at the beach.

Several restaurants around the lake. We only ate at two. The food was good at Woody's (not on the lake) and Cranberries Resort Restaurant (on the lake).

Highly recommend this campground for families with kids or boaters. We enjoyed the more quiet atmosphere during the week. The weekend was much busier with golf carts, bikes, cars...

Definitely some great attributes to the park. If you want to do something on a lake, I would highly recommend it. I chose this park because it stated dogs were allowed. They are not, however, allowed in the pool area or in the commissary where you have to check in. When we went to the pool, a late 20's Burnett hair lifeguard grilled me about my service dog when we entered, then very rudely asked me what I needed him for. I gave her a dirty look but before I could tell her to mind her business, my daughter blurted out, "Amotional Support" as a bad inside joke, not realizing it wasn't one. Lifeguard gave us a dirty look, but let it go. It was all ok until a pair of ankle biters charged at me from behind the fence in the pool area. They were on a leash, but the owner let them shimmy through the wide gapped fence. My trained animal did what he was supposed to and let me know about the attack as he tried to defend me. That's when I was told my service animal would not be permitted in the pool area anymore. The cowardly lifeguard that grilled me, seemed offended I brought him into her area. She sent the timid teenager summer hand over to tell me I had to leave with my animal. She didn't even have the guts to tell me herself. Apparently, my dog's warning cue about my surroundings were making other guests mad. This also happened right after those same yappy ankle biters that charged me were denied entry as pets. So, instead of standing up for the handicapped, the park employed lifeguard pushes us out of sight. It's probably a good park to go unless you run into the Pooch Natzi. Hopefully, they get rid of them soon. I know it will be a while before I go back and submit myself to that kind of...

BedBugs.

Summary: pros -Great biking area! -Great camper HOSTS and RANGERS -Great lil shop! -fun water trails -Great place for campers and tents -Alot of good staff

cons -Some staff cocky and moronic -bedbugs -dirty lake (Dead fish all over the shore)

Story Everything started out great! A nice little house to stay in for the night! Air conditioner table chairs 4 beds and a neat little couch. We slept very well after a long day of biking on that August Monday afternoon. It had rained earlier that day and we were quickly soaked from walking and biking the nearby trails. Us boys slept well while our 2 mothers panicked at 2am upon finding red and transparent bedbugs. They put a few in a bag but one of our mothers figured there wasn't really a point to waking us up since the bugs would do it for them. Fortunately the other 2 boys didn't get bit. I may have once or twice but hardly noticeable. My mother was covered in the bugs and bites.

Us boys hit the lake after the bedbug incident and diddle did whatever. Our parents ran all the clothes through a dryer to try and kill the bugs. Hopefully it works. I'm sitting here listening to my mom basically cry over these bugs. writing a review still pretty mad about how I was treated. I had to throw my book bag for this school year away so that kinda stunk too. We had to throw many other items such as pillows, sleeping bag and memory foam mattress. We are probably not going to get reimbursed for much though we did get refunded on our cabin woot woot!

Mom has a bad knee and will be sore tomorrow so now I'll have to listen to that now. She's a hard worker. We Love moms (\ (o,o) /)

Do not ever never stay in the...
